It was my first time using Bartlett's Tree Service, Springfield. Jose and Wilber were very professional and courteous. Oh where to begin. So I had Bart come out to give me an estimate based off of a friends recommendation. When he got here he was pleasant and we told him what we wanted (two trees cut down, one trimmed off the house, and the stumps ground down and hauling off any wood) he told us he couldn't grind the stumps and he'd leave them 6-8" above ground. Well that seemed odd considering one was off our back deck which seemed like a tripping hazard. For that amount of work I thought $1,455 was a little steep but everyone we called were too busy to return a call at that point. My partner signed the contract 8/24/17. We tried calling them, faxing, and even email over the course of the past two months! Even have the proof to show it all, and we NEVER heard from him. I found another contractor (Topless Tree) who said the one tree Bart was going to trim really needed to be taken down because with the split it would eventually give us troubles. Topless quoted us $2000 to have four trees dropped, and three stumps ground down, AND trim a fifth tree. So we told Topless since we hadn't heard from anyone at Bartlett we wanted him to do the work. I come home yesterday to see two trees dropped and a tree trimmed with no wood hauled off. I called Topless and he said no he hadn't come out he would have called first. Then we find out after Bartlett finally returned our call that they came out. They never called to let us know they were doing so, which meant my dogs were literally scared shitless from all the noise (I was planning on taking them to my moms because they said they would call us the day before) when we confronted Bart he told us that he must have had the wrong number. We told him it's the same number we have left with all the voicemails and fax and emails we sent him and he said oh well I don't know how that happened. So now I have to pay someone else to come finish a half ass job and the one tree stump can't be cut down any further because it's too much of a safety risk at this point, if he would have left it alone we would have been able to get it cut down closer.
