Had all sorts of neat candy and confectionary items. A group of women came into the store after us and then we had like 8-10 people in the store, which seemed a little claustrophobic, so I stepped out to get my pint from Browndog next door, where I had dinner. Lots of interesting candy and bonbons though so I will be back at some point. The store is super pink, as well! Loved the ambiance.

Alpine Chocolat Haus, stay for the serenity, leave because you can't find anything to enjoy…read more I'm genuinely shocked they are still open, and yet, glad for it, as ACH is a welcome respite in a downtown that can be boisterous at times. If you are looking to a quiet place to gab with your gal pals, this is the place! There was only ONE food item I tried that was worth consuming, except you can't really take it with you - the hot fudge on the ice cream! Please sell this in jars, the taste rivals Sanders! But, everything else I tried? Barely edible. Sampled 4 ice cream flavors , just because I was trying to find one that was palatable, settled on vanilla because I felt bad sampling more flavors...the ice cream is very poor quality. Being a Michigan company, I am surprised that they don't have Guernsey ice cream? That would be a welcome improvement for sure! Purchased 3-4 chocolates to go, I think one with cherries, another with maple, maybe a coconut, and a Buckeye. Let me preface this with the fact I love chocolate...after one bite of each, I threw them away. And the Buckeye was so revolting I automatically spit it out...what kind of peanut butter tastes like that?! I wish you were better, Alpine Chocolate Haus. :(

So my whole group and I happened to walk by Kilwin's, located in the heart of downtown Plymouth, over the weekend during the Ice Festival and it just felt like the perfect place to stop in after dinner and before ending the night. Yes, it was like single-digit weather, but I can always go for Kilwin's ice cream! My favorite ice creams they carry are the ones with streaks of fudge in them. I think in the past there's been one that's Mackinac Island Fudge flavored or something like that, but they didn't have that one available, so I oped for their smores flavor instead, which had fudge streaks, graham cracker crumble, chocolate chips, and marshmallow ice cream. It was so light and fluffy and the perfect balance of ALL flavors. I loved it! There is so much more to Kilwin's as well other than ice cream. I also went home with a caramel, but tons of my other friends got drinks (cold and hot), adorable chocolates, like chocolate covered orange peels and truffles galore, and of course FUDGE! Do yourself a favor and check out Kilwin's! They have locations all over Michigan and I think in other states as well. But they definitely originated in this great state (specifically, in Petoskey I believe!) and always scratch my itch for fudgey goodness without being on actual Mackinac Island!

I recently moved out this way late Spring, and wasn't really looking forward to commuting 45-50 minutes to get my supplies at Margie's. I looked online and found Kitchen Creations. Kitchen Creations is the Margie's of Farmington Hills! They're closed Sunday and Mondays, but it doesn't really pose a problem to me since most of my orders aren't due until Friday-Sunday anyways. Plus, since I know they're business hours I can plan accordingly. It really makes life that much easier. They have everything I need - boxes, boards, foil, icing color, sweetex, cookie cutters, candy molds...they have it all. The only thing they don't carry are the scalloped edge gold round cake boards that I would normally buy at Margie's. It saved on having to buy foil to cover a board when doing a birthday cake, but it's just a minor inconvenience. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Huge selection for whatever your craft is! Do beware on the parking lot though. There's a dance studio next door that tends to fill up parking spots. Plus people tend to drive a little fast thru the adjoining parking lot & Firestone - just be a defensive driver when it's busy!

During busy times on Middlebelt it can be a little difficult if you are heading south but there is an entry further north in the shopping plaza that you can use that makes it better. The store is unique as there are 'robots' displayed around the room above the food displays. They are easy to miss if you don't look up! I believe the robots would sell very well also but they don't seem to be for sale. I have never seen anything like them anywhere else. This location is great for packaged and bulk candy but I am reluctant with the powdered items. The powdered items are separated in two groups but I don't know why they were split up. In any case the same situation applies to the cereals. They appear to be of good quality but the manner in which they are stored gives me question. The place is well lit and the staff is friendly. The floors could use a sweeping, mop and polish! Great place for savings and quality candy and some baking needs.
