This place was poppin on Friday night! They stayed open to 3am I believe.. big TVs and pool tables etc. a pinch of a line for drinks but plenty of room to park. No smoking inside which sucked! I've only been to this bar twice and both times, I've had the time of my life. I love karaoke and love the fact this place stays open late which is how I ended up here the first time. They no longer serve food so make sure you eat before you drink here. The bartenders which are sisters have thrown me off both times because I seriously think they are twins but they are not yet look exactly the same. They remember my name despite all the millions of people surrounding the bar at any given time for drinks. I will warn you, after a certain time, the tables and chairs get taken off the floor to make room for open spacing for the influx of people that come in after other bars are closed. Karaoke is only on Saturday nights from 10:30pm-close. The karaoke DJ does take CashApp which I appreciated as I don't like carrying cash. I got to sing a few songs and listen to others sing as well. I felt like the vibe here is non-judgmental which I can appreciate! I'm surprised to see all the negative reviews prior to mine. I have had a good time each time and will return! read more

Absolutely the best late night bar in St louis! Barney's is literally my favorite late night bar for me and all of my friends. Obviously you can go there a little bit earlier in the night but this place gets crowded around 1:00 a.m. because it is a 3:00 a.m. bar. They do karaoke on Tuesday and Saturday nights. If you're looking to make sure you get to sing I would come on a Tuesday because it's a lot slower crowd. On Saturdays it might not be easy to get a song and if you show up late but if you come early you can definitely sing. The bartenders are fantastic! The drinks are very good and reasonably priced. They recently started selling really cute t-shirts so you can definitely pick one of those up and support the bar! If you are single this is a good bar that does have cute guys. This bar advertises a patio, but apparently there is a cop across the alley that complains so the patio is usually closed. Don't be misled by old adverts as there really isn't any food but pizza. There is one pool table but you usually have to play partners and when one of teams loses, one of the losers magically has the next quarters up even when there are many sets of quarters challenging the table. It's a pretty crappy system. The staff at night are not friendly so the only reason to go is it's a 3am bar and that's it. Famous Bar down the street is only a 1:30 bar, but has 2 pool tables that are way better maintained and the staff is great. And there is plenty of parking in the back. read more

I love this place, and all the bad reviews are old so I want to boost the rating. This place is super fun, especially karaoke on Saturday nights. You don't have to be a good singer, everyone is so friendly and it's just about having fun! Plus, the drinks are cheap! Best dive bar I've ever been too for sure. Exceptionally rude bartenders. A male patron became offensive with me and when I asked to stay inside until my Uber arrived, the security man said to stay next to him. One minute later, The bartender screamed at me to get out and to order my ride sooner. Ironically I did have an earlier Uber ride who left me there because it took so long to cash out ( I had to go back to get my card) . I had to go right past the offensive male patron to get out. I don't know if him bumping into me was deliberate or not. Very unsafe environment. I called the next day to discuss the situation with the bartender. Instead of listening, she insulted me and told me I was out of line instead of the creepy male patron because I jumped back when he crowded me at the door. She barely allowed me to get in a few sentences and was completely unconcerned about the situation I was in. I won't be going back Wow.. Being a new resident of St. Louis, I asked to be taken to the diviest dive bar that has ever dived, so we ended up here and it did not disappoint. When we walked in, the locals at the bar kindly scooched over and made room to accommodate more people at the bar without us prompting. The bartender was friendly and attentive. Beer selection was adequate -- they had four types of beers on drafts and a selection in bottles/cans. We quickly made friends with the other bars and sat watching the game on the big screen. I've been coming here for 14 years. Plenty of parking, awesome food, the drinks are reasonably priced and not watered down, and the staff is friendly. Where else in South City can you come and play pool, darts, foosball, watch the game, smoke in their enclosed back patio, eat the best trash wings in town, and sing karaoke on Saturday nights not to mention the 3ft connect four game? Barney has been a staple in the neighborhood for 22 years, and the owner is always the first to support the neighborhood and lend a helping hand. Cheap drinks, great bartenders, pool and darts. What's not to like?

Oh how I wish there was a zero-stars option.. extremely rude and unprofessional bartender.. the bartender was yelling at one of her regulars, making the vibe kind of awkward, then she explained that it was ok because "she f's him" then she preceded to overcharge me by $15 when I closed my tab. I guess she thought I was too drunk to notice, but 3 shots and 1 corona don't add up to $37, no matter what. I argued with her for a couple minutes but just took it as a loss. My friends told me that she being nasty towards me because boyfriend kept flirting with me.. I don't know how that's my problem, I just know I'll never go back and I hope this is a fair warning for anyone thinking about going there read more

This is definitely a dive bar. Some of the same regulars can be seen here everyday who are extremely loud and obnoxious while I've seen "outsiders" be kicked out for acting even slightly out of line. The food is decent although there isn't even a cook working oftentimes so the kitchen isn't even opened. Barney's is very dark and seems like a dungeon. Not sure how they are still in business but probably from taking advantage of their regular customers who must be in a rough spot to be hanging out here. read more

Lot of piss-poor reviews on here about Barney's. Being a South side native and growing up blocks from this bar, I feel obligated to set the record straight for those of you who are considering going here. You won't like Barney's if you do not like the following: 1) Alcoholic regulars sitting at the bar 2) Smoking 3) Dinginess It is, by all means, a dive bar, a definition to which some yuppies don't know (look it up). This is a local, low-brow, South City establishment. The drinks are cheap, the beer is ice cold, and they show all STL sporting events on a TV wall adjacent to the seating. There's a skee ball machine in the back, a section to throw darts (electronic and steel-tipped), and a decent-sized menu of bar food you'll find in most places around town -- Saint Louis-style pizza, toasted ravioli / other apps, and wings. Last call isn't until 3AM so this place doesn't get bumping until after 1. This means drink specials during the early evening hours are crazy good: $2 pitchers on Fri-Sat between 8-11AM, $1 tall boy happy hours, inexpensive buckets. The only cons from me are a fairly shallow beer selection, questionable jukebox taste from the patrons, and a bathroom that, even by South City standards, is pretty gnarly. If you're looking for a place to get drunk and have some fun without judging others, this is a good place for any night or occasion. If you have a stick up your ass and you're from the county, GTFO and drink at the 54th Street Grill in the strip mall 15 miles from your subdivision. read more

I get in touch with who I believe to be the greatest collective group of people in the St. Louis area, commonly known as The South City Hoosier. The South City Hoosier is everything I am and everything I want to be wrapped into one: A person who is as open minded, liberal, and "city" as one of a cooler upscale neighborhood, but really enjoys $2 Natty Light pitchers and appreciating a place that still allows you to smoke cigarettes and eat Jalapeno Poppers at the same time. I have yet to meet not just someone I didn't like, but someone who couldn't be my best friend, at Barney's. There is no discrimination, no intimidation, just lots of inebriation. 2.) Cheap. So cheap. $4 dollar pitchers (regularly). $3.00 Toasted Ravs. The food is nothing to write home about, it's deep fried bar food. BUT did I mention it's cheap? 3.) Skee Ball. Yep, like Chuck E. This place is a total hole in the wall bar. They have a bunch of tv's, sports decor, a pool table, reasonably priced beer and a wall of dart boards. The service is fast and friendly. It does get pretty smoky here though. I was only there long enough to finish a bucket of beer with my friends and left smelling like an ashtray. Let me set the scene for you: 10pm-ish on a Wednesday night. Me and about 15 other drunk, sweaty runners just finished up a kickass 5 mile jaunt around South City. Yep, you read that right. I'm a drinker with a running problem. Don't ask any questions. Anyway, we weren't ready to end the party, so we hit up Barney's for more drinks and some food. Barney's is a hole in the wall dive in South City. On this particular night, it was pretty dead. Well, it WAS, until we came and stank up the place. The bartenders were super nice and friendly and didn't bat an eye at our ridiculousness. They kept the drinks flowing, and the food came out pretty quickly. The food itself? Not bad! I nibbled on some mozzarella sticks and had some thin crust pizza that had bacon, jalapenos, and what I'm 99% sure was provel. And it wasn't half bad! One thing to note: if you start a tab, there's a $10 minimum that you must spend before you can close it out. Just something to keep in mind. Would I come here sober? Probably not. But on this particular night, Barney's was just what we all needed. read more

A group of us would come in 3/4 times a week, it was convenient since I work until 1:30am those nights. Just recently started having problems and noticing how poorly run the place is. A older short lady who claims she owns the bar, which she very well might- but we can never get a straight answer, told me she was "going to punch me in the f...ing face if I touched her again" when I went up to her to ask what she called out. Really? That's professional (I'm being sarcastic). Not to mention she was drunk as a skunk and could barely open her eyes, yet alone walk around yelling that it was last call. Like I said before, our group was up there regularly, spent a decent amount of money every night there and all tip well over 20% since most of us have/still do work industry jobs. The fact is that you, as the bar owner, should not be talking to customers like that, nor should you be intoxicated for more than just liability reasons. We will NOT be going back unless some major changes are made. However, Gentry & Sammie, the 2 bartenders were always awesome and are extremely good at their job, given the conditions. If they worked somewhere else we would definitely go visit them. read more

I would've given this bar a 4/5 if it wasn't for the bouncer being a complete jerk. I had a few friends visit this bar last night. We heard a lot of good things about it. The pitcher specials were fantastic, which is why this is not getting 1/5 stars. We brought about 8 people and ordered a ton of beer and had a great time, until we left. Not only did the bouncer let in about 30-40 underage kids, but he also said to my friends as we were leaving (mind you, we are adults) "hey, don't worry about coming back." - We didn't cause any commotion, we didn't do anything out of the ordinary. My friend did leave a few times to go to the gas station. Once to get tums because he has bad acid reflux, and another time because his girlfriend had an emergency. When he came back and we left, the bouncer said the above quote, and then said "This isn't a f**king office." - I think he forgot the fact that we were paying customers, had a great time, brought 8 people to the bar, and were there for 4 hours. I will never come back to this place ever again as long as that jerk of a bouncer still works there. Way to mistreat someone and jump to conclusions. Did he think we were doing drug deals or something? Is that something they are used to around there? What a joke. He also was smiling and metaphorically high fiving other people as he said it. Completely embarrassing that he said that in front of 10+ people. Get a better door guy, and make sure he treats paying customers with respect. read more

Complete and utter shithole. The lock was broken on the men's room for literally years so you had to lean against it and piss across the room just to keep the door closed. They recently got rid of the wall of TVs from 1994 and replaced them with shitty flat-screens from 2000. Their draft beer gives you diarrhea because they never clean the taps. It's truly an awful place full of the lowest scum you can possibly imagine. There are dive bars, and then are bars for people with literally no standards whatsoever. I implore you to go anywhere else. Gitto's is right up the street. It's also terrible, but infinitely better than this. Hands down the worst bar in St. Louis. read more

Really great staff, cheap drinks/insane specials, lots of barroom games, and a jukebox. Smoky as hell, so that's a drawback if you're a non-smoker (or former smoker, like me), but the real drawback is that half of their already lacking draught beer lineup is out of commission about 75% of the time. This is a bar I visit frequently as it's in my neighborhood. Good pizza, decently priced, your average "south city bar." I've gone there 3 times within the past 2 months and each time their women's restroom toilet has been broken. I'm okay with the fact that your sink is held up by a 2x4 but when your toilet doesn't flush, it's a problem!!! Especially since it wasn't jus one night, obviously this is an ongoing thing. I realized things are tough but IT'S TIME TO REMODEL YOUR BATHROOM!! After a MAN took a "number 2" in there we immediately left! Have fun cleaning that one up! read more
