Although crowded on a Saturday afternoon, there's plenty of space to go around. Perfect swimming area for little ones. Not much space in the lap pool, and the slides were closed when we went, but would not deter us from going again. Lots of shade, which is crucial in the Texas heat. Cash at the window, but you can pay with a credit card at the outside stations. If you have toddlers, this is the perfect place.

Karen lifeguard getting onto anything and everything. The whole vibe was so tense

This place is a nightmare! Everything was closed except the lap pool and it was extremely packed!! I paid for the tickets prior to reaching the front desk, where they posted everything was closed. Somehow me and my 3 little ones were still accepted despite the pool being completely full. There was hardly any room to move, I'm talking we could only stand in the pool!! We all at one point got hit, kicked, pulled down by others around us bc of the lack of space! The Lifeguards were getting onto people for holding onto ropes, running, standing in lap lanes, walking on padded area every 3 minutes. Literally whistling and yelling constantly. It was tense, crowded and dangerous. Save yourself some time, what a waste.

Not very impressed with this one. At all. They run at their own free will, sometimes you might get to go down the slides and sometimes you can't. One lifeguard has no issues with anything, another has problems with everything...while another sits his stand (on any rotation) and stares blankly at his crotch?? Not paying attention to ANYTHING...Wth? The place sits *literally* on the tracks of *nice* and, well..areas I typically tend to stay away from. Basically the location is HORRIBLE. I feared leaving my vehicle in the lot. Low and behold, I come to Yelp and look...and someone had theirs broken into just recently. Yes, I know that can happen anywhere, but some places are more prominent than others. We were there for 20 minutes and my kids both said they prefer our other pools over this one. Thank goodness, because I do too. They have 2 slides...they are not always open. And when one is...it does not mean they both are. They have one short diving board in a rather small section tucked around the corner. It's most promising feature was the kiddie section. Covered. Shady. Anything else? Not so much. The few tables they have are located near the restoom (women's) which smelled terribly. Overall, the couple times going..was enough. Probably won't be back.

This was a great public pool. My kids and I had a great time. There is shade over the baby pool and fun activities for the big kids. My kids are loving ninja warrior and spent over an hour trying to run across the lilly pad water feature!! The next hour they spent jumping off the diving board. I packed a cooler of snacks and enjoyed watching my kids play. It was a bit crowded but the lifeguards seemed to be attending to their areas. I was hesitant to recommend this to friends with small children but now I feel confident it would not be too overwhelming. I could quickly locate all four of my kids. I'm going back!!

    My daughter's battle face.

Your first impression of the pool will probably be wow it's large with so many lanes and many areas where you can just swim or float to your hearts content. Another impression might be and it was especially for me the bright blue water of the pool. It looks refreshing, cool, and inviting. Deep Eddiy pool has a oblong shape typical of large pools of its size. The pool has architecturally clean lines with precise corners. When you stand on the pool platform the vastness of the pool rushes to the forefront. Everytime I stick my foot in the water of the Deep Eddy pool, that cool refreshing feeling envelopes my body. Entry fees are very reasonable and can beas low as $2 per day. Paid parking is available in front of the pool and on the street. Nice relaxing self-care day...

There are no lounge chairs so bring a blanket for the ground and expect it to get dirty because people have to sit in the grass/dirt. There are a few trees for shade. No alcohol or food/drink allowed. I brought in my water bottle and no one said anything so I guess water is ok There is a parking lot but you must pay to park and it gets filled quickly Bike trails lead up to it Locker rooms are half indoor/half outdoor and rather dingy. Several lifeguards on duty. periodically they make everyone get out of the pool for 5 min (one an hour?) There needs to be someone skimming the pool throughout the day..there's a ton of bugs/leaves that get in the water. Also, since people lounge on the dirt lawn, everyone's feet are dirty when getting in the pool. The pool ropes had some sort of black sludge caked into them. It was pretty gross. $5 for an adult. Free for veterans.

This place is one of the few Austin-area parks that have a shaded playground and as all Texan's know it's hotter than hell during the summer, shade is a huge-huge-huge bonus for the kiddos. [Btw- there might be a summer camp that takes place at this park, there was a few (young) kids running wild on the playground, tossing their (wasted, yes because they had like 4 each) milk cartons all over the playground, screaming so loudly my two year old wanted to ditch playing and go because the kids were as he said, 'crazy,' ha. So I wanted to make sure we made a stop here while we were in Austin as it seemed essential for having a good city experience here. Barton Springs is open every day but Thursdays so plan accordingly for that. I am told it's a day where they clean the pool. It took a little bit of navigating to get to the pool as we had to plan to come here on a hot day as opposed to a rainy day which we were encountering here on our trip but it worked out fine. We landed on a warm day and got pool time. And Barton Springs is perfect to come to on a hot day. The temperature is between 68-70 degrees which makes it great swimming all year round here. The bottom of the pool has plant life and it's not all concrete and polished at the bottom so be aware of that... it's definitely has a natural look. There are also signs not to touch the rocks at the bottom as it is the home to some rare amphibians I believe. But aside from that as long as you follow the signs you're good. The water is extremely refreshing and invigorating and even after leaving the pool and you are on your way you still feel for a while thise sensations which added more to the impressive experience we had here. Parking fees and entrance fees to the pool are reasonable. It's $5 if you are a resident and $9 if you aren't. I highly, highly recommend making a stop at Barton Springs if you are in Austin... it definitely helps complete the city experience here.

It's a pretty big park, offering several different landscapes and activities. Great for families and outings with friends. The city views were beautiful. The forest and springs had that cooling effect that made the hot sun bearable. The springs were cold but very refreshing once fully submerged. A little too cold for my water loving 2 yr old. He also didn't like the green algae but still enjoyed the experience. Warning: VERY SLIPPERY in the springs and uneven rocky trails in some areas. Have water shoes if you don't like to be barefoot. The bottom of the springs swimming section feels smooth; slippery with some uneven dips. We stayed on the approved 4ft or less side for my kid's life vest. Bring a float or rent a canoe to enjoy the deeper waters. Pro:There are several ADA ramps we could have used for the stroller. As 1st time visitors we took some risky chances trekking down rocky slopes and too many stairs that wasn't necessary. Find the ramps. Con: Multiple entrances and parking. We were almost defeated by the parking situation on a Saturday early afternoon (1pm). We drove around over an hour looking for a spot in the many parking lots closer to the swimming pool section. With so many entries and people barely leaving it was a constant flow of new cars swooping in forcing us into lot loops. So close to turning back, we kept following the water trail and figure there had to be another way to the water! Bingo we parked on the other side of swimming section and took the 12 min walk directly through the fields to the pool area. If you're like us you'll drive around the parking lots so much you'll learn the landscapes. Must pay for parking. We got a ticket after following the advice that there are no parking fees on the weekend. Don't listen just pay the hourly rate parking fees. Swimming Pool Fee: There is a minimum fee associated with entering the springs. Fees are tiered by age and residence. As non-residents we only paid $13 ($9 adult/$4 young kid). Veterans are free, no ticket, must show VA ID. Reasonable fees for the amenities, especially the life guards and bathrooms. Downloading the app is easier and faster than standing in line at the credit card kiosks. The teller windows are a little faster but, cash only, We were pleasantly excited to also take advantage of the playground and train ride. Super cute. 2 year old loved both. Highly recommended for visitors who like to explore, be in nature and community, and stay cool.
