I went back to this place recently, after some years, for a self-service dog wash. And man, it was awful. Hair everywhere, dust so thick you can write your name in it, spider webs half a foot long hanging from the ceiling. I think my dog may have left there dirtier than she went in. Angel is awesome. Bark Williams gets busy so make sure you book your appointment in advance. I groomed my pup for a while myself. She didn't enjoy it. I thought it would be a good bonding experience. Bark Williams and Angel gets the job done usually in about 90-120 minutes. Friendly people and they handle with care. Found them via word of mouth while walking my pup. read more

People were nice, but the place didn't seem well kept and clean. We took our 2 1.5 year old labs for the self wash service and within 3 days they both had kennel cough. I will not take my dogs again. Bark Williams was recommended to me by a friend and I'm so glad I went! My dog is a rescue and she has been terrified of the groomer, to the point where she has been shaking when we've picked her up. The groomer we went to two times prior took about 5-6 hours to finish grooming her. Bark Williams said it would take about max 2 hours and our dog was finished within an hour! They don't keep the dogs in kennels and they take wonderful care of the dogs. I was asked if my dog has any specific areas of concern or if she has any particular challenges with anything. I mentioned that she is fearful of loud noises like car engines and motorcycles, and the groomer said they would groom her in a different room that is quieter. I was floored and so appreciative that they take such great care of the pets they groom. The price was also seemingly very reasonable (especially in LA!) and I am so relieved I found a groomer that feels very reliable and takes good care of my dog. I'll definitely go back!! read more

Hopefully this is a constructive review for this shop because I think it has potential. I came here for the first time for the self-wash stations. Staff was really friendly and price is reasonable. However, the place is very dusty and unkempt. I fully understand this is a grooming place and don't expect the place to be sparkling and without dog hair, but the leashes, collars, and dog toys are covered in dust. The tub was cleaned before we used it but not thoroughly. We weren't told if the shampoo was diluted or not, after we asked we were told that to use the shampoo you have to dilute it in a bucket and then pour that over your dog which is really inefficient both for us and not cost effective for the shop. The towels we were given had holes in them and stains again I understand it's a grooming place but it's now part of the pattern. As we were leaving we saw that one of the dogs being groomed by their professional groomer was left tied at the station with the blow dryer pointing towards it while the groomer left the station. Again the staff was friendly towards us, but the function of the place doesn't seem to be cared for as you might expect for a place intended to bathe your dog. read more

Update. Received the phone call that I would be given a promised refund only to have that revoked. Received another phone call later which was transcribed into a text message via iPhone. Please take the time to read the message that the owner left Me on provided photos. Please note that my dog was just cleared by veterinarian last week and has no ear infection. I am a registered nurse and my dog is showing no signs of pain blood pus or irritation at her ears. My husband was not informed that my dog had an ear infection in this is just an excuse for their poor grooming skills. Please look at photos provided of ragged nails after grooming. Found the bad reviews hidden so be aware but I added them in the pictures for viewers ease Rip off. Not a professional Grooming facility. If you see all the great reviews are for the self wash not the grooming services. My rating is strictly for their grooming services provided. This is the second time we've taken Tica our dog to Bark Williams. The 1st time I was suspicious but I thought I would give it a second chance, which I usually do with businesses. The 1st time staff was really nice but it was just strange that they called me 30 minutes later to let me know that my 140lb dog was all done. I have a Great Dane. I don't see how they could have her groomed in 30 minutes shower, ears, anal glands, teeth brushed, and nails. But oh well I thought maybe they were just super fast. This 2nd time she was there for about an hour. I was disappointed to see that when my husband brought her home she came home with the same dirty amount of crap in her ears that she had left with. I ended up having to clean her ears myself after we paid $ 81 plus for her grooming 0lus 15% tip. I added pictures of the amount of ear junk that was within easy reach for me to clean myself. I didnt notice her teeth being any cleaner than they were before. I doubt that got done as well. Looks like she got a bath and nails trimmed. Her nails were broken and ragged on ends after. Really I think the only way to make this right is a refund this time. And we will not be back. This place is an obvious scam. read more

Brought my poodle here as my regular Santa Monica groomer is under construction. The bloke at the front desk (didn't catch his name but he was working Saturday at 10 am) was super nice and professional. He was so kind to Pookie and I felt comfortable leaving him. Surprisingly, Pookie was ready in a little over an hour. It took me quite a long time to pick him up as I thought it would be longer, they were so nice and understanding. Pookie looks gorgeous!! He was so happy and spoiled. Ariel was the groomer and did a smashing job. Highly recommend this groomers and I will definitely be back. Very fast, professional and love dogs read more

NOTE for experienced dog owners and new dog owners: If you come here, your dog will definitely smell nice and feel soft, but if you want a thorough job done, I would recommend going to another groomer with more experience. Yes, they give you fast turn-aound, but when it comes to taking care of my dogs, I care more about the quality of work and not how fast you can get the job done. I brought two of my dogs, a mini aussie and a husky malamute here on a weekday morning. The staff is friendly and flexible with scheduling. My complaint is the thoroughness and quality of the job. When they told me it only requires 1.5 hrs to wash dry and brush my dog, I was very skeptical (considering it use to take my previous groomer 3 hours), but they guaranteed that it can be done. They did completely wash, dry, and brush both dogs in 1.5 hours but the problem is the quality of the job done. When I first arrived to pick up the dogs, my husky was not completely dry, he was still moist in his chest. When I pointed it out to the groomer, he said it's "cool" not moist. When I got home and examined the dogs more closely, I noticed one my dogs still had dirt around his paws, and the other one had matted hair all over his chest area. They are not definitely not use to working with large working breeds that have double coats and require extra attention in brushing and getting out the mats. They are also not experienced with trimming, my dog's undercoat is very uneven and choppy. One the dogs also had his belly area shaved horribly uneven Finding a good dog groomer is like finding a good hairdresser, you need someone with experience and know what they are doing, and the groomers here are neither of those. Never never go here! My 2 dogs were done in ONE HOUR! While some people would think that's awesome, it's actually a signal that something is very wrong. Their hair cuts were choppy & uneven, but worst of all, my 1 1/2 year old had a huge chunk of tissue shaved out of his leg & a clipper burn on his belly. I trusted Bark Williams because the yelp reviews were strong & I was impressed with how well I was treated on the phone when I made my appointment. Maybe other groomers there are good. The guy there that day is balding with long grey hair. The cut on my dog's leg was so deep, I'm sure my poor dog screamed & bled like crazy. You can truly tell the owners and staff have pride in this business, and are there to help us owners and our pets! Granted, we typically just come for a nail grind, and each time we come our boston terrier gets less and less willing to oblige. Either way, that means I can't speak to the any of the other services they offer. I will say that I was a bit bummed at the selection of supplement options, and pricing of said options. If I could recommend anything a fish flavored omega 3 supplement that could be added to food would be a great addition, and one I would be extremely grateful for. Quite disappointed in the haircut they gave my Goldendoodle. I specifically said, several times to both the Groomer and Receptionist, to ONLY use shearing scissors and NO buzzers. They ended up using buzzers and her hair was so much shorter than I asked for. The cut looks very sloppy near her face / eyes, when I only asked them to trim. Yes she is clean, but I do not recommend them for a haircut. After I called with my complaints, they apologized but did not offer any sort of compensation back or a discount. There were a lot of issues with my nine-year-old just-adopted poodle mix, and most of the big grooming places around town were unwilling to take on the problems that included deeply matted and overgrown fur. I went here because of a recommendation from someone who's knowledge I trust, and this shop agreed to see the hound. So, they started with extra credit for taking on a dog with problems. Angel was kind and friendly, the dog seemed to like him - but the main thing is, they made the dog felt safe and he was cooperative back. Seriously the nicest people own this place! And it is a really cute boutique that is nicely located by a bunch of restaurants with outdoor seating so you can bring your dog to lunch too! I have come here a few times to wash my dog. I love their Yappy Hour which is Mon-Thurs 10a-2pm, $9.95 CASH. The service here is excellent. The first time I was helped by Deborah and this time I was helped by her nephew, Charles, who really was great. He helped me and Brody get situated in the wash area. Gave me a quick demonstration of how to dilute the stuff and we were good to go! Later, he even helped me set up the dry rack for Brody. They have a great selection of wonderful smelling products. They have an Oatmeal one, a Tick and Flea one as the main bases. Then they have the "rinse" which is the conditioner. They also have "tearless" for the face. I think they have one more option too. They also have dental wipes and ear wipes! They have a hand blower and great super soaky towels as well. Brody enjoyed his wash as much as he could I guess. They did raise their regular wash price to 18 bucks I believe but there is the yelp check in offer and also the Yappy Hour. This is a great "mom and pop" type store that has owners that really care about you and your dog. They have great resources and a decent amount of treats, collars, leashes, toys. Bark Williams is a nice DIY dog wash. I've been to better, but there are too few choices on the Westside. After I check out Dog Star in PDR, I'll have a better information for a local comparison. After a couple visits, I'm just not sold and not super excited to go back. But it's a nice option to have available. I forgot to write a review when we went a few months ago. This place is convenient to get to from Airport Dog Park where we visit often. They have a few stainless steel raised tubs with their own entry/exit gate. They have an air blower drying system and also provide hair dryers as well. They provide the standard supplies that you'll need. They also have toys, grooming supplies, food, etc. It really makes me a little claustrophobic with so much stuff crammed into the space though. Owner was very warm and friendly and offered Angus a treat. Their shampoo system is a little perplexing. They have three shampoo options including oatmeal and I think flea conditioning. I'm not sure if they do this for everyone, but they insisted on pumping out 10 squirts of the oatmeal into this small pitcher that you commonly see coffee barristas use and mixed it together for me. It wasn't nearly enough shampoo and I didn't really know how to use it. Because they dispensed and mixed it for me, I didn't feel as though I was welcome to go get some more. That may just be a misunderstanding, so I'm not going to hold it over their head just yet. read more

We recently rescued a beautiful Maltipoo that we named Boo from the Much Love organization and was looking to take her to get her first grooming. Sonny was there to greet us when we came in and was super friendly and nice to Boo and took time to get to know her - I immediately felt comfortable leaving my dog with Bark Williams. I was told it would take 1.5 hrs for a hair cut, nails, glands, and bath. I didn't know this but apparently she was very matted (we loved her when we got her nonetheless regardless of how she looked). In any case, she needed to be shaved down or dematted. We wanted to keep her coat clean and slightly longer and not shaved down so I asked Sonny to perform the dematting and try to keep her coat long if possible. She informed me that she will try but sometimes dogs do not like it and will move too much making it too difficult or their coat might be way too matted to get dematting. In any case, she assured me that she will try her best. I got a call 15 minutes before they were finished to let me know I could come pick up Boo. They called me to let me know My first reaction when I got there was that I got a brand new dog! I couldn't even recognize the dog we adopted two days earlier! She was brand spanking new and sparkly. Needless to say I was overjoyed and her nails, cut, and everything was perfect. And I can tell Boo loved her experience because she came back to say bye to Sonny before we left the store. My experience was nothing short of perfect and I'm glad to say that we will be coming back for years to come. Bark Williams' staff and groomer (Sonny) is amazing. I've been taking my dogs here for a few years and it's pretty great. They provide everything -- shampoo, conditioner, brushes, teeth and ear wipes, towels, and a cool air blowdryer -- and they clean up after the bath. My Lab sheds tons of hair and it used to take a long time to clean it up out of my bathtub when I washed her at home. I bring my own shampoo and use their no-tears formula for my dogs' faces, along with the wipes and the blowdryer. My Lab has arthritis and is able to get into and out of the washing area by walking up the ramp. My other dog, Nicky, doesn't like the blowdryer so I dry him using the towels provided. He has long hair and brushing him and then using the conditioner makes his coat shiny and untangled. Nicky was recently lost for 24 days outside alone and when I took him here for a bath after I found him smelly and emaciated, Deborah and the young man who works there were both concerned and helpful. After his bath he seemed happy to be clean again and looked more like his old pretty boy self. read more

First, shall I just thank CBS that they got me to know about this place? its GREAT. Second, the gentleman in the front was supeeer friendly and he helped me through out the process since it was my first time to do the self wash. I was looking for a groomer around the Santa Monica area because I was taking my dog, Kobe, to a park near there and he was in desperate need of a trim. He's 4 months old and this was going to be his first grooming. I couldn't take him in same day (as I had expected) so I made an appointment for the following weekend (today). I was very pleased with the man who helped me set up an appointment and figure out what it was I wanted for Kobe. Upon taking him, the staff that greeted me was very friendly and walked me through everything they would be doing. I pointed out that Kobe has fleas the last time I gave him a bath and they said they would look out for them and give him a flea bath if need be. I left feeling very comfortable that my dog was in good hands. I came back 2 hours later and they were finishing up with Kobe. He looked good and didn't seem to be in any sort of distress, which was great considering this was his first time getting trimmed and everything. They informed me that he unfortunately had fleas and ticks and that they tried to care of it, but that I should consider taking him to the vet to be on the safe side (ticks=lime disease). With their help, I bought a few things to help Kobe and got my questions answered. Everybody was really friendly and helpful. I'm sure that I will be returning :) the grooming itself was $55 so I thought that was reasonable. It included the trim, ear cleaning, nail clipping, black and white bath (made his white fur whiter and dark fur darker), as well as the flea bath (or the flea bath might have been more, I'm not sure). Point is, I was satisfied. His fur came out a little choppy but I'm assuming he didn't really sit still so I'm not complaining. read more

We asked them to pamper her since she is 100 in dog years. They delivered! I got a 3-for-1 coupon from Groupon.com the other day (please take a moment to check out this cool website, which has a really great and different coupon every day : http://www.groupon.com/los-angeles/), so I went in yesterday to redeem the first wash. I walked in, and both the lady at the desk, and the guy running the tubs were very friendly. I only had to wait a few mins for the guy to clean up the tub, but since it's near a neighborhood, the hubs walked our dog around, so we didn't have to wait in the tiny shop. The guy showed us how to use everything, and even got the water temp right and our shampoo all ready for us. If you've ever tried to give a 70 lb dog a bath in a regular bath tub, you know it's no easy (or, ironically, clean) task. Well this was the easiest, cleanest way I've ever bathed my dog. They not only provide the soap, but they also give you an apron (very necessary), towels, ear and teeth wipes, and have a Zoom Groom brush for you to use. But the BEST part is that they do ALL the clean up. You get to leave all your nasty wet dog hair and wet-dog-smell towels there. All you have to take with you is your soft, clean, sweet smelling pup. I'm definitely looking forward to redeeming my other 2 coupons here, and would highly recommend it for people with large dogs. Tip: If your dog has an insane amount of energy, and you're worried he/she might flip out once he/she gets to the tub, there's a great dog park just a few miles away (Joslyn Park: http://www.yelp.com/biz/joslyn-park-santa-monica) to get out some of that craziness. By far the best self-serve dog spa in Los Angeles. Things I like: 1. The wash area is very clean. There is a ramp that allows my pooch to walk right up into the spa and then you can lift it up out of the way for easy movement. 2. The water pressure is great! 3. Deborah provides shampoo which is wonderful. I used to bring my own shampoo and towels but her stuff is great. 4. Prices are reasonable. For what you get I feel that it is a fair price. 5. Customer service is awesome. I've been going there for a year now and consistently Deborah is extremely helpful and courteous. Anywhoo I brought Timber in, my 100lb Irish Wolfhound, after a bad skunking. She gets around in the dirty bushes if ya know what I mean. Charles and his crew were very thorough. Took the time to clean her properly. Shampoo massage her. And then trim her nice and proper. Shaving her all round but leaving the hair on her face just how she likes. I recommend them 100%.
