We had an excellent lunch here. Just passing through Bendigo. Best Carbonara I've ever had. Service was prompt and courteous. Nice coffee and reasonable prices. Highly recommend. read more

The thing that I thought was really cool about this place is that they had some awesome, and rather unique, breakfast options, some of them even having an Asian feel to them. Oh, and they were pretty good as well. Yeah, the tea, and the service were pretty good as well, so I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

Unfortunately the café at the art gallery was not an option, since there was a huge line waiting for the limited tables that were available, so I crossed the street and found this nice little place. I ended up having a tuna salad (the options available at a lot of these small places seem somewhat limited, however that is probably because they stick with what they know) and occupied a table out on the street (though they did have a back area, but that was full, and the guy indicated that it was quite popular). The service was good, though one of the waitresses was a little sharp initially.

No reservations only walk ins on weekends but we were lucky to get a table. A quick coffee and a BLT hit the spot, the coffee was good and the BLT was fresh and full of flavor. Good service and a quirky place with lots of graffiti art and a good sized menu to choose from. They also sell tea and coffee paraphernalia and blends.

The staff are all cool looking, tattooed dudes and dudettes but the patrons vary completely. The staff actually look like they enjoy working here which makes you enjoy your experience that much more. Inside has a warehouse sort of feel. Exposed brick on some walls and others covered with colourful graffiti. And they're obviously about sustainability and recycling because water is served in old Absolut Vodka bottles, the light shades are made of milk crates and the front counter looks like it used to be an old shipping container. There are a bunch of old trestle tables to share with others or great for your own big group. I LOVE what they've done with this place! And the coffee is great! It's hard to find good coffee outside of the city but this is really good. The food looks really great also and they're fully licensed as well which is an added bonus. I've also heard on the grapevine that they're going to start hosting a 'Stitch & Bitch' where you can get together with a bunch of others and learn to crochet over coffee or gin - whichever you prefer. If you're in Bendigo it's definitely worthwhile giving the Brewhouse a go!

The Wine Bank is exactly that - a wine bar set in an old bank (on view street). The building is…read moreimpressive both inside and out, with high ceilings and loads of wines. It appears that Wine Bank is targeted to two crowds - those who want to buy a bottle and go through the full list, and a very casual crowd who want to stop in for a cheap drink. Perhaps price sensitivity is an issue for the area, but the wines on pour were nothing special at all. The tacky paper menu and unimpressive by the glass list stop this from being a classy affair or place worth seeking out if you're a wine buff. I'm all for individual expression, but I think the place could really benefit from a work uniform or even just a dress code - another notch that really works against this being some place special. A good spot for a casual drink of sauvignon blanc or cheap champagne, but definitely not somewhere I would recommend to visitors unless you were settling in for a full bottle.

When I first stepped in, the staff had greater me but recognised I was new so he showed me around the place (so I know where everything is) before seating me in the upstairs area. The interior is very modern and funky with a nice, welcoming feeling. As it's a cold day I ordered the waffles and a cap. The cappuccino is delicious with a lot of attention to the detail. The waffles are home made and reasonably priced, not many places do their own waffles but these ones were lightly crisp and moist, great with strawberries and ice cream. This place is great, especially for ex Melbournites like me, so give them a try :)
