I had a terrible experience with this guy that still haunts me to this day.
I had been referred to this person, and the very first session I had with him was excellent (and also free).
I could not afford his fees, but the first session was so good that I booked another session (this was two or three years later).
We had the session, I cannot remember what we talked about, but when it came time to pay, I had forgotten my credit card. I made another appointment with him to come back with my credit card to pay him, and to see what I need to do with regard psychotherapy that I could afford.
This is where the problems developed.
The session was the next day. He was not in a good mood. We sat down and started to talk. I'm not sure what I said but he started to get angry with me. He referred to my dx as if it was some kind of label. (e.g. schizophrenics are this . . . ).
He got louder and louder, saying: "You need therapy twice a week for two years, . . . for four years, . . . three . . . four times a week!
He was angry, very angry, raising his voice, acting totally inappropriate. He was saying this as if psychotherapy was some kind of punishment and my sentence was psychotherapy four times a week for four years!
He said something with regard to "You didn't need to come in today. I told you that!"
After he was done berating me, I said: "Conservatives have a belief about people that we are fundamentally fatally flawed." He said: "is that right." As if he knew I was making a valid point.
The one saving grace of his, is that we negotiated a fee of $100/session (total $200), and he said: "Give me $150 for yesterday and today."
I know some therapist can work well with some people and not with others. Judge for yourselves, but I would never see this person again, considering how unethical he treated me. read more
