ABC Animal Clinic

So ABC is under new ownership since the last time I wrote a review, and I like them a lot better…read morethis time. They didn't try to pressure me into extra services, and helped my dog get what he needed. My dog was in a fight, so I needed a clinic close by and one that is willing to take my dog in during this time. They were nice enough to give their first cancellation to my baby boy. The only con is I think they are a little pricey, but I paid it anyway because my dog was in pain. They told me they gave him an injection for itching, and I paid $105 in total. I wish I knew what they gave him for it to be that expensive, the receipt didn't say what it was and I can't remember what I saw on the consent form. They should also give owners detailed instructions on what needs to be done at home. I was told to just give him warm compresses, but I don't really know how often I need to do this. Their staff is really kind and caring, and I have yet to meet the doctor. This is the only vet I will go to in Barstow if my SB vet is unable to take my dogs. The thing about vets is that ownerships and the doctors change all the time, so it's good to give a vet another chance when things change to see if it improved. I know someone who owns a clinic in barstow and they always struggle to find vets that want to stay in Barstow, and I'm told this is why they charge so much. I'm sure they would lower the prices if they could, idk... Thank you ABC

Kandys Pups N Stuff Pet Spa & Hotel

Amazing place! Very clean and so inviting for the dogs…read more We were in a pinch after our family member couldn't watch our two dogs. Kandy replied so quickly and even stayed until we reached the hotel after hours to wait for us. She kept us updated with how our dogs were doing and sent pictures. It was really a wonderful experience since it was our first time leaving our dogs with someone who wasn't family. We were able to enjoy our trip stress free. When we picked up our dogs they were bathed, feed and ready to go. The entire experience was amazing. The facility is beautiful and clean. They really pay attention to detail and care for your pets. Will definitely be coming back. Great experience. Thank you Kandy for taking care of our dogs!

Watch out for businesses like this and CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS!…read moreI recently tried a Kandys Pups N Stuff Pet Spa. Simple enough -- wash, brush and groom. Got the bill, paid it, went home and noticed I was charged $8.31 in "Sales Tax." Now, as far as I can tell from California tax rules, you don't charge sales tax just because you provided a service. So I politely called the business and told the owner she might want to look into it because I didn't believe sales tax should have been charged on the grooming service. Her response? "We always charge sales tax. We pay taxes, so we charge sales tax." I told her I wasn't going to argue with her, but she really should look at the rules when running a business. Her response again: "We charge sales tax." Okay then... I politely said goodbye and hung up. So they can keep the $8.31. It's not going to break me. But that $8.31 just cost them a new customer who would have spent about $1,254 a year with them. Not exactly a great business decision! Whether they simply don't understand the tax rules or there's something else going on, I don't know. But either way, it's wrong to charge customers a tax that isn't actually owed. So just a heads-up -- check your receipts. Eight bucks here and eight bucks there adds up pretty damn fast when a business is doing it to every customer.
