I started taking the Body Blast and Boxfit classes at this studio back in September and I'm super…read morehappy with the experience. I've even signed up for their 6 Week Fitness Challenge that starts tomorrow. I'm pretty active on my own, but find it's easy as we head into winter to opt for the couch over the run outside. So, signing up for classes provides a little extra incentive for me to keep active. From my first visit at Cornerstone I felt comfortable, a key feeling for me when I'm working out. The owner, Lauren Cook, took time to explain pricing, the best deals, and introductory offers. Although I don't have kids, I noticed that the schedule's built to accommodate kids classes at the same time adults are working out. Supporting local community businesses is important to me and Lauren took the time to explain why she opened and what impact she hopes it has on the community. All a positive for me. I take body blast with Nick Robinson on Thursdays. It's a mix of functional exercises to build cardio and some strength training. The classes are small, so it's more like a personalized workout with a trainer rather than a class at say Goodlife. The max we've had so far in class is 4 people, so there's no hiding. The upside, is that after I injured myself running, he was able to give me modified exercises during the class at no additional cost and it didn't prevent me from going. This was awesome! The Boxfit class on Sundays is the best workout I've ever had. If you're looking for a cardio workout this is it. It's an hour and divided amongst skipping, jogging, aerobics, box jumping, and punching the bag so you never get bored. You work on 3 minute rounds with 30 second breaks the whole time. Jared is funny and makes sure everyone is working hard throughout the class. As for costs, I pay per session and find it reasonably priced. It's more expensive than Goodlife, but I feel more accountable given the smaller class sizes. And you can't beat the individual attention you're getting from a certified instructors/trainers without paying for one-on-one sessions. I've not taken any of the adult dance classes they offer, but I've ventured into both Yoga and Pilates now and continue to be impressed by the staff they have.

My daughter in particular has learned so much and been able to really explore her creativity, plus has boosted her self esteem. Wonderful staff, very caring and thoughtful, and overall a great vibe in the studio. Delighted to see how the studio has evolved and grown over the years.

Paul assesses me weekly and creates routines that are challenging but not punishing. He always finds the right balance for your energy levels that day. He's professional, he listens and is easy to converse with. Although I'm never going to be someone who loves working out, Paul has helped me understand how little I really need to do each week to improve my strength and live a healthier life. I continue to go to him because I have workaholic tendencies and it helps having appointments that I must leave the office for. Highly recommended!

After reading Marie F's review, I have say I was a little surprised, yet that said, I know exactly…read morewhich class she went to in 2011 and I can say that will NEVER happen again. That 'instructor' is no longer with the bootcamp. There are 4 different, knowledgeable, trainers for 5 nights a week. Each class is different, with Boxfit on tuesdays, Pilates on wed, bootcamp Mon, Thurs, Friday. Love the variety. It's tough but you get a great workout. They incorporate everything from kettle bells to bosu balls. The trainers are helpful, where they will point out how you can do an exercise better without making you feel like an idiot. Classes are small so you get the attention that's needed. I've made some great friends here, learned a ton, not only about exercise but also nutrition and health. Love this place...

This place was a joke!…read more I have done plenty of Bootcamps in my life and I can't believe these guys actually have paying clients... I paid $20 for 5 classes via Deal Canada.ca and I still feel thoroughly ripped off. First off there is the Website. A jumbled nightmare sales pitch more concerned with talking about "why we are better" than provide basic info like parking information, instruction on getting into the building (which was locked upon arrival) or the fact that a mat is required! I was expecting to have a registration session. This would be where you'd be measured, weighed and given a waiver to sign... none of that was done. What if we would have gotten injured in class? Instead, when we walked in the instructor was eating and telling us he hated DealCanada (awesome... nice to meet you too!) He tried hard to get to know us... too hard even. Barking out our names as some kind of turrets mnemonic device he had created for bootcamp (see... we ARE better!) The bootcamp lasted about 45 mins! The "warmup consisted of swinging our legs front to back than side to side... TAH DAH you are warm right?! Then we used resistant bands, puny kettle-balls and medicine balls. There wasn't enough equipment for everyone so some of us had to struggle with weights too heavy or breeze through with weights too light. I broke a sweat during the floor work because frankly my core sucks but for the most part my heart rate stayed pretty mellow. If this was a decent workout I shouldn't be able to have a full conversation with full breath. In fact I was able to come up with witty quips for every time our idiot instructor decided to randomly say my name, ask me stupid questions or tell the class he hates Yoga (really?!) My favourite part of class was the "stretching" at the end where the instructor said: "Just stretch what needs to be stretched" and watch us do whatever stretches we knew. In my opinion this is a terrible workout, and in some cases dangerous as I saw older woman adopt terrible form as they flung kettle-balls over their heads while locking their knees etc... If you bought a voucher here try to get a refund because it's not work it at all.

The staffs here are really helpful and willing to answer all my questions.... and even show me where to go next. Studio is a little small...but some can say it is intimate and cozy. I think I going to take a quick shower after my next spinning class. The instructor welcomed me and greeted me by name.. show me how to make adjustment on my bike... The bikes though a little bit old but have quite comfortable seats. (I think my Yelp friend would appreciate that!) The class itself it great... Great music selections and I like how the fan with wind blowing on me makes me feel like I am biking outdoor with the cool breeze.... Energia Athletics has other classes.. maybe I will try a Kettleball class? Hopefully I won't drop one of those on my toes!

This year the original owners sold to one of their best coaches and his wife, equally gifted, Bernard and Jess. The attention and care they give to their members is second to none, they foster community, pushing yourself as far as you want to go, without pressuring, and truly take an interest in all members. Its not uncommon to see them there at 630 am and still at 7 PM with private clients. They have also hired some amazing coaches to assist them who bring their own individual strengths to the classes. If you are looking for a gym with a true sense of community ( everyone knows everyone regardless of the class or time of day you go) and caring, want to just get in shape or learn a new skill, or really push yourself to another Crossfit level, this gym is for you. Best decision I ever made in joining, and even better in staying with Bernard and Jess taking over. An outstanding place to be!!
