I used Baryames pick up laundry service for years and had no problems until they lost a bag and have accepted no accountability. This is since Christmas! They claim that according to their GPS they delivered on December 26. My ring camera proves otherwise. And I don't have a bag because I never got my goods back. I've called and written and just get the runaround. My husband has gone in person twice, bringing the ring pictures, but the manager was conveniently not there. I want my $$$ back and some compensation for the lost items. Not a million dollars. The cost of the service and maybe $150 for the two sets Queen sized sheets, the bathroom towels, and a brand new bathing suit that got in the bag by mistake. I have the forms for small claims court but it's a hassle. I'll do it though and inconvenience us all if I have to. read more

Baryames does a great job of dry cleaning my shirts, pants, and sweaters. I imagine they do a good job with other garments too. I have a pretty low standard for dry cleaners. Baryames has always met those standards. Everything is always done on time, and they've never lost anything. As long as they continue not screwing up, my business is theirs to keep. Oh, and they usually have coupons available online and in the Lansing State journal. read more

I really value a good experience when giving my business to a company. And even though Baryames itself is a chain, this particular location doesn't treat you that way. They have delivered my clothes in the timeframe promised every single time I've used them, which is pretty incredible when you consider I've been going there for over 10 years. Well I had been going their for years when I needed stuff dry cleaned but they lost my business today. Not because they shrunk my curtains 6 inches (it happens, and I understand that) but because i paid $28 to have that done and they refused to refund me the money. To me its like finding a hair in your food at a restaurant and still being forced to pay for it. No well run business in the service industry would do that. After multiple phone calls and an attempt on their end to stretch them they offered me a $10 store credit. Simply refunding me the $28 and maybe throwing in a free pant cleaning would have kept me coming back for years. Oh and when the manager of that store told me the final decision of her "supervisor" she had been talking with, I asked for the office number of that supervisor or a corporate customer service number. She refused to give me a number of anybody abover her saying she was the one who I could talk to if I had any further questions. And that is why I gave them a 1 star rating. read more

I took a mother of the bride dress there today and they wanted $170 to clean it. Mind you it had some beading and sequins on the top but only one little spot on the bottom. That is more than I paid for the dress! I did not leave it. I will look around more. read more

EDIT - The comment from Art B. below (owner) is dishonest. The snag was NOT a result of wear. It occurred during the cleaning process, a mistake that was admitted by 2 members of his staff. It is also not virtually unnoticeable. The bottom line is this: I brought a undamaged shirt to be cleaned and received a damaged one in return. His comment is further testimony to his poor business practices. I do NOT recommend Baryames for tuxedos or cleaning. They do not acknowledge the most important tenant of small business ownership: customer satisfaction. I had the dress shirt to be worn at my wedding cleaned by them. It came back with a hole and a 3" snag down the arm. They "fixed" it but the hole and snag were still completely visible and the shirt is now unwearable for any formal occasion. Instead of offering to give me money for the shirt ($69.00) or even a fraction of that, they refused and offered me $15 of store credit. I refused the store credit because I will never be using them again. PLEASE, save yourself the headache and find a cleaners that cares about its customers. read more

I took a shirt in with paint on it and when it came back it was still there, the attendant realize they had not use the stain remover on it so he sent it back and fixed in for free. Could not be happier it was my favorite shirt. Will definitely be using them again. read more

I do not usually write bad reviews but I thought I had to share my most recent experience here. I came back for the holidays from NYC and needed dry cleaning of some of my suits from interviewing for residency, suits I might add that were dry cleaned countless time in NYC. I brought them in, all J Crew blazers and Calvin Klein suits, and was returned my J Crew suit with large fray spots across the top in a linear line. I was obviously upset, but tempered my comments until I could talk to the manager but the representative at the time suggested that it looked like it had snagged in the machine or another piece of clothing, and a manager could help me in accessing what could be done the following day. I returned the following day to speak with the manager, who without pausing told me that it was "insect damage"!!!! I was insulted and mystified how the insect damage had only occurred when dry cleaning when I was back in Lansing after countless dry cleanings in NYC. There solution was refunded my dry cleaning, no compensation for the suit. I write this review just as a warning. I loved that blazer and it was not inexpensive, if you are okay with possibility of your garments being frayed and having disrespectful service continue to go to Baryames. I will now find another cleaners. read more

Steve S. Baryames of DeWitt, They ruined 2 of my shirts now, refused to take care of the 1st one, now in the process of dealing with the second one. I spoke with Mr. Baryames on the first shirt. He said ". . . they are not in the business of ruining shirts . . .", sorry about your luck. The damage was in the form of brown spots, like a rusty iron or press was used? splatter like pattern. Baryames Cleaners gets my business not only because they do a great job, but the customer service is fantastic. I drop my things off during the morning rush hour when there are lots of people. I am greeted by name as soon as I walk in the door, and the clerk pulls up my computer record without me telling her who I am. I have seen her on weekends outside of Baryames and she calls me by name. This amazes me since my dry cleaning needs only require me to visit her store less than once a month. We have used the Okemos Baryames occasionally for many years. Recently we had an issue that we could not resolve with the local employees. I contacted Art repeatedly and received no reply. I note that Art who represents Baryames is quick to reply once a complaint has been made public, or filed with the BBB, but isn't so quick to resolve issues if they are not in the public eye. read more

I have just picked up a rug that was cleaned by the Dewitt facility only to be told that it has been ruined. Upon opening the bag, I found that the backing has come off and it has been shredded around the edges and there is a large ball of knotted string hanging from it. When I asked the manager what could be done, her response was that she would not charge me for the cleaning "this time". She then said that they never know when something will come out bad and that the customer takes the responsibility for any ruined items and that I "am lucky" that she was not going to charge me. I am sick about this. Not only am I out a very nice Pottery Barn rug but also I was treated with complete disrespect. If there was a no star rating I would have given that. read more
