My experience starts on my move-in date. I've lived here a couple of months now and have had a few things bother me about the units and staff themselves.
Today, I walked out to the carports and my loaner vehicle from the dealership was gone. I now know that they towed it because I didn't have my parking pass on it.
I called the office and the woman that answered the phone said that I should have picked up a parking pass, to which I responded, how would I know that? Then, she said I should have parked in the parking lot behind the movie theatre! Seriously? Again, how would I know that? I parked in my security gate lot, which has plenty of spots, and accessed by my FOB. Who else would park in there?
My issues...
First, the carport is part of my lease, BUT, I didn't know they were towing cars or that parking my loaner vehicle overnight was going to be an issue. The dealership keeping my vehicle was unexpected and getting my parking pass didn't cross my mind.
Scond, the woman I talked to this morning had a definite attitude. She was very condescending as if I should have known.
Third, this area is shady. The area behind the units is referred to by locals as the hood, and they want me to park my Dealership Loaner vehicle in a random, unsecured parking lot!?
It isn't just about the vehicle safety but MY SAFETY!!! Why should I have to walk through this area alone, at night? Especially, when I have a carport and ZERO knowledge about vehicles being towed within the security gate where I'm authorized to park.
The loaner SUV had plates on it that clearly marks it "LOAN"! Now, I have paid the $250 tow bill and $25 for a taxi to go pick up the vehicle. Great. I'm late to work now.
I now know the process but I wasn't educated on it in the first place so Management definitely dropped the ball. No apology, no empathy, a who cares attitude!
The carports were supposed to be assigned after they serviced the parking lot, and that hasn't been done. If that had been done, they could have contacted me and found out that I do in fact, have the right to park there, instead of treating their residents with such disregard. That dealer plate clearly stated, LOAN. Common sense could have come into play here... Instead, I'm out $275, because I didn't know about their requirements and that they were towing vehicles.
My initial Lease Agent? Loved her! Those that I've dealt with since? Pretty unhappy with their indifferent demeanor.
A few other notes on the property... I have a studio apartment and some of these opinions are from a convenience and design aspect.
There's an ant problem. They're coming in under the baseboards along my west wall. No response from my voicemail to the Leasing Office so I bought some insect spray.
The shower is tiny and the large shower head blocks the upper portion of the rack I bought, making it useless. 2 small triangles to hold product. Theyshould have increased the shower size and reduced the overall free space of the bathroom. I'm 5'4, with an average build and bump up against the wall so a larger person may have issues using it comfortably.
Appliances are not full size (I lived in other studios and the appliances were full size so they can be found). The dishwasher has a rotating bar under the top rack so you can't fit your dinner plates in it and will have to wash them by hand.
Same with the stackable washer/dryer. You can't wash a lightweight blanket so you'll have to go to the laundry mat.
The window treatments are thin, and the glaring exterior lights illuminate the unit. Buy blackout curtains.
The big screen TV at the pool is a fun idea but kind of annoying if you want quiet time, or to relax in the hot tub at night without it glaring over you. Sometimes you just want a peaceful and relaxing time at the pool. It runs from 8AM-10PM. I asked and they can't turn it off, nor can you request to watch a movie. Sports only.
The halls are polished concrete and have a serious echo. Some tenants disregard quiet hours so if you're sensitive to sound, this might not be the spot for you.
Grills/Firepits are outside the residence windows. Nice idea, again, can get noisy.
I already mentioned my parking issues but keep in mind there is no guest parking, other than a row in front of the Basecamp office. Think safety! Of you and your visitors cars, because their office personnel doesn't care.
If I had only known... Disappointed. read more
