It's hard to believe that this Barnes & Noble has been here for as long as it has. They have kept up well with the trends in bookstores. There's always a wide variety of books displayed in the common areas. Their recommendations in some of the sections are always spot on. We were there most recently during the post Christmas sale. Pretty cool place, they have a coffee lounge, little seatting throught the store so you'll see a lot of people sitting on the floor reading. The sports sections is small but they have a little of everything. read more

I'm really torn about B&N; much like Wal-Mart did to mom & pop shops, they drove independent booksellers out of business, which I hate. Now, however, they are playing the little guy while being pushed out by Amazon (& Wal-Mart). I really want to preserve what is left of physical book stores with employees who know & care about what they are selling. They also go out of their way to make customers feel comfortable. But the prices are way too high. I wanted to get a book as a present for my dad; Barnes - $40, Amazon - $24. And the music & movie prices are so ridiculous it is insulting. I'll continue to shop here as long as they have the clearance sections. read more

Barnes and Noble is sort of like a library, except you buy the books instead of borrowing them for free. But it's a very cozy atmosphere once you get passed the gigantic Nook Color booth right in the front of the store. But today the music was turned up ridiculously high. Am I at a nightclub or a bookstore?? Anyway, they have a humongous selection of magazines and "bargain priced books" which are usually sub-par books in the following genres: DIY, craft, history/war, kittens, coffee table books, cookbooks, and self- help. In my experience, the bargain books are usually a poor purchasing choice. Starbucks has a cafe inside if you need a drinky drink. Lots of journals and beautiful stationary as well. read more

My 11 yr old niece won a $10 gift card to here so she wanted to go and buy a book. We looked around for awhile, she found a book on the 50% off table. She took the book up to pay the snooty cashier said that'll be $20 she explained she found it on the 50% off table the cashier rudely and very loudly said we can't help it other people put books down there it'll be $20 my niece says well I'm sorry then I can I get it I only have 10 that cashier went off yelling and screaming at her made a huge scene the store manager came over I need now is in tears I am totally ticked off I told him where to put the book and we left I will never shop at that place again they are a bunch of snobs and they think their crap don't stink somebody is going to get a $10 gift certificate to this worthless place for their birthday gift because we will not step back in there! Can't really say I like this place very much. I only ever go here for notebooks (since they're decently priced and I'm a notebook junkie); but going in to buy a $10 sketchbook only to be hounded to tack on an extra $25 for a B&N membership is really a turnoff. Trying to push that on me when you can see that I only have a $20 bill in my hand isn't the best way to go about it. I do realize that places like this thrive on signups and memberships, but please don't be shocked when someone buying a low-ticket item isn't in the mood to spend double what they originally planned for. It gets even more awkward when, even after politely refusing the membership, you are then treated more like an inconvenience than anything else, and they can't hurry enough to get you out of their faces. Luckily the lady cashier that rung me up has a very memorable face and attitude; I will make sure that I avoid her like the plague the next time I shop here. This interaction actually prompted me to make a Yelp account, it left such a bad taste in my mouth. read more
