Was really excited to try this place. Showed up at 850am for a 9am appointment. No one to be found. I waited until 925am and no one showed up. What's the point of a appointment if you are not there to keep it. Extremely disappointed and probably won't recommend this place to any one if they can't keep a simple appointment. Coming from Chicago, both me and my son weren't certain where we could get his hair and mine lined. After being sent off by at least two shops, I went to Yelp for recommendations. We were referred to "Barber On The Common" which happened to be a short distance from my home. I called, was given the time they opened, and was guaranteed they could fade. Although the shop is small the environment and personnel were very inviting. They listened to what we wanted and made a few recommendations along the way. Mind you in the back of my head, going to a new barber can be disastrous....believe me WE KNOW. To my surprise, my son's haircut was really great. The edges were perfect and she did a phenomenal job. My barber took his time and got my cut spot on. I highly recommend ANY ONE with ANY HAIR TEXTURE here because they really do a phenomenal job. I also appreciate them being personable. Using Google, I found this Barber Shop near me and since it was near closing time, I called on my way over. Amanda took my call and set me up with Grace as my hair stylist. Judging from the parking lot, the storefront and the general area, I was skeptical. The outside appeared run down. Upon stepping into the place, I found the shop clean and comfortable with about 3 workstations and two women. Upon meeting Grace, I found she was only a year out of school but claimed she felt fully confident that she could handle what I needed to get done. Grace was easy to talk to. As soon as she went to work, I instinctively knew that she had a handle on her craft. My haircut was meticulously and professionally done, right down to the shaving cream finale. It was seamless. I tried this place out because their prices seemed reasonable and they weren't one of these giant chain "Haircuts-R-Us" type places. I was not disappointed. Amanda took great care of me, provided me with a great haircut, trimmed my somewhat difficult to manage goatee, and gave me a nice hot-towel shave for a good price. The shop is clean, she made sure to sanitize her tools periodically during the cut, and was easy to talk to. I'm not much of a conversationalist during my cuts, but we talked about the good music she had on. It took me back to the mid-'90's. I will definitely be back. And the trim around my upper lip is perfect. Not many barbers have been able to get it the way I like it. read more
