DON'T RENT THERE!!!Bargain car rental company. Plate L24FP. Booking #U-HBA-1598051. I had a flat tire at 19.00 on 27may2025 and the track to pick up the car came only in more than 2 hours. Their office hours are until 18 so they don't provide any assistance and they didn't replaced my car. Instead of going to the north i had to go back to Hobart and cancel my hotel and take a hotel near the airport so it was 1more hour of driving. Terrible service!! I had to pay for an expensive hotel and wait for 2 hours on the road plus 1hour traveling back to Hobart instead of continuing to the north. On 28 may i came back to the airport to take another car but they said that they cant provide a full coverage car according to thir rules. i never take cars without full covarage. I claimed to privide me with the reimbursement for the days i didn't use and for time i have lost. It would be nice to have a report of the car condition as i noticed that the car was not stable and acting strange at the begging. Today ils 27 jun 25 and i still didn't get any reply no reimbursement. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER. Booked a car through their Brisbane Office, car was nice and had a couple of stone chips on the paint work, and was nice and clean when collected. After 10 days of hire - very competitive price we returned the vehicle - no damage whatsoever. After returning overseas, we started getting bills for 1. $500.00 cleaning fee - no explanation, and then after many e-mails and phone calls, we were told that we had smoked in the car and this was the cleaning fee. As neither my wife or I have ever smoked or let people smoke in our presence, then they finally agreed to refund the charge. 2. Only for them to come up with another charge - chipped windscreen, as we were not local - we were unable to drive there and dispute the ridiculous accusation, and when we approached Visa for assistance, they said they couldn't help. Rented a car from them couple of weeks ago from the Hobart Airport for a week, and already on the pick up I had to change the vehicle, as it wasn't cleaned at all, and the second one wasn't even much better, but to the story... On the third day a small kangaroo crushed into the front of vehicle on the road, and it was such a small damage it made, only like one piece of the plastic material - the bar was supposed to be changed, and that's it. But Bargain charged me for 4790$ for the repair!! They added so many different things to the final invoice what have to be changed, like basically 26 DIFFERENT THINGS, that has to be changed after this little kangaroo damage that broke only one piece of the under plastic bar in the front of the vehicle! + They even charged me for extra seven days, which is 402$, as they said this vehicle could not be used after the drop off for seven days, because of the repair! + They even charged me for the claim administration fee 270$!! CAN'T RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE AFTER THIS INCIDENT! If I only can I will upload the full repair invoice as well along with the actual vehicle damage, but unfortunately it's not possible in here. read more

Booked a car through discover cars quoted $593 and paid a total over $900. Spoke to customer service regarding the matter within 24 hours and said they couldn't do anything. The vehicle had a crack in the windscreen and large dents all over the vehicle and tyres with little tread left. It was dangerous to drive with no tread in rainy season. Manager of Bargain Rental Cars Cairns branch said he will follow up and he never did. I try to call and was on hold for over 20 min 2 days in a row. I'm very disappointed with Bargain Rental Cars Cairns with not honouring a booking that I had made. Being disabled with 3 young kids single father they were - Not helpful- bad cars - dishonest and misleading.. Very bad attitudes and zero customer service. read more

Had such a terrible experience dealing with the customer service of Bargain Car Rentals. It was bad enough that a couple of months ago they gave me a car which just stopped working on a busy highway, but it then took them two months to work out what the problem was and to make an offer of compensation. And this was only after I had to follow them up multiple times. What made all of this worse though is the offer of compensation was $36.76. When I asked Danika whether she thought this was a fair amount of compensation for someone who had been through the traumatising experience of having a car stop on a busy highway, being threatened with fines by the local police, and then losing our last afternoon in Hobart where we were holidaying, Dannika advised that it was a fair amount of compensation. Ultimately, if you want a reliable company for a hire car, or a company that at least compensates you for letting you down in a major way, avoid this company at all costs. Dannika, before you write your stock standard response of "oh, who could this be, please tell me your reference number" (either because you have so many people who are in this situation, or because you just don't care) the reference number is #1050483. read more

I have never encountered anything like it. We queued for an hour to get served only to be told that our car wasn't ready! The excuse was that they had over a hundred cars booked for this morning. I'll never use them again. Everything is extra and the price difference wasn't significant. read more

Avoid Renting a Car from Bargain Car Rental in Cairns!!! Avoid renting a car from BARGAIN CAR RENTAL in Cairns!!! They provide you with a faulty car that broke down somewhere, then all the rest at your extra cost to get the car move back to their depot. Then, the male staff forced taking the car key back from you and say goodbye you are no longer our customer then kick you out of the reception office. This is my experience that happened on 7th April 2022 at Cairns. Avoid please, otherwise your holiday will become a nightmare. Totally used the car for 7 hours for my 4 days booking, but they charged you for 1 full day of rent and they discontinued the contract without any compensation to you that caused by their faulty car. This company started off great to rent with. Friendly service, lovely car, great price. When I returned the car, I thought I would walk away a happy customer. Wrong. A week later this company removes $300 from my account. I contact the company by phone. I have a rather painful conversation with a staff member, who just talked over me explaining something that wasn't relevant to me. I then sent an email with screenshots of my transactions with bargain. The response was dismal. The staff member reported that the company had no transactions with my account. Which is weird because they twice took money from my account. It's weeks later and I'm still chasing them for money. I've rented cars from every state in Australia, big well known companies down to the small family owned and I've never had trouble like this before. read more

Why can't we leave a rating of ZERO? unfortunately we hit a kangaroo on our trip and was told that the $4500 excess was being removed from our account. Then unauthorised transactions starting disappearing from our account, another $2000 for towing and fees. One week later another $10,000 removed as they realised we weren't covered for animal damage! All up $17,000 for an old used BATTERED Kia Rio, that they already had insurance on, then got another full payment out of us. We believe this is fraud and will be pursuing it legally. I was attended to by Matthew he was fantastic, very friendly, experienced and a gave me all the advice I needed, he is a very good employee and an asset to the company. NOT A BARGAIN. Worst car rental experience ever. The cars are old and defective; the staff are rude and dismissive. Their scam is to try to charge you for defective car parts that are not visible when you pick up the car but fail while you are driving. This happened to me and another renter who was disputing with them about a defective muffler when I arrived. If there had been another car available in all of Hobart, I would have left then. I wish I had. They charged me $500 for rear view mirror glass that fell out because the adhesive failed. Book early with a different company or use uber. read more

have had no worse experience with any person in my life than your representative that was at Hobart Airport at 7:16am on Monday 16th of July. Firstly we did book through a third party and the booking was not processed by Bargain Car rental. In all honestly it was not their fault and not Bargain's, but the way this particular lady treated us was appalling, we were told by the hire car booth next door someone should usually be there at 7am, we told her this and she ranted about us telling her what to do, you can't tell me this and that, we are severely under staffed, you'll have to wait, she packed her stuff and stormed off. The worst thing was she called airport security on us and said we were threatening her, what absolute garbage, she couldn't deal with her work load and called security on us!!!! It is enraging to be treated like nuisances when we only made the comment that she should've been here at 7am. I probably wont receive a reply but I will not allow such behaviour to go un-noticed, people have a right to know how bad of an experience Bargain Hobart Airport. I felt so enraged, it's the first time I have had security or any public officer called upon me and my companion, people like her shouldn't be hired in the first place? We received a refund of our deposit from the third party but we lost some much time, paid for carparks unnecessarily and delayed our busy working schedule, employees should know how to deal with people and not just storm off and call security. read more
