Towed my car with me standing there as they said there's nothing they can do. I was visiting my daughter and parked less than 10 minutes in a parking lot that had PLENTY of spaces open. They were out to get money at anyone's expense. Bad luck on my part- as soon as I parked apparently 3 tow trucks were there like vultures trying to make some money They first told me I needed $130 cash on site for them to not take my car. They wouldn't wait for me to grab the cash and then when I got to their lot, they charged me $290 and also required cash. What a scam. So sad that people can be so heartless... read more

The towing company will tow cars 24/7 but somehow still have an additional charge for getting your car back "after hours". Also they really should be nicer to people considering the business that they are in. read more

My insurance scheduled a tow of my vehicle for 9-10am. They called at 7am from a personal cell phone number. I did not pick up. No knock on the door. No call from the towing company till 1 hr later. I was pissed off and I let the young lady know it when I finally got them on the phone. Then they said they couldn't tow my car because they called 2 hours early and I didn't recognize a person's cell phone. I love Athens. I have lived here all my life. But being treated like a piece of shit will make me never ever use or recommend this fucked up company. I need my car back. And they they fucked that up and then blamed it on me. read more

My car would not start and I was stranded at closing time in a shopping center on Atlanta Hwy.,,,Helpful employees and the Manager came to my rescue with their jumper cables and cell phones. Thankfully a young man suggested Barrett's and called for me; they were very timely and helpful to tow my car. The 1 is for Angela and helpful staff, as they very nice when I first came in to pick up my car after an accident the other day (a driver who cut over 4 lanes into mine and I had to brake so fast it flipped my truck on it's side and the driver fled). I didn't want a tow but it was police-initiated to get it out of the road. I do wish I had some say or at least was presented with the option to simply tow it down the street to my home, but apparently you have to specifically request this and I was much too entangled in the chaos and getting patched up with the EMS to be thinking about/knowing to ask at the time, which is a policy I feel is unfair to disoriented drivers who've just come from an accident. I got asked a million and one questions after the accident from all parties involved except the towing folks. I will never know if this is intentional to get more money or what (also their lot closes around the time most people get off work, so you'll most likely have a late fee). I had got to the office a few minutes past 5, their close, as my Lyft driver had a glitch and I got there a bit late, 5:04pm. I apologized and asked if I could still pick up my car, she said it was fine, and I paid. Actually decent prices (probable fees not included) However, the staff is EXTREMELY non-communicative, as I was essentially expected to already know their protocols as a first time participant. Particularly still being in the lot due to resolving a flat tire that an employee pointed out that I'd overlooked. This is despite someone picking up their car right beside mine for a late fee, one employee walked by me and said nothing, and 2 more employees who jumped off my car didn't mention it. I thank and tell them, "lemme call and see my options and I can be on my way." During the process of resolving the remaining setbacks, it's relayed to me to go back up to their office. Initially I thought they were offering their help, but it turns out it was more of a 'being called to the principal's office' setup. It was made clear to me that the manager was more concerned with menial business logistics over caring for and ensuring the customer is taken care of, at least in my case. In a most unprofessional and lordly manner, one of the first things he tells me when I come in: "You're lucky you even got to stay on the lot," and claimed he was "trying to help me," yet didn't even ask me about the situation. 1. I had been focusing all of my efforts to aiding my situation to be gone already. I don't want to hang around. I want my car and to get on with my errands and day. 2. Would have taken less time if they, the office, had offered any help (don't expect, but a valid point regardless); all I needed was a jack and tire change 3. I got there already past close, apologized to the employee that was there and was okay with any fees I would incur from this, but why didn't she tell me this huge protocol of theirs to clear out ASAP? 4. Why didn't the other 3 employees tell me? Not being nice anymore after being treated as lesser than. I walked out, slammed the door, and proceeded to drive my truck off the lot with a completely flare tire on the rim. Drove across the way and got consent to stay in a residential lot. Called AAA and had them re-route and (gladly) waited longer, little under an hour total to not deal with them anymore. I think they need more competition, as it seems they're riding some advantages of monopolozation in the local towing services around, as the only other one on AAA is based in Lawrenceville, GA. Besides the general manager, who could benefit from training in customer relations, essentially the rest of the employees were fine or nice in my exchanges. I don't do a lot of reviews on Yelp but my experience with Barrett's was badass. And then I came on here and that guy, Phuc N...what an A-hole. Barrett's is a small shop run by a seemingly really good dude. Was where he said, when he said he would be. Also, I was transporting an antique car so I really needed someone to come who I could trust would take good care of it. He was recommended by a friend and I was pumped to find he was a clean cut, good dude. He even felt bad that when he dropped the car off it wasn't perfectly centered in the parking space. Not even a question I would use him again. In my opinion it's one of a kind... Nice job man. read more

We contacted AAA and they sent out Barret's towing for a winch out of the mud. The driver was not only on time, but about 30 minutes early. He was very personable and pulled us right out of the mud. Great folks and top notch equipment that is well taken care of. read more

On January 19th, 2020 at 1:10 PM, the driver of your companies towing truck #15 proceeded to roll through the stop sign at Athena Rd. and Spring Valley Road. The drive became agitated at me for blowing my horn at them since I was already in the intersection and feared being hit by your vehicle. Your driver then proceeded to tailgate my vehicle down the road while driving in the middle of the road on a solid yellow. Then when I tried to get out of the road to let your crazy driver go past they proceeded to pass me on a double yellow, blow their horn, and flip me off. So I turned off the road to get away from them. They proceeded to stop in the middle of the road and attempt to follow me. I left the area. This driver should not be on the road and does not follow what your website states about having a safety record. This driver jeopardized the safety of everyone on the road in that area. I would suggest you don't allow this person to represent your company. read more

Let me start off by saying that I have never experienced such unprofessionalism by a business before. After parking my car at Farmers Exchange in downtown Athens, I came outside to find my car gone. It was a game day in Athens, so I understand that parking is chaotic and that spots are limited. However, when I parked in the lot, I did not see any signs that prohibited parking there. Upon further inspection, my friends and I found a sign that was extremely old and weathered. The red font was a light faded pink, and you could not read the sign without being within a foot or so of it. After calling the towing company and mentioning the lack of an adequate sign, my comments were ignored and I was instructed to bring $225 to the office to retrieve my car (cash or money order only... of course). The woman on the phone was very unhelpful and dismissed all of my comments. Upon entering the towing office, a group of men and women were sitting around behind the desk. I told them my car make/model, then proceeded to show them a picture of the faded sign. I told them I was not happy, and that I felt that I should not have to pay when the sign and instructions were clearly not visible. They instructed me that a new sign had been put up, to which my friends and I responded that a new sign was no where to be present. After arguing about this for a minute or so, the woman became very irritated and asked for my money and license. Here, I will admit that I did not behave as I should have. When the woman asked me for my license, I took it out of my purse and tossed it onto the counter. Like I said, I should have handed it to her, but I was very frustrated. She asked what my problem was, and I responded that I honestly was not very happy about the current situation. She said that she was not happy about it either... to which I chuckled and said that she was the one making $225 tonight. After this comment, things began to get heated between my friends and I and the staff behind the desk. The woman instructed my friend to "grow up" and began to curse at us. However, the worst part was how the two women at the desk returned my items to me. One woman threw my license back at me, while the other woman threw my change and receipt back at me. The change and receipt ended up on the ground, and the vulgar comments continued to come as I picked up my change and walked out to find my car. I know I did not behave as I should have, but this is a business, and this business should be able to handle customer complaints in a calm, professional manner. This business is extremely unprofessional and clearly does not know how to work with the public. After this incident, I returned to the parking lot where I was towed and was still unable to find the "new sign" that they claimed was put up. It appears that a sign may have been removed from the wall in one place. Once again, I understand the parking rules, but under these circumstances, I believe that this company is running a complete scam. Terrible customer service and terrible company that is using tricks to make a quick buck. read more

Every experience I've had with Barretts towing has been A+ but today I contacted roadside assistance and the company they initially contacted was going to take 4 hours so I ask they contact Barretts. They did and Chris called in a little over an hour. I told him I had lost a $1400 diamond tennis bracelet probably near the car. He delivered my car and had the tennis bracelet in his pocket. I was amazed that he took the time to look and has such honesty and integrity. He also got the key to turn but I wouldn't later when I tried so it does need to go to a shop but I'm so glad i requested Barretts and Chris was the tow man. Highly recommend this company. read more

Mason, an overly-opinionated, suburb-raised, mama's boy doesn't recognize good service when he sees it. If the driver didn't feel comfortable towing his car he must have had good reason. I just had mine dropped off and, literally, the first thing I wanted to do was leave an amazing Yelp review. My car blew out on the highway yesterday and I had to leave it overnight in a precarious location. I called early this morning around 8AM and the lady, I didn't get her name, was incredibly friendly and helpful. She took my information... didn't require I be by the car... and said the driver would call when he was outside. About forty-five minutes later I get a call from David... easily one of the nicest guys I've met. He had to flip a bitch on the highway and, while facing oncoming traffic, loaded my car up. He then had to do ANOTHER u-turn in oncoming traffic. Their drivers obviously aren't afraid of iffy situations despite Mason's one lone Yelp review that sounds more like a personal beef than a review of the company. David put my car exactly where I wanted it, took my payment info, recommended a great mechanic and said to mention his name for a good deal. Even offered to cut me a break if I needed to have it towed there. Very friendly, very professional, 10/10 service. If I ever need another tow in Athens I have no reason to call anyone else. If you do call, I highly recommend requesting David if he's available. Also, if you look at my reviews you'll see just how rarely I leave five stars. That should say something. read more

The service I recieved tonight from Barrett's was great! They came out late at night (and much quicker than promised). They were unbeatably priced, especially for the awesome service I received. Their driver was very professional and gave great advice on getting my car repaired. I have used other companies in the past but will be using Barrett's from now on and have saved them in my phone. I was so happy with Barrett's Towing! My car had been sitting for some time while the muffler needed to be replaced, and the Barrett's Towing person came promptly within the estimated time frame (not long at all,) and he also pumped the gas pedals for some minutes to get the car started. This company is working with an Apartment Complex in Athens which does not use proper signage to alert guests that they will be towed. The only sign was paper on the office door stating that they were towing on G-Day. Nothing whatsoever anywhere near the visitor parking spaces. A day of fun at the game with my kid who lives at the complex and pays high rent for a run down place was turned into a long drive out to the impound lot and a $200 charge, because these two businesses are in cahoots to take advantage of guests. Athens is a very inhospitable place. Stay away. read more
