The big open field was being used today by a man throwing a frisbee for his dog to catch. So much room! There is free parking here for the park and for the nearby Burkes Beach access. NOTE: I'm not sure why the Yelp Hamsters insist that this park is in Bluffton or why they have that address but according to https://hiltonheadislandsc.gov/ourisland/Parks/parksandfacdetails.cfm?FacilityID=28, it is 11 Cast Net Drive in Hilton Head Island. I think the shining part of this park is the fabulous dog park which has tons of features for your four legged friend. Don't be confused if it takes you through a new neighborhood being built. There is a play ground for toddlers (enclosed by a chain link fence) with a deck of soft, ground up tires to keep the kids safe. There are basketball courts. There is never a shortage of parking. There's even a wide open field on the side where you can play fetch with doggo. Best of all, the porta potties are BRAND NEW!!!! They are SO NICE. Honestly, I would have them in my own home. No shortage of tp, either. Will probably be the most pleasant surprise of your entire visit. Definitely a "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" amenity. I couldn't help but stand and watch how well he worked, careful footing, tiny pruning sheets, totalky enveloped in his toil. I bumped into a volunteer who told me a bit about the lake behind the main building, the picnic area, the baseball fields --- a sweetheart of a lady, and so generous with her time. I loved the tall pine trees and the pine straw bed they laid down around the picnic table area. We sat breathing in the sweetest air, observing peace -- absorbing tranquility, this is a wonderfully calming place.

I arrived at 1, and it started pouring down rain . I walked around twice; the lines were long for the local Gullah chef BJ Dennis. Serving hot catfish, whiting, and tilapia with grits.
