Have been to this restaurant several times before. Over the years, the prices have risen and…read moreportions have become smaller. The food is good in general, but nothing outstanding. On this occasion, I had a mozzarella and rocket starter. Would have been better if the plate wasn't covered rocket and had more mozzarella/tomato. For main I had a 'special' pizza, which has salami and prosciutto ham. there was a decent amount of ham but the salami was thin on the ground. When I came to the desserts, I avoided the dessert platter so share like the plague! after our last visit and ordering the afore mentioned dessert, you can't help but feel ripped off! there is barely more on the sharing platter then there was on the dessert plate of someone who had ordered a single portion. The restaurant is nice and clean and has quite a fresh look. The staff are nice but there is one person there, who I'm assuming is a manger of some description as they're in normal clothing, who is over the top with the niceties! to the point that its irritating! generally though, the staff are good and helpful. We have a tastecard so we got bogof on all courses which made the price reasonable. without the tastecard, I personally wouldn't want to go as I feel its over priced. our reservation was for a group of 5 and our waitress had no problem in accepting 2 tastecards for our party and splitting the bill into two. some places can be a bit funny about this. If yelp would let me leave a one word review, it would be omg!…read more Me and a few friends decided to visit Caffe gelato after hearing so many good reports. And I can honestly say, it didn't disappoint. The place is bright and clean but at peak times it can be a struggle to get a seat. Luckily, we didn't have this problem as we visited quite late (they're open until 10pm every night). The menu was large. Maybe a bit too large for a sugar addict like me! I decided to plump for the chocolate crepe with vanilla ice cream and strawberries. You place your order at the counter. The queue wasn't long so it wasn't a long wait before I was served and placed my order. Once you have placed your order, your free to return to your seat as they will bring your order to your table (or stand staring at the mass of different flavour ice creams like I did!). The other people in our party had various ice cream based dishes, so their orders arrived pretty swiftly. As mine needed to be cooked, it took slightly longer but it was worth the wait. There was no shortage of chocolate sauce both inside and on top of the crepe. The vanilla ice cream was tasty and on top was chocolate shavings and byelaw. There were also quite a few (fresh) strawberries struwn on top. I must admit, this took away some of the guilt factor as it now counted towards one of my five a day. All in all, the food was tasty, the place was clean and it is obvious why this place is so popular. Considering what you pay for desserts at other cafes/restaurants, it represents good value for money. Mine was around £4 The one problem I had was choosing what to have as the menu was so vast. But then again, it's a good excuse to go back!

Well what can I say ..... It's a lovely place but I really do not like the fact that two members of…read morestaff were stood there with plastic spoons tasting the ice cream one after the other and not changing their spoons. Unfortunately I can not name and shame them as they were not wearing name badges. No Caffe that double dips is for me and my family I'm afraid. Very off putting, unhygienic and bad practice.

Blyton Ice Cream - Choice of cones

Blyton Ice Cream

As a child every time the sun came out we would demand to drive out to Blyton for some ice cream…read more Today was no exception and it turned out that everyone else had the same idea! There was plenty of parking around the back of the cafe, but there was a bit of a queue for ice cream. We probably waited about 20 minutes before reaching the front of the queue, but we had plenty of time to choose the flavor we were going to have! There are over 60 flavors to chose from, so it can be a tough decision. I actually chose a flavor that wasn't on the board, but I had read about it on the website. There are a variety of cones that you can choose from as well, and prices are reasonable with 2 double scoop cones costing £7. There is also a cafe at the location serving hot food and afternoon tea and a children's play area at the rear with crazy golf and table tennis. Service was friendly, if not too speedy! I went for 2 scoops; chocolate brownie and marathon (snickers) and my friend went for ferrero rocher and walnut whip. We both felt the flavors melted into each other and couldn't work out which flavor was which, but it tasted good! There are just so many flavors to chose from I'm sure you could have a different opinion every time. If you really like your flavor, they actually sell tubs of their ice cream for £4.95. I enjoyed my ice cream, but it wasn't the best I've ever tasted, but I'm probably quite well versed in ice cream! My friend gave her ice cream a 6/5, so she loved it! Definitely drop in for a scoop if driving past.
