Mary, and now Melissa (who replaced Lisa, who departed for Florida) always know exactly how to tame my mangled head of hair. I never had a "it will grow back - eventually" coif from them (unlike a few places more local to me that I went to in an emergency). The space is clean, cheery, and you're always greeted with a smile. Their base clientele is mostly Villagers, and about equally men to women. Sometimes, there's a wait, but there's a lot of magazines (some of them recent), the daily paper, and a television to help pass the time. I have grown dependent upon them to keep my hair looking great, and I will go no where else when I need a cut before I get a new book jacket photo since I don't have to worry about how it will turn out. There are no better barbers in the area.

I walk in the door and before I could even sit down one of the 3 guys cutting hair ask me if I had an appointment. Usually you just wait for the next guy to be finished and walk ins are welcome. Nope, not this place and not with any of these 3 guys. Apparently they're too good for walk ins. My husband has had his hair cut by both Nick and Nicholas in Oxford and Shelton and when I say he goes in looking homeless and comes out looking like the cover of a GQ magazine..it's no exaggeration. Their lines are clean, the cuts are affordable and great quality; they do an AMAZING job here. I normally am the one that ends up making his appointment because he's so busy at work, but I love the online appointment system - it's really easy to use and gives you a lot of options to chose from time, date, and service wise. Overall, we'd give 10 Stars to Jesse's if we could!

No appointment, I just happened to be in the area. Dino and Cat were very welcoming when I walked in, they told me to help myself to a beverage up front. Very pleased with the haircut and I felt a little pampered by the attention to detail, aftershave, and general welcoming atmosphere. And it was only $15, definitely can't beat that! I live in Hamden but I will probably make the trip for this place because it was so good. Definitely skip the chain haircutter and give this place a shot if you're in the area.
