They prepped and painted two rooms, including the baseboards, trim and ceiling. They replaced and painted a set of closet doors and replaced the rickety attic stairs. They also fix the bedroom door where it is now fully functional. The work took two days, but they transformed the two bedrooms. The crew was polite and professional. They worked quickly, quietly and with skill. I could not have asked for better. Mr. Grubb was very responsive to emails and quick to address all our concerns. Thank you for the good work.

After 5 months, even the frame was not finished! He only send people to my house once a week, sometime didn't even show up in weeks. I tried to call and text him, and only rarely got some text responses. They asked for payment very promptly though. We almost got called daily from his assistant when the monthly payment was due. Knowing me almost going to sue him, he promised to get everything done within 2 months. Now 3 more months later, still, no major progress. Only frame and insulation was done after 8 full months! Now my basement has been like war zone for 8 months. I have decided to fire him. I will fight to get my money back. Oh, did I say the job quality was bad too? It often took inspector multiple times to pass one thing. Even the inspector in my town told me he could drive people crazy! So do yourself a favor, stay way from this contractor! BTW: A few reviews from other unhappy clients I found online: Company also known as CLJ Basement. I Hired this guy to finish the basement. It took almost one year to complete 80% of the work and remaining is still pending and I am hiring someone else to complete the work. Also they are very adamant, very difficult to approach. Do not hire these guys to finish the basement.... The owner is an unethical person. He over commits and does not deliver against his contractual commitment. Trust me, go with a more reputable contractor. He will string you along and not get the job done. The only thing he is good at is collecting a check from you. I'm filing a law suit for charges I incurred as well as filing a claim with the consumer affairs department to ensure his license gets revoked in the state of New Jersey. Totally agree. Their office staff is not helpful, the guy shows up for his payment like clockwork every month, but they are totally lax when it comes to actually coming to do the work. Every one I know who has hired CLJ Basement to do their work is unhappy with the amount of time it took - more than a year in many cases. Also, they file inadequate permits so you keep failing the permits. It's like a Ponzi scheme, take a person's money and never show up to do the job even if customer complains. When they finally do come, it's not even for a full day of work, maybe a few minutes or a few hours, that's it. Then they don't show up for a few months. Don't hire them, they have taken about 500 jobs and only 10-20 workers to do them. Larry Jr was great to work with during the project. He informed of us of all progress and milestones daily. When we ordered a washer and dryer that would not fit he found other parts of the project to work on until we could get what would fit. From start to finish they took three weeks. Our project was definitely a large task in our eyes as they rerouted all the plumbing within a concrete slab. As you can see the finished project is beautiful and we are no longer embarrassed when someone requests to use our bathroom.

We keep a running to-list and then call him to come out for a few days to do everything on the list. Most recently, we had him come in and patch up a hole in a wall, touch up some paint some areas, replace a sink, power wash our fence, fix some ceiling tile, out up solar lights and fix some squeaky drawers and doors. He does not cut corners, he even came back to touch up the drywall piece because he didn't love the way it came out initially. He even needed a new hose for the sink since the one we had was a little short and he picked one up on his way home that day to bring back the next day versus charging us while he went out and purchased one. He provides an estimate if requested, and does his best not to go over and not without a discussion first.
