I am interested in some of the crystal candy, I do not always know where to get these products. The person working here did seem friendly. She did not talk to me, but she was engaging kindly with another customer having a lively pop culture conversation about a show. On the other hand this place is extremely overpriced if you know where to get your hot trendy products. For instance, they had the mango pealing candy for $4 or $5. I found the same product for $1.99 at Walgreen's. They have the carbonara noodles, which you can find for a lot cheaper. The other suspicious items you find here are the bootleg plush toys. I am not sure how stores like this or kiosks at the mall get away with selling bootleg toys, but the Hazbin hotel plushies are not original or necessarily licensed. Since I do buy the kids Vizipop merch, I always go to the official website. These items tags stated things like hotel pig and hotel spider. I also found them on Amazon that stated they were "inspired" by the show Hazbin Hotel. The official website is how the artist makes money, so I am not sure how the law works with the copies. I would go back to the store and the kids would like it too but I will try to only purchase official and licensed merch.

Cons: Their prices can be very high, and honestly most of their employees that run the cash registers are grumpy or rude. I've never had friendly service from the women cashing out customers. I stopped in to buy sweet corn yesterday morning, it was a quiet time with no other customers, and the woman running the register was literally annoyed with me for cashing out.

They also had Proven Winners in larger pots for annuals at $7.00. even had a few good sell items. But the selection of light weight pots were almost none. The others were high priced. They have lots of tempting items for the garden and walls but they were much higher than a few years ago. You can blame tariffs but it could be adding to the profit margin more since some are doing that. Not much service and if you pay with a card, extra is charged. I do like supporting local businesses and it is nice to have a smaller footprint garden center but I am glad I was only buying for an apartment balcony.

Overall, it was an excellent event and Douglas clearly knows what he is talking about from his 40+ years of experience! The inside of the building has items from various garden related vendors (except for one - I will get to that one in a minute): fairy garden items, bird houses, yard decorations, etc. They also have food items from several Amish bakeries and oh my, the hand pies are excellent! Thankfully for my waistline I only had a bite of my husband's apple hand pie after we left or I would have gone back in and one of every flavor. Where Salem Gardens stands out is their dedication to plants that are unique. Yes, you will find marigolds (standard for all gardens for pest control) but they have an amazing assortment of other plants that are truly different. Check out my pictures for the yellow green hostas! Wow!

They have an eclectic yet charming selection of Knick knacks, keepsakes, and tchotchkes to accompany their main business of personalized invitations, thank you's, and other stationary. I was greeted pleasantly as soon I walked in the door and asked if I was looking for anything in particular. The store was clean and well organized with plenty of room to move and look about. I overheard a customer in their rear-most space which is where they go over their personalized stationary. They are very thorough in going over how the customer wanted their particular piece to look. Overall it was a very pleasant stop and I found a lovely, unique birthday card and a new pen! Their gifts are on the more pricey side, but really, it is a gift shop and they have items at every price point. Would recommend.

They really have some nice ones. I went back a couple of weeks later to look for them and buy some, but they weren't at the market that weekend. Of course I had no idea what they were called and searched all over the internet. I finally found a list of vendors and figured out who they were! A quick drive to Northville, I had no idea what to expect from The Barn. What a pleasant surprise! We purchased a nice set of Corn Hole boards and they were so kind as to help us carry them out to the car (side note they did not come with the bags). We did take a walk around the barn to check out the amazing collection of stuff, a mix of new artisan items and antiques and refrained from buying a whole bunch of stuff that I did not need. Its a fun destination and its the kind of place that you might stumble on that treasured item you may or may not have been looking for.
