What a delightful shop! Lots of interesting, beautiful, and fun imported merchandise. While browsing with family I saw a beautiful lamp I wanted to purchase. The challenge was how to bring the lamp home to Michigan since I was only on the first leg of my trip Hauling it around was not an option. The owner, Marcus offered to ship it to my home. We arranged to have him send it when I returned from my travels. It arrived in pristine condition. I had a question about replacing the bulb. He responded quickly. I am an earring wholesaler. In June I received a request from Marcus, the owner to carry our line. He ordered a few hundred dollars of earrings on approval, with the agreement that he would return what he did not want (within 10 days) and pay for the rest. Since then, he is unreachable by phone and does not answer email. I regret doing business with Agora. read more

I just got out of the store. They have some unique cool stuff but the owner who's also the salesman is the worst I've ever dealt with. He has no patience with answering all my inquires. I wanted to make sure I get the right gift so i took my time making up my mind and after all I asked him if he could box it or wrap it up for me. He goes" we don't wrap anything here" but I could box if for you so I asked him please show me the boxes that you use and he didn't like this part where he had to walk-only 5 feet to show me the boxes. On the check out we had this argument where he said 99% of the people who buy from this store just say THANK YOU for me giving them any boxes. Agora is a fun eclectic store with tons of different stuff. This is a place that reminds me of World Market and Pier One Imports. There's another location in Downtown St. Pete so I am familiar with them. I love all the sugar skulls, and all the different items you can see from many different countries. This is a place to find some little collectables, or maybe find something for a birthday present. Check this store out because there's no easier way to describe it. read more

This place is AWESOME!!! I was so happy when I found this place. It is located in Ybor city...I usually stop by this place after shopping at IKEA. They have so many items mainly from Japan, Indonesia, India and Thailand. I have to say it is rare to see a store full of Asian home goods in FL, especially Tampa bay. They have jewerlies, lighting, furniture, insents, candles, kitchenwear, and many more! So far I have bought a lotus candle holder, a star-like paper light and a salad serving folk and spoon made of wood and ivory. Everything is priced reasonably although every other import goods stores tend to overcharge. The owner (or the manager) is a very nice gentleman, who has a puppy inside the store. If you go this place, you would get many ideas how to decorate your house in an Asian way! If you like Asian decor, please check this place out. You won't be disappointed ;) read more

This is located on the block catty-corner southwest to Centro Ybor. Their location has been here for years. Every now and then on my visits to Ybor city, I like to step foot in this store and take a look at their merchandise. It usually smells of clean burning fragrant incense in here (or it could just be the merchandise). Almost all of their products hail from Southeast Asia directly. They have a wide assortment of incense scents(and accessories) to choose from, furniture, artifacts, jewelry, etc. The store is kept very organized every time I visit. The overhead music is a relatively unique and pleasant. Every now and then, they throw worldbeat style into the mix. The prices are a bit higher due to the fact that everything is an import. However, it's worth the price if you are willing to pay for the authenticity and quality. They do have more affordable and even clearance items too. For example, simple stuff like incense and their holders, etc. There's usually a friendly shopkeeper at the checkout counter willing to answer your questions. I walked in to this place once and saw a salt shaker for $18. 18 bucks! Yea....no. Don't get me wrong, this place is nice. Very nice. I would buy everything in sight if I could, but a sister is ballin' on a budget and what is an $18 salt shaker going to do for me? I am surprised that Agora (Ybor City) doesn't already have a Yelp entry, but here goes anyway... Agora is the one of the most adorable shops I have found in Tampa. It is right on 7th in Ybor and has all kinds of knick knacks for you and your home. Bedding, candles, dinnerware, furniture, and a wide assortment of tiny Japanese erasers. You know, the usual. Everything is reasonably priced and appears to be directly imported, and the staff has been nothing but wonderful every time I've visited. I used to love this place. I went in this place yesterday and there's a sign on the lights, it says 20 bucks right over the register so I purchase two. They are those paper lamps you can get at IKEA or any Chinese store in town and I was pretty happy about it. After I purchase them then, and only then was I offered chords to go with them that usually are included. So at this point I would be humiliated to say I didn't want them and I was charged as much for the cords I was the lamps. So for two cheap paper Chinese lamps I was charged $70 except with my sweet Ybor discount because I work in Ybor it was $64 but lucky for me the gentleman threw in a little Japanese eraser at no charge lucky me. I got home I was not happy but I figured what the hell, and one of the lamps was already ripped before I took it out. So I paid over $60 for one cheap ass Japanese lamp. And I'm the neighbor, imagine if I wasn't? Besides that there's tons of cute little knickknacks and stuff you can buy here. I don't want to be a total asshole about it even though I was ripped off. If you buy anything here check the packaging and what's included because sometimes it's just not fair. And a little note to the owners of Agoura, if you're going to screw people make sure they haven't been working within a block of you for years. I used to send you a lot of business. read more

This place is great for knick-knacks with bells on them. It has an okay selection of eastern furniture and art. At times it gets a bit too beaded. These things are a bit more pricey. I was drawn in by its name "Agora" because it means the marketplace in Greek and she and I had learned all about it in World Cultures! What a cool place! While vacationing, I purchased a few items in this delightful shop and requested that one of the items be sent to my home. I was told to call the shop to get the tracking number of the shipment. I have been repeatedly trying to contact them via phone and email to no avail. I have left 3 phone messages and sent 1 email. Only once was I able to speak with someone directly and he was unable to help me. I can't give this shop a good review because of the horrible customer service. Its a nice store to walk around and enjoy the sights and smells... However i noticed that many of the products are horribly over priced. You can find some of their stuff on amazon for half the price. Plus, the man behind the counter wasnt the friendliest. He didnt seem interested in the customers walking around and just Sat behind the counter, looking totally aloof. I thought this store was cool, but the workers and owner are extremely mean to their customers. I don't understand how they run a business in Ybor where there are some of the nicest people and treat them so appallingly. I had several horrible experiences here and so did some of my friends and family and when I found out that it was the owner who was encouraging rude behavior and who was extremely rude to a lot of costumers online and in store I was completely turned off. I was so excited to go into this store and the first time I got there and one of the workers or owner was closing the store for a lunch break and said they'd be back in ten minutes so I walk around grab some pizza and an hour later it's still closed so wait to go back another day and they had candles on sale for 50% off and I grab two and the guy rings me up and said it's $17.12 and I said oh but they are half off and he said they are $8 each so I ask my gf if that's ok she was buying them for me and she asks if he could do anything better and he aggressively takes the candles and puts them back and says nothing so we walked out because he was just so nasty! I'm appalled at how nasty he was and how we didn't even say we didn't want them? Very awkward and uncomfortable it's not worth the trip. read more

Mixed feelings. Day one was the most pleasant experience. The associate was a college age gentleman. He was the most pleasant and knowledgeable retailer I've dealt with in a long time. His attitude, personality, and knowledge made me and my wife want to buy the whole store. Day two was a disaster, a total turnaround. A different gentleman. He was very, very rude. He didn't want to help us at all, but we still bought. He wrapped out packages (they were fragile) after we insisted. After wrapping the packages he SLAMMED each on the counter, picked them up and shoved them at us with a smart comment. I will NEVER enter there again unless Jeff (?) is there. This is my favorite store in Ybor! Just walking through the door makes me happy because it smells so good. (That's the $18 soap which my husband thinks is ridiculously pricy but I love so much). There is always so much to look at, the stock rotates on a regular basis. There is jewelry, housewares, lamps, finger puppets, masks, purses, bags, incense, you name it. When people ask me what I want for my birthday or Christmas I just say "Agora"! And since there are items from all over the world I used the store as a learning experience recently. I volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters and I took my little brother to the store with me. We talked about where all the items came from and where they were on the map and how they were the same as our country and how they were probably different.
