A lot of it's on the pricey side, but always some original, unique finds here. The staff assured me that the doors would slide properly once the other furniture was lifted. When paying for the piece, the staff did not inform me that a 3% card processing fee applied, and I thought the extra charge was due to the delivery fee. But when the delivery service called to schedule a date, I was surprised to hear that we hadn't paid for delivery yet, and Horseman had tried to sneak the 3% fee in. Worse yet, the doors now keep falling out because the glide pegs have completely broken off -- something that Horseman could have easily fixed, or at least let us know about. I understand that vintage furniture is sold as-is but I can't shake the feeling that Horseman was trying to be clever and disingenuous with the silent credit card fee and the broken door.

Warning: DO NOT WORK WITH THIS AUCTION HOUSE. My experience raised serious concerns about…read moreprofessionalism and integrity. I had a deeply frustrating experience that calls into question how fairly their process is conducted. I expressed clear interest in a specific lot while it was actively listed, only to have it abruptly removed without explanation. When I inquired, I was told the piece had been sold outside of the auction process through a priority purchase. However, when I pressed for more clarity, the representative then backtracked and said she wasn't actually sure whether it had been sold. The shifting explanation was misleading and gave the impression that the story was being adjusted after the fact to make the situation more palatable This undermines the fundamental premise of an auction- fair and open competition. Pulling a lot midstream and moving it elsewhere, combined with inconsistent explanations, suggests a lack of transparency at best. At a minimum, I would have expected a straightforward explanation and the courtesy of being informed, especially after expressing direct interest. Instead, the experience felt opaque and dismissive. If you're considering working with this auction house, be aware that listed inventory may not actually be available for bidding- even if you've already engaged. That's not a standard I would expect from a reputable auction platform.

Working with Claire was a very pleasant experience. At our first meeting, Claire photographed EVERYTHING. When she and Amos, a principle with the company, returned a few weeks later, they had thoroughly researched the art market. Their offer for my art and furnishings was reasonable and I readily accepted. The movers came a week later and I couldn't have been more pleased with the entire process.
