I started going there as a child in the late 1980s. The owner is a friendly, knowledgable guy who is there most of the time and the other staff are helpful, too. Like myself, he's a big history fan, and has given me several good suggestions when I've been looking for a new book. I would expect him to know a lot about books, but when I mention a title, he speaks about it like he's read it. He probably has. I've been buying books here for years. Typically I use Amazon to research titles and reviews, and then go to this store to buy it. It's rare that there isn't a copy on hand, and if not they will have it there quickly. These small bookstores are need to be supported.

The last couple times I've gotten new paints that turned out to be excellent. I like that they have 5 different brands on hand and have a plan to add another brand. Long ago I signed up for their in house rewards program and I've used it that last several times I've gone in. The selection of games is very good. My daughter loved the Squishables. There's a big room with lots of tables where games are being played. Every staff member I've ever talked to was great and always helpful.

The store is deep and keeps going too the further you explore inward. An impressive selection of topics are available. It's an old bookstore but it's got contemporary finds. I was especially pleased with their LGBTQ+ and gender studies sections-- I could read forever and never get through all the books they had! Prices seem to be reliably a hair off MSRP, which is nice considering today's economy. It can be expensive to stay educated! The employees were all quite friendly and eager to assist in helping me find what I was looking for. It's a used bookstore with more than 40,000 books; so prepare to spend at least an hour (if not an afternoon) perusing the bookshelves. It's easy to get lost in the stacks here, as there are LOTS of hallways and a labyrinth of rooms. There is a room for small gatherings, a rare book room, and an alcove to tuck away with a book. One window in the store has a bit of nostalgia as it overlooks Bob Dylan's old apartment (and is now the Loring Bar). If you love a used bookstore and a historic site, this place is worth a visit.

They will turn around and sell them for $8 or $9 each. I would rather give them away at that point. I packed them up and took them home. Won't go back there again
