As I collector I work with B&N all the time. They are a official distributer for a type of specialty stationary I collect. I usually have very good experience interacting with B&N employees across the US, and regularly have items I find in their stores that are not available manifested to locations close to me. This past week, I needed help with having an order of about $120 manifested from another store to Tampa. When I called and the manager answered the phone, I thought 'Great, they will really be able to help me!' Boy was I in for a RUDE awakening. Becky Boldizar is hands down the rudest person one can imagine who has somehow fallen into a leadership role at a pretty well reputed book and stationary retailer. Instead of allowing me to tell her what I needed, she was telling me what I had to do, and when I tried to explain to her that I had already cleared the manifest with the other location she said I had to be quiet and listen to what she was saying. Despite the fact that the other store was sending the item for me, Becky insisted I be there physically to initiate the manifest and then again to pick it up, since I couldn't pay for the items until they arrived. Moreover, and I am NOT making this up, she said THEY would have to call HER to initiate the manifest. So, it was not even that I would be going in so we would call the Texas store, I was going to go in because she felt she could exercise this level of authority over her customer. Before I realized she was just being rude, I tried to ask about other options (maybe three way the phone or something) and she said something to the effect of "that's the last I am going to say about this...." So, basically, it's my way or nothing at all. I cannot believe this individual is in a leadership position. On the other hand, the assistant manager at the Texas store sending the items was so professional and clearly liked her job (I mean working in a bookstore...c'mon that is an awesome job!!!) and understood customer service, she apologized for my traumatic experience and even offered to initiate the call, but at that point I did not want to deal with Becky Boldizar. Unbelievable!!!! If you need something, go to the Brandon location, they are much nicer. read more
