I was a student here for 9 years. Let me tell you that this place is THE definition of deception…read more They may try to make you think it's the greatest school ever with their pretty entrance and their giant campus, but nothing could be further from the truth. What your student will actually receive is a way below par education that the intention behind it is to put them in a position of hopefully mooching off the government (which it's government run, so what do you expect?), rather than teaching them about how to handle the real world. But that's only the tip of the iceberg. IF your student is a dorm student, prepare for them to be subjected to staff members who have no idea how to handle students with disabilities who enforce strict military type guidelines and will subject them to constant verbal abuse and if they're really unlucky, they'll even throw in some physical violence too. I even know about multiple sexual abuses that happened here on top of multiple suicide attempts amongst students and staff members. Seriously, I could write a whole book about what I saw there in my 9 years in this concentration camp. FSDB doesn't care about its students, just it's image, and I'm working to expose it for what it really is.

I just saw Max's review regarding The Little Cardinals Nest (VPK) at Cunningham Creek Elementary…read moreand I concur with everything he said. The staff was absolutely incredible and they made us feel like we were part of their family. Ms. Karen is an absolutely incredible teacher and my daughter still talks about her to this day like many of Ms. Karen's former students. I was absolutely stunned at the quality of instruction my daughter received at LCN. She quickly learned her alphabet and then learned to recite it backwards which I still can't do. Then she began to cite the Greek alphabet and I am a little ashamed but when she asked for help I had no idea what the next letter was. By the end of the year my daughter was beginning to read and she was beginning to solve math problems. I was so proud of my daughter and the staff at LCN and I would highly recommend them without hesitation.

Even so, I had to say that the VPK staff at Cunningham Creek is absolutely exceptional. Stacie Prosser is an excellent director and communicator that made the whole administrative side of VPK very easy. And Karen McKeon's commitment and passion for her students is unparalleled. If you are able to get your kid into Little Cardinal's Nest at Cunningham Creek, consider yourself lucky. Our daughter loved LCN every day and the program really prepared her for Kindergarten.

I really can't understand for the life of me HOW she has been there since 2008 other then putting on a fake act when her "higher ups" are around. My child was homeschooled prior to going to this school and on her FIRST day of school this woman decided to get in my face about where I was standing to pick her up rather then being nice and/or helping a new parent at the school know where they should go in the future she was flat out RUDE and DISGUSTING and rolling her eyes so far into the back of her head I wasn't sure they would come back!!!! If I would have had the displeasure of dealing with this particular woman when I did the tour here my child would NOT be attending this school right now. Thankfully though she does have the sweetest teacher to make up for their lack of administration. Someone needs to have a serious talk with how she interacts with parents because had there not been a lot of children around at the time I would have really given her a piece of my mind. However I'm sure those kids heard exactly how RUDE that lady was being too. She needs to get her self together!!!! She ruined my whole experience there ON THE VERY FIRST DAY!!!!!!!!!!

SJCA has failed me many times, whether that was them disrespecting me or them not taking action…read more SJCA has a long repeated history of horrible mistakes, 3 members of my family including me attended there and some was good and some was bad. The one good thing about this school is the curriculum, it is one of the best and most high standard curriculums. However, there are way too many bad experiences I have gained from there. At this school they focus way too much on kids chewing gum and forgetting there belt or other small things. There are no words to describe who they are picking as staff and they cant control one single thing outside of their curriculum. This school is not fit to be k-12 yet and they need to work on perfecting their other grades before even thinking about adding high school. Another problem is that they are constantly cutting funding for student activities. At most school events (which there are practically none compared to other schools) there are many things that are missing due to them cutting funding, including food and drinks to purchase. SJCA needs a lesson taught to them before they keep taking away the American high school experience for teenagers. I would LOVE to see this school improve, but they are too focused on the small things and they don't realize what kids are missing when at this school. There are many problems that this school has but my main concern is: "Are the students getting a Jr. High/High School experience that the average one gets." The answer is no, and the school needs to realize the memories that could be made here. SJCA has a GREAT curriculum but they are still having a hard time figuring out what it takes to give their students a good high school experience. School is not just about learning and it is NOT just about having fun, there should be a even balance that makes students feel involved, excepted and respected. My final ask of you SJCA is to give the students what the average student gets. I know they put in a TON of effort to get good grades trust me I know, but I also know looking back on it that there is so much more than just getting your education, there is friendships and memories to be made so let those things happen.
