While hairstyling salons are all the rage, there are those traditionalists like me who still prefer visiting a more skilled barber for that just right look. After all, your hairstyle says a lot about you. The Village Barber Shop in run by Becky, who is a fully licensed barber, and she will cut your hair anyway you like it. I've been to various other shops over the years, where the barber likes to cut your hair faster than a speeding bullet in a reckless manner. Becky, on the other hand, likes to take her time as she is very detail orientated. She really cares about doing a great job to your specifications. With that being said, Becky has been cutting hair for a few decades, and use to work with "Barber Bob" in Belleville for seven years, prior to starting her own business just off Main Street. The vibe in the Village Barber Shop is fantastic, with a lot of interior antiques and is very clean. It gives you a rather nostalgic and warm feeling that is missing from today's run-of-the-mill hair styling shops. One thing I should mention, is that you will need to call in for an appointment ahead of time, and bring cash or your checkbook with you, as Apple Pay and credit cards are not accepted. So if your looking for a great haircut that won't bankrupt you, and make you look like a million dollars, then by all means call the Village Barber and book your appointment today.

So, on Wednesday, March 6th, I gave Village Barber Shop a try and am very pleased with my haircut! Becky did a great job and I will become a repeat customer there! Her shop is very neat and clean. Price was reasonable and what I expected to pay. Note: Appointment only. Cash or check only, no credit or debit card. The customer before me was a woman and the customer after me was a young man so "family haircutting" is an appropriate description. The owner, Becky Mondock, has been at this location for 30+ years. Remember to always reward great service and a quality result with a generous gratuity!!

Every visit reminds me of those times. Dad and gramps would've liked it here. You need to call ahead or go online and get in the queue. Walk-ins are welcome, of course; you will be waiting. For a reasonable $30 I had the sides tapered and trimmed the top. I have a half dozen cow licks to contend with, two extremely large ones. That doesn't phase these boys. The cuts always come out looking great and the banter in the shop is typically funny and careless. The best place to try out a new joke. I've seen Kyle and now Brian. Both were very professional and both excellent stylists. My next trip to this area will be right around trim time. Good for me. 03/25

Jazzy music in the background playing. The barber closest to the window was open for a cut. He has long hair, back in a low messy bumtail. Clean cut beard. Seems cool. He let us know that a cut is $30 cash, so there's no confusion later. My husband asked for a shorter cut is all and the Barber got right to it. The Barber is very thorough and wants to make sure to give a great cut. The barber favors using the switch blade razor for trimming, it has an attachment for texturingthat's talent.
