Was traveling solo on business on Valentine's Day so getting any sort of reservation was going to be difficult at best. Came across this sit down gourmet burger place (focusing on all natural ingredients) just north of Frankfurt Süd S-Bahn train station. Apparently this is a high end burger chain that was started (and is mostly based) in NYC. The service was good, and the menu was nicely laid out with explanations in both German and English. I was rather hungry and wasn't planning on having dessert, I had two sides of panko coated chicken tenders (with two dipping sauces) and fried Brussels sprouts w/ (duck) bacon and shaved Parmesan. For my burger I had the Blu Moo (duck bacon, blue cheese and sautéed mushrooms on a beef patty on a whole wheat bun). For a drink I stuck with a peach iced tea (unsweetened and free refills!) All the food was great and tasty. And at the end, found that they didn't just take credit cards, but was able to use my corporate AmEx card (which is still somewhat a rarity in anything other than high end restaurants in Germany). The prices are expensive (it all ran around $52) but the sides would easily feed two, and some of it is justified by the sustainable ingredients that they use. read more

Went to Bareburger for the first time today and was very impressed. This is a really cool new addition to the Schweizer Platz and in my opinion one of the best burger restaurants in Frankfurt. The restaurant has a cool vibe. Stepping inside you see a nice bar with a good selection of mostly US microbrews, bourbons and wine. I ordered a bison burger (el matador) and some fries. The burger was really well cooked. Great quality, succulent meat with just the right balance of sauce and vegetables. The bun was also soft and was definitely one of the better buns I have had in Frankfurt. The fries had a great crunch. It is clear that the owner is passionate about quality. Staff were attentive. As soon as we sat down our waiter gave us a summary of the menu and answered any questions. She stayed attentive until we left. read more

We wanted a dinner out with the kids, walking down Schweitzerstrasse, found this lovely burger place. The menu is quite American. There are many choices of burgers, salad, shakes... etc. (see menu photos attached). It is definitely a place to visit when you are craving for an American style burger! Homemade lemonade must be really good, my five year old kiddo down the whole thing without complaining! Bathroom is downstairs, there is a changing table in one of the cubes in Damen bathroom. It's not the usual kind of changing table, but a huge heavy wood flip down table. It certainly does the job! Tip: It's probably better to sit outside to get a faster service in summer. read more

Awesome place to get a REAL burger! Everything else I've tasted up until now hasn't even compared. One downfall is fries don't automatically come with it. You can get a side though for extra. I got the standard with bacon and it was cooked more like medium instead of the medium well I ordered, but still so good. These aren't the same portion sizes as USA though, so if you're starving hungry get two burgers or at least an appetizer with it. They do take credit card and the staff speaks perfect English. May need to translate a few items on the menu. One of us got a chocolate shake which he highly recommends. I do suggest getting there within the first two hours it opens, as it gets very busy and they don't take reservations. Regardless, we'll be back for sure again and again. read more

Super duper craving for burger, fries and beer was fully satisfied at Bareburger!! After a brisk walk from the hotel, easily found BB located in a roundabout. I guess my opening statement can only be: The best burger in Frankfurt, hands down. I went with my girlfriend here for the soft opening as she has been excited about trying this place for a while. We went along knowing that they would be busy as its their soft opening so they were trying to get everything sorted out for when they do finally open properly they will be ready and everything will run smoothly. When we arrived we were told there was a bit of wait for tables but it only seemed to be about a 10 minute wait. We were sat down at our table and had the menu explained to us. I went for the bison burger with habanero mayo instead of the horseradish sauce typically offered and a homemade ice tea to drink (sadly antibiotics meant i couldn't drink one of the craft beers they had on offer)! Both the food and the drink were great and very enjoyable. My burger was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and the habanero mayo gave it a perfect kick. We also ordered a side of onion rings which was big enough to feed us both! The staff were really friendly and attentive making sure everything was good and that we enjoyed our time. They took time to explain how they had decided to open a Bareburger in Frankfurt and the training they did in New York prior to setting up the Frankfurt branch. The price is on the higher side for a burger, but you are paying for good quality, ethically sourced meat. If you go for the standard beef burger, it's pretty much on par with other places in Frankfurt price-wise, but 80x better tasting. The sides are also so big that they are worth the cost and can be split between 2 people easily. The deco on the inside was cool and inviting, really adding to the atmosphere of the whole place. I can't wait to head back here and try some more of their tasty burgers! read more

Came here again a few weeks ago and decided to try out their breaded chicken fingers. I wanted the onion rings but they were sold out of them again ugh, 2nd time. I have tried bison burger, omg, I loved the meat, and buns too, and they put some dill pickles yumm.. And french fries are the best! Interior it's pretty cool, insta friendly! Staff is great and they have a lot of patience, they have explained us whole concept, how they get the meat, where they order veggies, how they make sauces, why they have a bit higher prices, and everything makes sense. If you're looking for a good American hamburger then this is your place - I understand that this location is the first in Europe and is franchised out of New York City. The manager explained that the meat is grass fed... One of the aspects of the business that they don't play up adequately is the 'green' aspect and fair trade that supports the food that they prepare. Service: drinks took a bit to get to the table, but the quality of the food made up for the wait. Food: Standard burger and onion rings fare that fills the need of an expat - too many of the burgers that I have tried in Germany have pork added to the ground beef and this is all bison. Price: understand that you're going to end up with a €60 bill for a couple of hamburgers, onion rings, and beers. By far one of the best burger joints in FFM. Not to mention they have Buffalo chicken which I always miss from back home. The burgers themselves are AH-MAZING. The meat is great, the buns are good, overall it's delicious. The milkshakes are pretty good too, if you manage to still have space from stuffing your face. We used to live five blocks from Bareburger in NY And I am happy to report the burgers taste exactly the same. Four of us ordered med-rare burgers and they were perfect. Onion rings were outstanding, the size of the sides can easily be shared by three people. I am dying to try the peanut butter milkshake but I was just too full. My only comment is that I was so excited to see buttermilk ranch sauce/dressing on the menu and unfortunately I would say that it is more a dill yogurt sauce than ranch. But their special sauce made up for it. Will definitely be back when I need a burger fix. read more

I always go to Bareburger when I am in New York so imagine my delight that the only European one is right on my doorstep. I had read mixed reviews about it but seriously, if you don't think this is the best burger in twon you are nuts! Nice size hamburger patty cooked to perfection. we had the supreme burger with onion rings/ sweet potato fries. we also had fried brussels sprouts with bacon. Amazing! Large portions- we had to get the regular (not sharing) fries/rings packed up to take home because it was just too much. Somehow we made space for the cheesecake which was also fabulous. Summary: shockingly bad and overpriced. Well, where to start. Introduction from the waiter was fairly nice but after repeatedly saying that their burgers are all medium you expect it to be so. Promises, promises. Burgers are burned, overdone and dry. Order lots of liquid if you want them to go down. And yes, burgers are tiny. If you wanna create your own burger make sure they take your order right. I was not that lucky. And yes, be ready to digest paper cause everything is served on it and it sticks to the food. Originality is one thing, stupidity other. And almost 10 euros for a few sweet potatoes and tasteless onion rings is a bit excessive. Don't remember last time i was so mad leaving a restaurant.
