She repeated two times and stared at the one sheet document that it says he does not have it. I asked if I could see the document and she showed me, i immediately pointed to next rabies due 2028. It was very concerning. I Reported back to same place for my for my other dogs surgery. They weighed him and the surg tech came out and said we need a reweigh, 10 pounds difference ( good surgery tech) Sure enough the same tech that could not read a chart 3 days prior wrote the weight down wrong -10 lbs. So two dogs two mistakes same day. One would have gotten another rabies vaccination and the other potential meds/anesthesia issues. Furthermore they take dogs back for vaccinations. Do them in front of parents, these are our kids. First of all I want the vet to give vaccination and not in back room. Should not have gone here. It did not get better, post surgery i had issues. Called in the am, front desk said send picture, i did. She said she would share it with vet. 5 hrs later i had to call. She said oh yeah he said, .... why didn't someone call. There was more, it got worse not better. Just disappointed. To me too many staff members. Too many errors.

I realize this is a long review and I want to be thorough, but I'll try to be as concise as…read morepractically possible! To start, note that my dog Cody and I have had to move around a lot over the past 6 months which has been really hard on the both of us. Thanks to SAH during our months in Gainesville, Cody had possibly the best care that he has had over his entire travels across the country. More importantly, Dr. Nipper was the first vet that we both have seen over the past 6 months that actually thought about how our specific situation was causing us both anxiety, so she carefully considered a plan to both reduce Cody's stress and allow me to maintain his trust so training wasn't so unpredictable and prone to backsliding. Instead of prescribing heavy tranquilizers (a common recommendation that I was repeatedly told at vets before going to SAH.) she gave me some good advice and prescribed doggie Prozac, which -after a month- really helped his anxiety without changing his behavior like Trazadone does. I was able to keep up the general approach of positive reinforcement without worrying that he will become a nervous wreck. Dr. Nipper took the time to consider Cody's specific situation, especially his history of changing houses every couple of months. Other vets never even considered this. Another part was she addressed his allergies, a diagnosis she made after asking questions about whether he scratching all the time, something common for dogs not used to Florida. Other Florida vets didn't even bring this up and now that he's not scratching all the time he's just a happier dog. Finally, I want to also point out that it wasn't just Dr. Nipper that made suburban a great animal Hospital. There's staff is terrific and very careful to make sure that he got what is needed and that there weren't any changes to his health before doing anything. It's just good to know that they are careful, especially when I realize that a lot of offices don't pay that kind of attention. TL;DR: I would recommend both Dr. Nipper and the staff at Suburban Animal Hospital to anyone who wants the best for their animal companions. I have seen lots of examples of less than stellar offices in just a few months prior, and SAH is the best care he's gotten since he was a teensy pup back in San Francisco. And while we sadly are leaving town once again, at least I now know how to make sure he gets good care, especially after seeing what I thought was typical care that I realized I shouldn't have to settle for. It's not like Suburban Animal Hospital is expensive or anything. If anything I've experienced that how much you pay for the same service has nothing to do with that quality of service. And while leaving them behind is a bummer, I am happy that Cody's health benefited so much from both the care he received there as well as me being much better informed than I was before I in that office. And if anyone from SAH is reading this, thanks so much for providing such a positive experience and results for both Cody and I! Bless you all and I hope our paths cross again down the road!

For some months now, he's been working with us intermittently, one on one, as a personal dog-trainer / owner-coach for our lovable, 3 year old, female corgi mix. Otherwise super personal and well-behaved, our dog's major training issue has been extreme, dog-to-dog reactivity-aggression. Being a rescued animal originally found abandoned in the swamps of Suwannee, we quickly recognized her explosive reactivity was something akin to severe PTSD. But after over a year of spending thousands with various other trainers with whom she attended multiple board-&-train sessions and regular group classes, we saw no real practical improvement. Even John, in our first session, agreed our dog was among the most dog-reactive he'd ever encountered. However he was one of very few to really concur that her reactivity was likely a PTSD-like legacy of some early, underlying trauma needing to be addressed. So after only a few sessions working with John, we were encouraged to modify our own approach and try new techniques that soon started making a real difference. Now, at long last, we are able to take her to the dog park where she will interact and play appropriately with other dogs, with only a very briefly reactive, initial response. Our confidence is high that as we (dog & owners) continue receiving John's training-coaching, she will eventually be ready for her "good canine citizen" test. John is an excellent, special trainer because he's strong on positive reinforcement methods, really listens to his clients, offers practical techniques and tailors his coaching/training to clients' issues, needs and styles rather than simply taking a "do this-- it's what works for us--" approach. I had taken in an abandoned dog, a pitbull mix, who was young but adult size and 56 pounds. He was not fixed so had scheduled him for neutering, but it would take some time. It was fine, I could not spend time with him because he was attracted to my leg, to take him out in the backyard was off could do. He was well behaved. However, the backyard neighbors have been away with their dogs in the head come back on a Saturday. Starting Saturday night, after being in the backyard when the other dogs were backyard, he started really hyper. And Sunday he just won't be berserk, he somehow got out of a closed door room, he had scratched the door had put a hole in the wall. He chased after my cats, and he was going on the tables and I just couldn't control him. I called different places, thinking I had to get rid of them right away for my cats. It was a Sunday night so I had no luck. Until I called North Florida K9 Behavior Center and luckily, he answered the phone. He was a godsend. He calmed me down because I was hysterical. Gave me great information about neutering and what to expect after you neuters. He also gave me a lot of great psychological canine behavior, tips and information explain so much he helped me get a plan together, which I was too hysterical otherwise to have done without him. It set a plan to put Teddy in the garage with the cage, and to keep him away from the cats, meaning I would take him directly from the garage, the backyard and not to the house. he called me down enough to realize that the neutering process would help a lot, and that it was OK to keep him in the garage for now for his safety safety of my cats and my sanity. I literally don't know what I would have done without him. Teddy is still waiting neutering so after Teddy has that procedure, and finishes his vaccine boosters, our plan to call him again. You can't go wrong with a person who's so understanding, so calm, know so much about any more behavior and psychology, someone who takes the time out of their off time to help deal with a hysterical person, which she did not have to do. I highly recommend his services.
