Owner Tom stopped by 3x to see how things were going, to answer questions and see if we or his team needed anything. Everything went super smoothly. We especially appreciate installer Louie's advice. I thought I wanted transition pieces where the wood floor met tile. Louie scowled his disapproval and suggested another idea with better aesthetics: With expert workmanship, he and his partner created a clean line between the two surfaces (no transition piece). Beautiful! My idea: circa 1980. Louie's solution: Timeless, classic, elegant. Louie could have stuck with the plan. He gave us something way better. Before starting this project, I thought: I'd really like to patronize a small local business -- even if that meant paying more. Surprisingly, Epic's price came in lower than the big box. His team was on time, professional, and incredibly respectful. They put down protective matting as they went in and out of the basement, swept the floors daily, cleaned up debris as they worked, and treated our home with real care. They even took their shoes off before coming inside. It genuinely felt like they were remodeling their own home, not just doing a job. The crew truly felt like family, and the before-and-after transformation of our basement is incredible. There were also a lot of thoughtful touches that really stood out. That level of pride and follow-through is rare. They painted the ceiling black and were meticulous--no missed spots, no shortcuts. Everything was done with care. We agreed on a timeline, and they started when they said they would, finished on time, and left the space spotless when the job was done. To make things even easier, we simply picked out samples from Home Depot, and Chris and his team handled all the materials. The entire process was smooth and stress-free. All we had to do was make one call, do a little planning, and enjoy our new basement one to two weeks later. And honestly, our basement is now one of our favorite parts of the house. It's peaceful, quiet, and truly enjoyable. What we expected to be just a more functional space turned into a place we actually love spending time in. Poor communication - they didnt respect our time. told us multiple times they would be at our house in one hour and then would call 3 hours later saying they couldn't make the appointment. then we would have to follow-up to reschedule. 2. Subs - several of their subs were unprofessional and disparaged the owners while on the job site. 3. Quality - miscut stone and then tried to convince us that it was ok and told us about other imperfections in our house....or to "Cover up the mistake with a plant" lol. When we asked for the stone to be replaced at their cost, they said it was too late and that they would provide a discount instead. They do not value quality or service. 4. While we were negotiating a final price (based on contractor error) they filed a lien on our property.... before the work was even complete. Horrible ethics. After payment in full, still didnt complete the work. and we do not want them to come back in our home after this experience. I highly recommend finding a reputable contractor to work with on your renovation.

Six hour into the removal I asked; What are you guys doing and how long is this going to take? (note it would take them 4 days at this rate) I called the company about it and received no answer, called the Forman got no answer and I could not communicate with the workers because of a language issue. With that said I gave them my power tool to do the job they removed the tile in 6 hours yet left the cement board attached. Asked the company about the cement board and if they can tile over. They said NO. Then I asked for quotes on the tile. Flash forward 12 Days, got the quote and it was extremely high so I decided to not do it. AT that point I asked them since the demo included cement board and I rented the guys my tools so What is the new price? Considering that the company breached the contract I offered them a fair price to compensate the work completed, he replied with NO you pay me $2350 or I will sue you. Going as far to tell me it cost them 1000$ of garbage. During the whole process the quote was shady (done over text) , work was shady and incomplete and most important communication was AWFUL!!!!! I would completely avoid them unless you prepare yourself to get taken advantage, have awful communication and have mid to lower level work done.
