Great place to live been here since 2019. They keep it clean and it's very quiet. A lot of families and military live here.

I submitted…read moremy renters insurance on time, but because it wasn't submitted before the month began, they imposed the fee anyway. The following month, after confirming they received my insurance, they charged me again, claiming the declaration page wasn't included. This feels like a deliberate attempt to nickel-and-dime residents. Lisa Anderson, the regional manager, is impossible to reach, and the leasing and corporate offices seem disorganized and unhelpful. It's frustrating to see hard-earned money taken unfairly due to what feels like predatory practices. Residents deserve better accountability and professionalism. The leasing office is insisting I pay with a cashier's check to avoid their $25 fee, but if I pay online, they demand I include the fee--and they can't even confirm if it will be refunded. It's not about the $25, which I can afford; it's the principle. This management company will seemingly do anything to nickel-and-dime residents, showing no regard for fairness. On top of that, the property is infested with roaches and rats, and there's a constant bad smell coming from the vents and bathroom sink. Instead of addressing these serious issues, they focus on squeezing extra money from tenants. It's unacceptable and reflects poorly on such cheap, negligent management.

It's a nice apartment but the rent price is way to much and no worth it. You have people jumping…read moreover gates digging in the trash. No parking spots are given so it's a first come first serve kind of deal . Not worth paying almost 1400 for a 1 bed 1 bath.

A SHINY QUARTER IN THE ROUGH…read more Lived here longer than I expected (2+ years) and privileged to meet some stellar people. On the facilities end, there was Ismael tasked with the never-ending responsibility of keeping all communal areas, laundry room and 100+ units in working order. On the business end, there was Linda in charge of maintaining amicable landlord-tenant relations and ensuring complaints were addressed thoroughly and promptly. For some reason, Linda left the managerial position and issues began to fester, sometimes boil over. For instance, the main gate would at-times malfunction and be left open (especially during high winds), which defeats the purpose of having a security gate. Or, cars would just be left abandoned and residents returning from their full-time jobs would have to search painfully for a parking spot. Or, a neighbor's window was boarded up with plywood because a rock had been hurled through their patio door. Right before I moved out, I learned prices went up by 50%! And still all units were fully occupied. Sadly, Desert Heights is the best of really bad alternatives. Welcome to Barstow, CA .

Horrible place to live. It is dirty when you move in. Nothing seems to work in the apartments , for…read moreexample the dishwasher was broken the entire time I lived there and it was 10 months. I asked them to fix it countless times. The leasing ladies are very rude until you are about to move out, then they magically turn friendly and act like they are sad you are leaving. Don't bother cleaning the place when you leave as they will charge you a cleaning fee no matter how good you clean it. Please if you value living in a decent place don't choose here you will regret it. By far the worst place you could live. Lighting is horrible, my apartment was ant infested and they never came to fix the issue, I had to deal with the ants myself. The water is gross in the apartment and will damage your hair and skin. There is no parking in the entire place if you come home late, and they will tow your car if you park in a no parking spot even through there is no available spots. Nothing about this place is any good. Save your time and money and choose some place else. They will take all of your deposit money too so don't expect to get it back. Hopefully this can save someone from renting there.

I've lived here for a year and a half and have to move for my next job, but I really love this…read moreplace. It's a great community of people to begin with, and even though hundreds of people live here, it's so quiet, all you hear is the birds chirping. It's got 2 pools and jacuzzis that are professionally maintained and kept crystal clear. The management is friendly and capable and goes the extra mile to organize monthly events and coffee clatches with tenants at the office. Lupita also worked with the corporate ownership to get them to pay for the feral cats around the complex to get spayed or neutered and their shots to cap the population and keep it healthy. The maintenance crew, Luis and Jorge, are friendly and helpful and hard-working staff members who always get the job done promptly and skillfully, and Lupita and Victoria are also quick to make a work order if anything needs repair. A bonus is that the Wash connect vendor just installed brand new washers and dryers in both laundry rooms a few months ago! And finally, the entire complex is at the edge of town up on a hill just below the sports complex, and from the corner of the property, you can explore the wide open desert and networks of dirt roads for miles on end. While sitting in the pool or jacuzzi, your view is of the open desert with the mountains in the distance. And yet, for all that, the rent is only $800/mo for a 1 br, $900 for a 2 br, and not much more for a 3 br. They also accept section 8 housing vouchers. And yet there's more! Each unit comes equipped with a dishwasher, full gas oven and stovetop, and, unlike many rentals in Barstow, a refrigerator! Each unit also has its own water heater, and central heat and AC. I'd move here again in a heartbeat!

Mind you non of the employees are wearing a mask at all. I walk back to my car grab a mask and come back in. I'm wear my mask and I come back inside and look at the lady and I say "excuse me but why do I have to wear a mask of non of you are wearing masks"? She said we are employees so we don't have to wear them. I am not against masks I still wear them at my job. My issue is her bad attitude. So had no right to put her hand in my face nor did. She have any right to act the way she did. That was really unprofessional and very ill mannered.
