You like them big words? Yeah you do you dirty little nerds!!! The main lobby interior also really gives them "you're in a courthouse" vibe!!! However, some of the courtrooms don't have that classic feel because they've been updated. I love that dark wood and foreboding aura that old school courtrooms give off. That vibe let's you know some heavy shit goes down in here. That justice is being handed out!!! There is only street parking around the courthouse but there is a parking garage 2 blocks away from the courthouse in Regions Tower. Security can be a pain as they always make you take off your belt to go through the metal detector, even if your a freaking lawyer. Just a pain in the ass really. All in all I don't mind appearing here because it's a cool building and when you pull up you know you are about to walk into a courthouse.

There are computers that can be used for free and free wifi. There's also a couple of conference rooms that I assume can be rented out for business meetings. One of these rooms is where the locals also go to vote. There are audio books, audio cd's, DVD's, and Blu-ray ' s that can be rented also. Unfortunately, many of the movie titles are damaged and do not play correctly and no matter how many times I've told them something is damaged they just put it right back on the shelf. I really wish they would take more ownership of the movie section. If they had a book returned that was defaced with pages torn out I'd like to think they wouldn't put it back on the shelf. Maybe they would I don't know. When you have movie discs that are visibly cracked and obviously won't play why do you keep putting them back on the shelf for rent? If you care that little for your work you need to find something else to do. This location isn't the safest. There is now an armed guard presence.

It's a very stately building and is located in the middle of the downtown area. The staff was friendly and helpful. As a visitor to the area, I didn't know what type of system they had to be able to use the Internet. But they had a guest pass system that allowed me to gain access to the Internet. I was a bit bummed that the children's department was as small as it was. I was surprised that it wasn't larger. Being that this was the main library for the Shreveport system, I was surprised that the collection wasn't as up to date as you would think a main library would be. For instance, I found old tax guides on the shelf from the early 1990s. Tax laws change yearly so keeping anything more than several years old is just obsolete after a while. I was also surprised that I was unable to locate any library catalog computers. Since I was there with my dad, we decided to make the trip worthwhile beyond just checking email. We decided to see if they had any books on Clementine Hunter, the primitive artists that we learned about at the Melrose Plantation. I looked for any computers that said library catalog, but couldn't find any. So I just decided to use the Internet computers to do my search. Thankfully, I know my way around a library catalog and quickly located some biographies on Clementine. A good thing to note about this library is that they are a government depository, meaning they have a government documents collection. So, if you're researching congressional hearings or legislation, you can find information here. Also, they have a petroleum documents collection for your oil industry research.
