Great staff. I really enjoyed the haircut and the atmosphere inside was fantastic. I highly recommend it. And by the way, the prices are very reasonable. read more

Saturday is by appointment only but they will take walk ins on a case by case basis depending on their appointments. Best to call and see if they can fit you in first. I made an appointment and had to wait 5 mins while Bobbie finished with the previous customer. The shop is very laid back with sports playing on the tv. Loved my haircut. read more

Solid cut - and I don't have to deal with a bunch of twats yipping and yelling about politics. Good place. Recommend.

Charles gave me the best cut I've had since I moved to Northern California, thank you. I was a walk-in and they had me in the chair in 10 minutes. Friendly crowd, nice atmosphere. If you need a classic, quality haircut, Charles can take of you. Found my new spot. read more

The barbers here are amazing. All three are very friendly and make you feel at home. You don't mind waiting they do an excellent job

After 4 months of lockdown, I was starting to look like a hoodlum. I waited a few days after Sonoma County opened up barber shops and salons. I decided to give Barber Shop a try. Shawn was booked with appointments because of the back log. He said that should be able to take walk-ins after the back log. I waited for one of the other 2 barbers that were taking walk-ins. Bobby did a great job. He listened to what I wanted in my hair cut. A #5 on the sides, tapered in the back and cut the top to blend in. I was super happy with the cut and will be coming in again. read more

This is hands down the best barber shop I have found in Santa Rosa. The guys are so warm and welcoming. I take my 8 year old son there for his cut every few weeks and we always receive an amazing cut, and a professional, yet warm atmosphere. It's the only place we go these days. read more

Great Barbershop. Very fond of both Sean and Bobby cutting my hair. There was a third guy (middle chair) I don't remember his name but he cuts hair well too. I don't know who is still there besides Sean since I haven't been back since the Covid thing began. I need a hair cut bad. I haven't had one since last June. I'm going tomorrow. read more

I moved to Santa Rosa eleven years ago and had to say farewell to my Central Valley barber of nearly 25 years. (135 miles is a bit too far to drive, one way, for a haircut.) After several trials and errors, I found my new barber at the Village Barber Shop where Jim (God rest his soul) served me well until his death a few years back. I wasn't "over the top" happy with Jim's other two cohorts, so I started my search again. I had a heck of a time trying to find a barber who knew how to cut a decent flat top. I went to at least six barbers, one of whom was a complete bigot (and I told him so) and I even had one hair stylist who used a level on my head! Now that was strange; it made me feel like a construction project. I then remembered that during my time at Jim's Village Barber Shop, a youngish Rock-a-billy type guy with tattoos and dark wavy hair like James Dean by the name of Shawn McConlogue, would fill in on the third chair. He seemed to do a decent job and I even had him cut my hair once when Jim was not available. So I decided to set out to find him. I found him at "The Barber Shop" on Montgomery Drive, just east of Brookwood Avenue. It's located on the triangular piece of property where Cocas Diko started their business, directly across the street from the Salvation Army's donation center and the Silvercrest Retirement highrise. I asked Shawn to give me a flat top and he proceeded to cut the best flat top I've ever had. Since that day, I haven't even once considered going to anyone else; he is now MY barber. Recently, Shawn had an opportunity to buy the shop and so he did. He has a retro-vision of what his barber shop should be and how it should look and the transition has begun, slowly yet surely. From the black and white checkered tile floors to the cream colored walls, two antique barber poles, and a few Norman Rockwell prints straight from the covers of the Saturday Evening Post on the wall, this place has great bones for becoming the barbershop of days gone by. This is not a stylistic fru-fru type of place. It's a kind of hangout where a man can go for a shave and a haircut, and while waiting, can engage in political conversation with other guys, watch television, or find guy-appropriate reading material. A shave and a haircut is no longer six bits, but $17 for a regular cut and $15 for a senior cut is a bargain in today's economy. The shave ... oh my God! The shave is as close to heaven on earth that a guy dares to go. The only down-side, if there is one, is that Shawn does not take appointments. For a busy guy like me, appointments would be nice, but his "first come, first served" approach gives me pause to sit down and relax from the hectic frenzy of my day if someone is already in the chair when I arrive. As for the barber poles, the one that stands in the corner is the one that graced the corner of Jim's Village Barber Shop, given to Jim by a group of elementary students nearly 30 years ago when Jim gave free haircuts to school children of low-income families in San Francisco. So it seems a part of Jim is still around and if he could see what Shawn is doing, I think he'd approve. read more

Barber Shop - The Barber Shop - Barbers Near Me - Santa Rosa, California

Been here a few times before. Haircuts were adequate and took a long time, but ok, no big deal. I did however get some weird vibes a couple times, but thought it was probably just my imagination. Went back today, and saw this in the front window. Now I realize it wasn't my imagination. Nope. Nope. And nope. read more

I just got the worst haircut I ever had in my life. There's a huge clump of hair on the back of my head sticking straight up and when I asked if he could maybe do something about it I was told he didn't know how. The lines on the sides of my head are completely uneven, the parts that were buzzed are lumpy and uneven and he didn't even cut the hair on the back of my neck so now there's just buzzed hair coming down to weird lumps of hair on the back of my neck. I look horrible and I feel horrible and ripped off. After 35$ I'm now stuck wearing a hat for the next month till my hair grows back and I can get it cut by someone who actually knows how to cut hair, cause I'm not sure there's a barber alive that can fix what that guy did to my head. read more

I've been living in the Santa Rosa (Aka "El Barrio De Pequeño México") for a couple of years now, and I would have to say this is the best place in the area to get a haircut. The Shop has a fun atmosphere with its drinks and accompanying television. I go with a fade and have to say consistently is everything, I get a high quality cut every single time here. I usually go thru Bobby but each barber here has the skills. Bobby is respectful, he is easy to talk to, and he cuts with elite skills. Perfect barber in my book. read more

They're a little pricey but I've never gotten a bad haircut and all of the barbers are very pleasant.

Love this place! Old school vibe with a splash of the patriotic - Marine Corps emblem, Old Glory outside. My old man would have comfortable here as opposed to some snooty salon. My hubby and sons love it. read more

Was in town from San Francisco yesterday and happened to stop in. I was lucky Charles was manning the shop on a holiday - July 4th! I got an incredible cut, Charles was extremely deliberate and professional. Was extremely lucky to have stopped in by chance. This is the spot to go. -Greg read more

Those searching for a great barber shop, first: ignore the three one-star sputtering rants. Calling the Covid-19 virus "Wu Flu" is perhaps mildly inappropriate, but "Wu" short for "Wuhan" isn't a race of people. Think "West Nile Virus" or "Ebola" (named after a nearby river). But there are folks out there that will leave no rock unturned to be offended. I've always had great haircuts from these gentleman for the last six years, and will keep going back! ps: maybe I better stop saying "Gesundheit" when someone sneezes, as the person sneezing may not be German and will get seriously triggered. Arrivederci! Oops! Sorry! I meant "See ya later!" read more

I had to bribe my son with a glow-in-the dark pen from Village Art Supply to get him over the Barber Shop's threshold this morning (he's only had buzz cuts from his dad and a trim from a friend now and then), but after a great haircut from Jerry he won't need plying again: a Michigan game and a positive testosterone infusion hooked him. He said on the way home,"I'm a barbershop guy now." Plus he has Buster Posey's haircut now. The three barbers were kind and low-key men, all tending to their customers very well (from what I could tell). I, like another reviewer, wish they took appointments because I'm used to that convenience, but I understand because 1) a schedule book/service is a pain to deal with and 2) people flake & then you're left with an open and unpaid time slot. I will go again regardless. Clean and relatively easy parking options. read more

Talked to them on the phone early and they stated they were booked for appointments but walk ins are available at 1. Came in ten minutes before 1 and somehow they were all booked up for the day. Thanks for telling me to walk in when I'm you booked out for the day. Waste of time and energy. read more

This place is great. Employees are all really cool people, and the prices are great. They also use a strait razor to touch up, which you don't see much of nowadays. Highly recommend! read more

I would give this barber shop 5 stars but I find it somewhat uncomfortable as the barber chairs face the waiting chairs, so conversations are a bit "shared" (even if you don't want them so)...also the chairs are old to fit the theme of an old time shop but are also uncomfortable...but Shawn does a great job, and it is obvious he has a "fan base", I am part of that base. read more

Bobby was my barber - he did an amazing job, simply excellent. Nice clean friendly shop, great location - I highly recommend.

Based on a friends recommendation u decided to have my first straight razor shave. It was awesome. Sean took his time and made sure it was done to perfection. It was very relaxing. I loved the conversations that seem to keep going depending of who's in the shop at any given time. I'll be back for sure. read more

Good haircuts, welcome to the '40s....oh, and incidentally it hasn't been cleaned since then...maybe a call to the health dept. is in order.

Ok I changed my mind. Anyway never mind! I never give reviews but Bobby is doing well at the barbershop and I highly recommend a haircut there. Thank you read more

These guys are all great. I've tried a few places around town and this is the only one that's been consistently good every single time. I don't go anywhere else now.. There's usually a bit of a wait, but you're going to get a good haircut out of it so it's worth it. There's a fair amount of comfortable seating for waiting and there's usually an interesting conversation going on in the shop. read more

This shop has an old fashioned feel, ran by a couple of great guys. No BS, No gimmicks, just a consistently great hair cut, at a fair price, by genuinely good guys. It's the kind of shop my grandfather took me to when I was a kid. Shawn the owner is awesome, he's not only reviving the near extinct barber shop, he's reviving the sentiment and emotions tied to that old time experience. read more

On our way to Bodega Bay, we stopped in Santa Rosa. We were getting some camping supplies and I got a haircut. My hair looked good, but not too styled, which is just the way I like it. The environment was very relaxing. It would be a good place to hang out and bring a crossword puzzle. read more

Everything was good until he shaved part of my eyebrow off. If it hadn't been for that I would of left satisfied

To me, the barber shop experience includes waiting your turn while chatting with the other customers, reading the paper and relaxing. When you make it into one of the 3 barber chairs, the barber should not only be excellent at cutting your hair, but should also be an excellent conversationalist. There should be no appointments or schedules, and no one should be yapping on their cell phone or in a rush. I find that all of this can be had at the Barber Shop. The decor is certainly "old school" and the barbers are a credit to their craft. Sean is the undisputed flat-top master. The job is finished with hot foam and a real straight razor. You won't be disappointed. read more

I've been going to this shop for years and I've only experienced the best service and genuine conversation. Love the old school barber shop aesthetic.
