Kasen M.

I had my first BareFit workout in January 2017 at a Yelp Elite event. I loved working out with my yelp friends, but I felt feeling pretty unimpressed with the gym. In Sept 2017, Emily H, "Queen of Yelp" (© Christopher S) planned a co-working space event at the Park, and once again partnered with BareFit for a free workout. A free workout, obviously I HAD to attend (also, Emily had Scarlett's baked goods waiting at the after party.. so calories had to be burned). I can't recall who taught the January class, but Sept was Susie. She was friendly and informative. She explained the workout, kept track of time and station rotation, checked form and offered encouragement throughout. During that workout I got to flip a 285lb tire up and down the parking lot. I loved that! Maybe it was being on T for 2 months, or just feeling really badass, but I wanted more! A week or so passed and my girlfriend suggested that we try the 3-week trial membership. It's basically $20 (to pay for the MindBody app setup) and access to as many classes as you care to attend for those 3 weeks. Rob, the owner sets you up during a personal phone call. He's really upfront that you can cancel at anytime, and explains the billing cycle. If you don't cancel at the end of your trial, you membership continues at $70 a month. Or -- if you join with another person, it's $130 a month - making it $65 a person. When I started my trial, I fully intended on cancelling after, but dammit, if I didn't fall in love with the workouts and Susie's teaching style. I struggled with the $65, but justified that: 1) The workouts keep me motivated 2) The workouts keep me in better shape 3) I pay that much for a 1 hour massage.. so this is basically 3 workouts a week, 16 workouts a month for the same cost Things I didn't expect or think about was the experience.. 1) The variety in workouts .. including the randomness of the physical challenges 2) New friends 3) Stronger - like legit, can do pull-ups and lift and climb the random things (285 tires, punching bags, the building support beams) This is truly an adventure gym. You come in and can literally climb or play on anything. The workouts are setup as Push, Pull, Whim days. Monday/Tuesday are workouts focused on your pushing muscles. Wed/Thurs are pull muscles. Fri/Sat are Whim Days -- they build a ninja warrior style obstacle course. This typically includes an overhead "high road" and floor elements - climbing on or over balancing beams, ropes, 5 foot tall tires. You rsvp for the class in advance via the MindBody app. This gives them a headcount so they can prepare the workouts and also keeps the class size small -- only 12 max. Plus, you can add your reservation to your calendar for easy remembering. I am a fan and a member. Come experience the #BareFitLife with me!

I always enjoy going to BAREfit - it's always interesting with the different workouts, and it's fun. What is not to like about that?

This is a women's fitness studio with trainers who are encouraging and supportive. There are…read moreclasses that focus on different muscles and the workouts change each month. The trainer will walk you through the exercises at the beginning of each class and then they'll turn up high energy playlists for warm ups and the workouts. There are four sections that you rotate between, each section has at least two exercises. So if you end up dreading one of the sections, you're only there for a few minutes. The trainers will take the time to help you with the exercises if you're struggling and suggest modifications to the workouts if you need them. The classes have made me much more comfortable with incorporating weights into my workouts. The only downside is that facility does not have a shower and the last classes during the week begin at 5:30 pm.

I had been a member at PF but found it quit boring! Ambition has went above and beyond in results, classes, and making you realize that you can do it! My 1st class was Upper Hirt. 4 stations...teams together supporting each other. The break down is each station has 2 special movements and or weights geared for that area of muscle and body strength. The team is in groups and each switches off to do those particular tasks. The class last for 45 minutes and let me tell you...YOU WILL WORK YOUR ASS OFF AND YOU WILL FEEL IT THEN AND THE NEXT DAYS TO COME! They also have Lower Hirt. Full Body...Etc. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Ambition Fitness! I am 53 and trying to tone and build muscle with cardio. This is WOMEN ONLY and a fun women bonding experience. You will love it and be proud of your success. Please mention my name if and when you call. Katie will Be eager to help answer any and all of your questions.

I had been wanting to work with a personal trainer and came across The Factory Gym a few weeks ago…read more After realizing that it is located in my end of town that made me take the plunge as they are not only close to my house but offer personal training as well. I called and talked to the general manager, Tarek who was so very helpful, answered all my questions and encourage me to come in a take a tour of the gym. I had no idea that the gym has been there since 1984 about as long that we have lived in the south-end, across from the post office on Allmond Ave. The space is open with free weights, machines, a training area with all kinds of equipment to perform every exercise you could ever do. The staff are very friendly, plenty of parking right out side the door, men and women's locker rooms, a breakroom, healthy food options and a small kitchen. There are many bodybuilders who work out in the gym but everyone has been friendly and helpful if I have questions. Tarek hooked me up with Kayla, one of the trainers. You have to be a member of the gym to train there but they take Silver Sneakers so that is cool. I paid the gym directly for my training sessions and they cut you a deal if you pay for 8 sessions up front (one free). Kayla has been fantastic. As a body builder herself I feel confident in her workouts. She pushes me and I'm sore after our workouts but she is intent on preventing injury while building strength, mobility and balance. We had a couple of conversations prior to our first visit and she has tailored my sessions to work on my issues. I have finished 7 of my 8 sessions, going to the gym twice a week meeting with Kayla and what she wants me to focus on outside of our sessions together. She went out of town and sent me two workouts to do while she was gone. We will meet this week for our last session. I have been impressed with the facility, the staff and especially my trainer Kayla.
