Boynton Beach Memorial Park and Mausoleum

The 12.3 acre Boynton Beach Memorial Park and Mausoleum is where you can find the pioneer families…read moreof Boynton Beach like Harvey Oyer Sr., one of the town's first mayors. This is one of two city owned cemeteries, the other is Sara Simms Memorial Gardens. The cemetery was created in 1900 when it was a vacant piece of land where residents buried family members. It is believed the oldest burial is from between 1903 to 1906. In 1947 Green Street which is now Seacrest Blvd. was extended which required 23 feet from the cemetery. As a result some of the graves are directly up against the fence. The city purchased the land in the 1950's from the developer of High Point. There may be more bodies than markers as they have degraded through the years, especially if they were wood instead of marble. The old section of the cemetery is on the east side while newer burials are on the west side. The mausoleum on the west side of the cemetery has a stained glass mural created by Conrad Pickel who created the stained glass in many of the churches in the area. He also created a statue of a child called Loaned from Heaven that is in the children's section of the cemetery. Burials have now been limited to Boynton Beacjh residents because space has run out. The cemetery has been re-platted several times to make more room. It is only $500 dollars for a plot here for city residents compared to the $1,000 private cemeteries in the area charge. Once the cemetery is full the city will still maintain it but will cut down on their cost. If you are looking for the history of Boynton Beach, this is a good place to start.

How can one effectively write a review about a funeral home? How can one say how much they loved…read morethe experience? You just can't. With that being said, this will probably be one of my shortest reviews. And of course out of respect, no pictures will be attached. One of my coworkers passed away, someone I liked very much and I can't say that about all of my coworkers, because some I honestly don't care for. I don't go to work to win a popularity contest, I go to earn a living, just like most of us do. The funeral home was located in a sketchy part of town. Off Federal, near the train tracks, between Boynton Beach Blvd and Gateway. Not the nicest part of town. The parking lot had a lot of spaces when I arrived, but then again I am always early. When I left the lot was full. I am glad I was early because I was able to park near the front entrance. An employee opened the door for me and pointed me in the right direction. This is a very small funeral home and most of the visitors had to stand in the lobby. Even so, we were able to hear everything because they had a great sound system. The bathroom was very clean and the interior was tastefully decorated. Each employee I encountered was very sweet. This is my first review for a funeral home, so I am sorry if I am leaving out some details. My coworker will be deeply missed and I think he would have been pleased with the turn-out and all the nice speeches that were made in his honor. I am only rating this as a three star review because the neighborhood was intimidating and seating was very limited. RIP Gordon.

My mother's remains were sent to me via USPS and the wooden box was chipped and split, damaged in transit due to poor packing by The Neptune Society. I was sent a new brass replacement urn. I called Lorne and Sons for several reasons. First they were local to me and secondly, they are family owned and operated with a LONG history in Delray Beach. I spoke with Michael and told him about my dilemma, that I needed my mother's ashes transferred from the damaged box to the new brass urn. He was very sympathetic to my plight and told me they would take care of the transfer as soon as I received the new urn. I called back the next day and spoke with Michael again. He told me his brother Patrick would be available to help me within the hour. When I called to speak with Patrick, I was pleasantly surprised to find that he was expecting my call and he was fully aware of my situation and that he was able to meet with us right away. Patrick transferred my mother's ashes to the new urn while we waited. I wanted some Holy cards and he assisted me in picking them out and printed them right away. Patrick also did something else for me that I wasn't expecting. He helped me understand what I was feeling. Because my mom did not want any kind of services after her death I was struggling with the grief process. I didn't have a normal experience with having a funeral for closure. He assured me that with my circumstances what I was feeling, or not feeling was pretty normal. He went above and beyond that day. He helped me and I really appreciate it. The kindness and compassion I received from these two brothers helped me so much during one of my most difficult times. Thank you both from the bottom of my heart.
