I didn't realize this place was a chain and I met someone coming from Iowa City that was visiting Davenport. Since then. I've seen it's a chain, but the food was pretty darn good and even though it's the same price as as the yard house and reminded me very similar of high-end processed gourmet bar food with Gastropub vibes and prices. read more

Walked in and there were zero employees present. It's hot outside, but it had to be about 80 degrees in there. No sound in tvs and no music. You could hear a pin drop. What an awesome experience. I waited several minutes at the bar. No bartender in sight. I turned around and there were no wait staff to be spoken of. I left. I went to the Barrel House with some friends. It took a few minutes before we saw any employee. Once seated, we had a good server. She was kind and that day was her 4th day, so understandably, she didn't know about the menu and substitutions and such but she quickly found out. She frequently checked back on our table. Food was prepared and served hot. Everyone said their meal was tasty. The prices are average. Decor is average but a big plus was the cleanliness. Not a bad spot. Parking was easy and getting a table at the bar was easy as well. We sat at the bar and just had a few beverages. The place is a bit more modern than what you typically find in the area. Upbeat and bright. The food looked very good. We already had dinner so just had the beverages. As far as eye candy, yes it was more hit than miss at least in the bar area on this particular Saturday evening. So I do recommend and would visit again. read more

The last two times we have tried to eat here have been awful! Last time, we waited an hour for our food. Tonight we waited a hour 20 (the restaurant was wayyy less than 1/2 full) from the time we ordered before we cut our losses, paid for our drinks and left. The staff was rude, although our server was nice, the two times he came to check on us he told us it was almost ready and we sat for another 25 mins before we decided to leave. When I went, there were only about 4 or 5 people in the whole restaurant and I sat at the bar. The bartender was new, but the other bartender that was there was helping but they were all having a side conversation the whole time I was sitting there and I didn't get served on as much as I should have. The food was okay. The salmon wasn't over cooked but it was close. The ambiance was a sports bar but it wasn't anything special. The whole experience was just okay. Best lunch (Chicken Salad sandwich) ever! Whenever there's chicken salad sandwich on the menu, I always go for it in search of the best one out there. This may very well be it. I've had many and of all the ones I've had, this truly is simply the best. Should I find another one better, I will gladly review and post. Until then, this is it. The creaminess of the dressing is well made. The chicken chunks, perfectly sized. The nuts mixed in -- walnuts I think -- just the right amount. The bread is toasted perfectly. Everything about this sandwich is perfectly done. If only I lived close enough... And yes, the other important thing, the price for the lunch combo -- half sandwich, soup or salad, and another side -- is as perfect as everything else. Superb! read more

We visited The Barrel House today for lunch. It has always been one of our favorite spots, but things have really gone downhill. Service was terrible. It took 2 hours to eat lunch. An hour and a half after ordering, we finally got our food. Our server was nowhere to be found most of the time. Never once apologized for the wait or even addressed it, which tells me it is a normal occurrence.Tables around us were frustrated as well. The food wasn't bad. Everyone enjoyed their food. My salad was wrong, but i did not have another 2 hours to send it back and wait. It ended up being okay. The food isnt the issue, its poor service and long wait times. If you have an entire afternoon to dedicate to lunch, this is the place for you. I don't think we will be back. read more

The Barrel House was an after party location for the local roller derby league in the Quad Cities. Good first impressions as it looks a clean and typical sports bar with plenty of tables, high and low top. We were in a corner since we had a bigger group. Looking at the menu, you can get burgers, sandwiches, quesadillas, salads, and plenty of deep fried goodies. I stuck to my liquid diet that night and was impressed with their craft beer selection. They specifically had a local beer list which was nice I'm an outer towner from Wisconsin. Lucky me, I tasted some fantastic Iowa beers. The one thing that put me off was the service. A server was great with taking orders, she checked on us plenty of times. We got to a point in the night when some people were leaving and others (me) were not. Someone from my table asked for their bill and the server asked if we all wanted our bills. I said no, I was planning on staying for a while. The server still brings me a bill for the two beers that I had. As our group was getting smaller we condensed to a different table. With the same server she asks if I wanted another beer, and I did order two more. I guess I don't understand her thought process of closing on my tab and then opening another one.
