I have brought my cavalier and my cavachon here and I will say they do a wonderful job at a good price. I rarely find any other place that does as good of a job at this price. Haircuts always look great! Despite their talent, I'm done and I'm pretty sad about it. I'm not here to ruin them or their rating, but it's time to say something. I should have said it 3 months ago. I'm only giving three stars because of the way they treat customers. My first negative experience is when I listened to a woman in front of me get chastised for her dogs ears being infected. She explained that it is a chronic issue and she had the dog on medication, but they relentlessly lectured her. Fast forward a few years, I had brought my Cavachon in for a shave because his curly hair had been severely matted. I admit this happened faster than I could imagine and the snow didn't help. I cut out what I could and tried to brush him but it would have tortured him. I called ahead (I was really embarrassed) and explained that I was new to handling this type of coat and I had let it get out of control. For the record, my dogs are my babies and they live very luxurious and pampered lives. We are not animal abusers and this will never happen again. It was an oversight and that's it. Barking Barbers were friendly on the phone and assured me that they could help. After I took him in, they agreed a shave was the only solution and I agreed. Again they were friendly at this time (they didn't have my credit card yet). When my husband picked him up, they shoved a knotted mat in his face and lectured him about the condition of his coat in a very condescending manner. They then proceeded to charge us double without calling us or consulting us first. I would have gladly paid more if they had notified me when I dropped him off and they evaluated him. I even asked if they felt I should take him to a vet to be shaved and they said no that wasn't necessary. One month later, they publicly shamed another dog-owner on Facebook that had a similar coat issue with their golden-doodle. I was nervous to post this because I don't want to be called an animal abuser by the dog warriors out there. If he was chronically matted and this happened all the time then yes we would deserve the lecture. Overall, this is not okay and we are sad to lose a good groomer so close to our home. I hope they work on their customer service in the future. read more

I bring my very energetic dog here and they have groomed him beautifully. They bath shampoo they use makes his coat brighter and smell very pleasant for at least 5 days. I also use the moisturizer option (only $2 extra) and it's really improved the amount of dandruff my dog has. Very nice groomers too, that love all the dogs. read more

Love them. They are kind, careful, accommodating, especially as my dogs have aged into seniors. The dogs always look and smell great.

A year later I'm no longer using Barking Barbers. I used them 4 separate times for my pomeranian and though he was never mistreated, I became progressively more dissatisfied with each appointment. I'll preface by sharing that I daily brush my dog's long(ish) coat using a deep tooth brush. Yet every single appointment I would routinely get a call saying he was "matted" and would need to be cut short. I had never been told that by my previous groomer and I never saw or found any matted patches while daily deep brushing him. The final straw was my last appointment when they basically shaved him. I've given two stars because they are affordable and kind to animals but it seems they're not interested in taking the time necessary for the proper grooming of some dog breeds. read more

Not good at all!!! Shaved our Golden Retriever bald on her tummy, bottom and hind legs. I wish they would have asked more questions if they were unsure what I meant when I asked for a trim around her bottom. I most certainly did not expect to see my dog half shaved with no hind feathers left. I also didn't appreciate having to pay and give the tip based on preset percentages before I even saw my dog. If your dog just needs a bath this place is fine but I would not recommend asking for any trimming unless you want your dog shaved. read more

I don't know what happened with the person who said he would give 0 if he could, and I don't know about the transport part. All I know is that from the first time I called Barking Barbers, about a year ago, they have twisted themselves into a pretzel to accommodate my needs. they were the only groomer that gave me a close to next-day appointment at a time I needed one for TWO hairy dogs. Yesterday I needed to ask for the dogs to be done ASAP, and it was done with a smile. The dogs always look great, are wearing little scarves (a touch not everyone adds), smell good, seem happy, and I'm always pleased. And last but not least, I went in yesterday to pick them up and was presented with a little Christmas ornament for each with their names and the year hand-painted on them. I was touched to the core. It's a little farther for me to travel than some, but it's worth it, and their prices are very reasonable. You can only go by your own personal experience, and this is mine. I highly recommend Barking Barbers. read more
