Masu
Rachel I.

Absolutely stunning tattoo shop Very clean Many artist with many different specialties Fair prices for quality work Easy to book last min appointment I am visiting Vegas and no better place to get a Vegas tattoo but in Vegas. I reached out on yelp and someone responded right away with info of who and what was available. Coming in I wasn't sure 100% what I was getting but just had some ideas. Masu was the artist I chose and I couldn't have been more excited. She is so creative and beyond talented. She was able to take me ideas and draw them there and then in her own beautiful way. She was also very accommodating to any breaks I needed. I'm so happy with the work and service from the shop. Thank you

The atmosphere of this shop is Wide Open Spaces without the crappy country music vibe. And if you're going to spend 1/3 of the day here, it's nice to not feel like you're stuck in a confined area. Lots of room to walk around and pleasant music that isn't too loud, so you can wear your own headphones and zone out. Just don't listen to something with a good beat or you'll start moving around to much. We made appointments months in advance as the artists are super popular, and for good reason. My artist was Omega and he does awesome realism tattoos. I had an idea of what I wanted and he took the idea, searched for examples and designed the tattoo on his Tablet (I think it was a leapfrog, but more advance than mine). It took him like 2 hours and he made an awesome mockup. We arrived at noon after eating at the Sunrise Coffee in the plaza nearby, and I finally got in the chair shortly after 2p. I was there until a little after 8p and am super happy with the finished product. The forearm is a little tricky and he was accommodating to make sure I was in a comfortable position. We took breaks about every 2 hours or so. All of the artists here are super talented (look at their pics), so do your research and make an appointment (and pay a deposit). Make sure you eat before or bring something to eat, just not a Subway Seafood and Crab or Black Bean Soup. For my 1300th Review, why not make is special with the place I got my first tattoo. Once I saw the realistic tattoo style, I decided to just go for it. It's my favorite city and something I've thought about for a long time. We'll see how long it will take for me to get my 2nd! TLDR: Just go here for quality work! You won't regert it. (and bring a Milky Way, lol)

My tattoo of the band's logo with the singer's handwritten lyrics and signature.

The experience was outstanding! Ash did a great job designing exactly what I wanted. She walked me through everything as a first time tattoo getter. I would highly recommend her and the shop to anyone.

Hopefully, Yelp will like this censored version.

This town is full of good artists. You can find them in any strip mall Only Basilica has Amanda Lopez. She's not a good artist. She's a virtuoso. She is to tattooing what Dali was to painting, what Mozart was to composition, what Brady is to football, what Satriani is to guitars, what Pahlaniuk is to literature, what Scorsese is to film. I've had other tattoos. I brought in some art I created, and they did their best to recreate it. Amanda looked at what I brought, made it better, and brought it to life on my leg. She made it better than the original. She made my subject matter look like she's ready to jump off my leg and into our reality - and somehow be more real than any of us while she does it. (Hopefully, Yelp won't remove the pic. We'll see.) My only regret is that she didn't do all my other tattoos. I can't give a strong enough recommendation. (Oh, everyone else at Basilica seems pretty talented, too. I was seeing some of what they did with other people, and it's like being in a studio with Caravaggio, Rembrandt, da Vinci, and Michaelangelo all at the same time. And Amanda somehow managed to outshine them all.)

Daneris did a perfect job on our memorial tattoo for our dog Maleena. She traced her crooked bottom teeth.

Daneris did a perfect job, we felt she under charged us so we tipped extra! We do not speak Spanish but she did a great job communicating with us through the phones!

Yes, that is legit! Thank you Amanda!

Amanda! Just an update for you, everywhere I go I get asked about the "scratches" on my arm. Just last night my husband and I are at the bar and a lady asked if we have cats...No one ever believes that it's a tattoo. I love telling my story. Thank you!!

The shop is super cute! Everyone is very friendly and wow I must say AMAZING ARTISTS!!!! I've gone to Luis a couple of times now and he's never let me down. He's so good with colors and his attention to detail is just beautiful I thank him for capturing my two fur babies' personalities so perfectly

Basilica blackout. Never even offered to fix. Aggressive attitude. Awful work. Uneven as hell.

More on my review: they ruined my body. They didn't even center my chest piece. Lines up my neck are uneven. ONE SIDE IS BIGGER THAN THE OTHER. I'm so freaking angry about this.

I did my research & looked for a 5-star shop that I would be satisfied with. I took a chance & gave Lachy a chance, his work looked good enough & I am always trying to help new artist build their portfolio. Came in & got tattooed, there was a language barrier since he didn't speak English which they failed to mention which is shady. While tattooing me he got up & disappeared for 10 minutes without telling me he would & that was unprofessional. The tattoo was done, & I was worried because I told him the lines were a bit off & he did try to fix it, but it didn't help. He told me to let it heal & give it a month to settle. I left a $200 deposit for a future tattoo & scheduled for the future. A month went by & the lines didn't magically adjust themselves, I thought the tattoo was over saturated as well (too dark) in some areas. They gave me a hard time to come in & fix my tattoo, Lachy made it seem like I was crazy & seeing things - I told the front desk I wasn't sure if I wanted to come for my next tattoo since the first one had me a bit upset, she decided to go ahead & cancel it instead of asking whether I wanted to cancel or not. They assumed I didn't want to come in instead of reassuring me and handling my disappointment professionally. I came in & saw Lachy, he had an attitude which I expected since he's upset that I am not happy with his work. He came off arrogant as he did the first time, I met him, but I didn't let it bother me. Harim & another artist saw my tattoo and admitted that the lines were crooked, but they weren't bad - but it's on my skin & I'm not happy with it. Lacey seemed hesitate since he couldn't see his mistakes which was very frustrating - after showing him repeatedly what was wrong, he just ended up making the lines thicker. Somewhat helped but now the lines are crazy thick. He goes to the back & comes back with my $200 and tells me he can't do the tattoo I wanted because he doesn't do black and grey - yea okay he's offended and doesn't want to work with me. Look at this IG so you can see the baloney. I end up calling the store the next day & spoke to the manager Vanessa & she knew exactly why I was calling, she made me explain myself to only tell me "yea he told me already" couldn't she just save us time & tell me at the beginning of the conversation instead of wasting my time explaining? She ends up telling me that "you started it" so me being unhappy with the results that I got, a tattoo that is on my skin isn't a big deal for a client to be upset about? I was painted as a difficult client and the whole experience left me disgusted. I reached out to my tattoo artist that moved out of state and he even verified that the tattoo was crooked, and I was not in the wrong. Look's like another of Lachy victims had the same unfortunate experience I did. Which is unfortunate to the other artists there that are probably way more professional and do great work but like the saying goes, one bad apple spoils the bunch.

Perfect size in the front, until you see the back
Hannah M.

Whack tattoo shop for not telling me my artist doesn't speak English until he told me himself at the appointment. I have no issue with a non-English speaking artist, but he misunderstood what I wanted for my tattoo and I'm not going to rely on Google translate to mess up my words, either. I asked for a paintbrush stroke band, he said he understood, and I got a plain black band. I was fine with that, but it's crooked and different sizes around my arm. I can't see the back of my arm well in a mirror, the skin gets distorted. The front looked great to me and I didn't need it to be perfect. He clearly didn't want to do this tattoo, but was fine taking my money and that is something grimy as @#$! to do to anybody. Never trust an artist that doesn't care if you change a design and doesn't ask what you want it changed to. The receptionist didn't tell him about the change to my design, because he didn't know when I got there. WHACK! The receptionist should have told me there would be a language barrier before I came in. Not only that, but he applied my Saniderm so sloppy that it came off in less than 24 hours. I had to go buy new Saniderm, which stayed on for 5 days without an issue when I applied it myself. He told me to keep the SAME Saniderm on for 7 days straight without changing it. What????? Please tell me anywhere online that advises you keep Saniderm on without changing it out within 24 hours or that you keep it on for longer than 5 days. I knew Lachy's hourly rate going into my tattoo. $250 for photorealism is fine. I originally booked Lachy for a realistic piece but changed my mind last minute and just wanted to use up my deposit. Thank God I changed my mind and I chose something simple. I knew the band would take over an hour, but for it to be crooked and uneven? Absolutely unacceptable for $500. Black bands are hard to get lined up, but then refuse the tattoo if you can't do it. Or take the time to make it right. Even better, give me an artist that feels confident they can do it. Or if you know the tattoo isn't tons of shading and linework, charge a flat rate as an exception. There were so many options and the artist chose the shady route. The owner of the studio responded to my partner's review saying that tip means you're happy with your tattoo. No, it doesn't. I tip regardless of service because it's the right thing to do. He spent time on this lame tattoo, so I tipped him for his half effort time - but the reputation of this studio is going to catch up to it if it keeps treating customers this way. Ya'll do some incredible work, especially the owner - that doesn't mean you're in the right because other people got good tattoos. I waited 20 mins for him to take his 'lunch break' at 2pm and stand at reception. He used a small liner to fill in the black until it took 15-20 mins to fill in 2 inches and then swapped needles to a magnum. That's why I'm pissed about the cost. It wasn't 2 hours worth of tattooing, he made it 2 hours. After it heals, I need to go get the band reworked by someone who takes more than 10 minutes to line it up. If you're doing a tattoo outside your comfort zone, you should JUST NOT DO THE TATTOO. I trusted you to put in the work for the money I paid! At the end of the day, I overpaid for this tattoo and that's because I chose a simple design - but it should have been perfect work for that cost. Once again, WHACK. Also, nobody wore a mask despite a government mandate for it either. WHACK WHACK WHACK. Good art doesn't make you good customer service people. I thought for sure a top rated spot with photorealism artists wouldn't mess up something so simple, but here I am, something permanently on my body that was just a payday for my artist. Basilica - Do better. And I'll do better researching studios next time, too. If anybody doubts my experience, look through the reviews for the hummingbird coverup tattoo that somebody has to live with for the rest of their life because the artist wanted $$ instead of admitting they weren't experienced in that type of design.

I could not be happier with the sleeve that I got from Luis! I went in for three sessions over the course of two months and each visit, he was on time, courteous and very professional. After each session, he would text me each day to check in on how the tattoo was healing. I really appreciate the customer service I received, not just from Luis, but also from Yesenia when I was first communicating back and forth about my idea and scheduling. The shop itself is super clean and I felt very comfortable there. All of the artists were creating incredible tattoos. I highly recommend this shop!

First time tattooer here! After months of research (Google, IG & Yelp), I stumbled upon Masu at Basilica Tattoo. Her style, line work and use of red really caught my eye. I reached out to the shop by eMail and was able to schedule an appointment. Everyone here is super talented, so I highly recommend 1-2...to even 3 months of advance scheduling. First off, the shop itself is absolutely stunning, it's like you're in a cathedral. Beautiful paintings hanging from the ceiling and the shop is very well designed. Masu was very kind, she has a calming presence about her. As you can imagine, I was very nervous, but she reassured me that everything was going to be fine. The design process took about 1.5 hours, my wife and I sketched a reference, but it was awesome to see Masu take what we had and really make it into something beautiful. I cannot stress enough how talented she is. Next, she sanitized and prepped her area and the next thing I know, we are getting started. The tattoo took about 5 hours, she even stayed late to finish it. I'm so grateful that she was the one to provide me with my first tattoo, I hope that I'll be able to get another one from her in the future. They use tagederm as their go-to method of healing/aftercare. My wrap fell off while sleeping (my fault, I slept on my arm ), but Yesenia was able to guide me through the other option of healing (Dial gold & Aquafor). I was told this is a cash only shop, so be prepared for that when you pay. Other than that, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Mahalo Masu!

I've been following Basilica for a while and finally decided to get a tattoo! On a whim, I texted them and sent my design, we discussed the sizing, placement, pricing and I had an my appointment within a week. My artist was Amanda, and she's AMAZING, I mean look at her work! She's very sweet, she goes over every detail with you, she's very accommodating, and takes care of her clients. Her work is impeccable, people don't believe my tattoo is real, the saturation, the line work, the shading, everything is perfect! She also speaks Spanish, if you prefer or a Spanish speaker! Please call Amanda, you won't regret it, find her on instagram @amandal.ink !!!!

FRANK Oh. My. God…read more Where do I even begin with this absolute fever dream of an experience. I went to frank for a tattoo thinking I was about to embark on a meaningful, spiritual journey of self-expression. What I actually embarked on was a psychological thriller directed by someone who once saw a tattoo machine in a YouTube ad and said, "Yeah, I can do that." First of all, this man's studio looked like a storage unit that lost a custody battle. The "vibe" was somewhere between abandoned dentist office and haunted vape shop. There was a single folding chair that sounded like it was begging for mercy every time I breathed. Now let's talk about the tattoo. I actually had to take a lap around the studio because WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT'S ON MY BODY FOREVER AND IT'S PERFECT??? The lines are so clean they look AI-generated. The shading? So smooth it feels illegal. The placement? Spiritual. Cosmically aligned. If I stand at the right angle I'm pretty sure it unlocks inner peace. I keep catching myself staring at it like it's a new pet. I have shown it to strangers. I have adjusted my outfits to make sure it's visible. I moisturize it like it's royalty. If it asked me for rent, I would pay it. The pain? Worth it. The adrenaline? Elite. The emotional attachment? Concerning. This tattoo has changed my personality. I now say things like "yeah, my artist..." as if I've been part of an underground art collective for years. I have zero chill about it. If you make eye contact with me for longer than two seconds, I will show you. Five stars for talent. Five stars for making me question reality. I walked in mildly nervous and walked out feeling like I had just been branded by a mysterious but benevolent art deity. Would I go back? Absolutely. Would I understand him any better? Probably not. Do I care? Not even slightly. Anyway, 10/10. No notes. I would absolutely let this happen to me again.

I walked in as a normal human being and left spiritually reconfigured, emotionally moisturized, and…read morepermanently superior in a slightly concerning way. All because of Frank. The line work? Cleaner than Charlie Sheen. The shading? Smoother than my ability to make responsible life choices. At one point I genuinely considered framing the stencil and starting a minimalist life devoted solely to admiring it. Not only did he absolutely demolish my expectations (in a good way, like i demolish Taco Bell after a breakup bender), but the vibes were immaculate. 10/10 would trust him with my skin, my secrets, and possibly the deed to my house. Book the appointment. Let him alter your molecular structure. You won't regret it.

Inspired by the Welcome to Holland poem, my friend and I got matching tulip tattoos--something deeply personal, but also full of beauty and meaning. From the very beginning, Amethyst was everything you hope for in a tattoo artist and more. She was incredibly responsive, warm, professional, and knowledgeable. There's a calm, poised energy about her that instantly puts you at ease--especially if you're someone who finds the whole tattoo process a little intimidating (which, let's be real, a lot of us do). She walked us through every step with clarity and care, making sure we felt comfortable and confident the entire time. Her shop was clean, stylish, and had such a cool, welcoming vibe. And the aftercare kit she gave us? So thoughtful and well put together--it really showed how much she cares about her clients beyond just the appointment. We found ourselves here the night before our flight, as I'm not one to trust a super cheap shop. Tony was amazing. I wanted to fit into the theme of north arrows but I didn't want to be literal as I already have a compass tattoo. I'm from Oregon and wanted a stalk of lavender and a bee. Tony understood the assignment and made it so artsy I can't stop looking at it. I'm not sure if I asked for an arrow, as I was exhausted from being out as sober support for my other surveyors after hours, but there is a shape of one with the bee and flower. I traced the lines on a photo because I am that professional and so my qa/qc . I truly love it! The whole appointment was a wonderful experience and now we both have a bee tattoo. I never get spontaneous tattoos and I'm so glad this worked out so well. I doubt I'll do it again unless I find Tony! I'll likely find him/travel if I get another larger tattoo in the future. Also, I want to note he was very respectful and aware I was a child of trauma with issues and a fidget toy. He not only watched for any buddy language, but also empathize with me in his families life experiences. Easiest tattoo experience I have had and it erased a "bad" experience relating to another tattoo artist, though their work was also very good.
