I've been a patient for a decade and was not told the dentist retired. after arriving for an 8am Monday appt I was told there was a call out and asked to reschedule for a filling replacement today the 16th. I arrive today to be told my appt was cancelled- without reason and they can't fit me in. I moved out of Destin years ago and only came back for this reason. after driving 45 minutes they weren't able to do anything. don't bother with the disorganized chaos. read more

I've always been somewhat hesitant about seeing new dentists, mostly likely due to my childhood DDS. I imagine him as a very polite Orin Scrivello, even if my parents tell me I overreact. But my cleaning at Dr. Mizell's office was a completely painless, enjoyable experience (as much as a trip to the dentist can be, I suppose). The staff there was polite and efficient, they have more than one waiting room (BRILLIANT) and my teeth felt amazing and shexshy afterwards. I will definitely continue to see Dr. Mizell for my cleanings and the emergencies that I hope will never happen. read more

Dr Mizell and dental technicians are very pleasant and do great work. Office staff is incompetent at best. Took months to resolve billing issues; providing every excuse of someone's fault. They cancelled my appointment without notice then claim they called. After showing call history on my phone and explaining I never received notification & just wasted $ crossing Midbay Bridge I was told maybe I need a new phone. Very frustrating dealing with front office. After over 1 year of loyalty I took my business elsewhere. read more

Rude office staff - even "Monica of Arizona," who rated this dentist 5-stars, acknowledged the discourteous receptionist. Every six months they have a new dental hygienist, which might suggest job dissatisfaction. Twice I've paid my balance in full, at time of service, only later to receive a smaller bill for the same service. The latest was for $25...nominal enough that they know you can pay it and if you challenge them, they threaten "YOU WILL BE SENT TO COLLECTIONS AND CREDIT BUREAU." Yep, they write their letters and emails in all caps, complete with poor grammar and sentence structure. Note that the letter states they are going to send ME to collections, not my account. I guess that sounds more threatening. Someone mentioned two waiting areas....that's because they always have a screaming, unkept, unruly, child in the building (not that a separate waiting area helps). The doctor accepts medicaid if that's a plus for you. read more

Told my husband they would take certain charges off the bill as they were not on the treatment plan, sent the charges to my insurance anyway and then sent the bill to us when they insurance would not pay. Been trying to months to get this taken care of and they refuse and keep giving us the run around, will not talk to us about it! Finally had enough today and the receptionist continued to hang up on me when I was telling her to send me my family charts so we could see a different dentist. Hygientist are fantastic, I will miss them greatly. Receptionist does not know the first thing about dental and is only working there as she is friends with Dr. Mizell. Dr. Mizell only seems to care about the money after dealing with this issue. read more

Very friendly!!! The best chairs ever! Get a massage to put you at ease while you get your teeth cleaning! Two waiting rooms available. They seem to be very kid friendly. Don't be put off by the receptionist, I'm sure she is very busy which might explain her roughness on the phone. All the other staff are very wonderful!! read more

This is not the dentist to take children to. We came in for a cleaning under Florida Medicare and she realized my son had a cavity. Insurance does not cover "gas" before the shot so they printed me off a $77 bill to pay the next time I came in. So, came for the filling and even after telling them about my sons gag reflex they still worked on his mouth as he gagged and them vomited lying flat on his back. Did they assist him up before he choked on his own vomit? No, I had to rush over and help my 9 yr old up before he choked. Then, Dr. Mizell proceeds to tell me that he doesn't even need a filling just sealants and who told me that he was needing fillings? I told her that it was her that told me and she is the one that sat and looked at the x-rays with me??!!!!! Then she waslked out never to be seen again by me. For adults maybe she is an okay dentist, but she and her staff have no patience or traing when it comes to working with children. I will not be back read more

I was referred to Dr. Mizell's office because she was affiliated with my insurance. I was extremely nervous, due to past experiences growing up as a child through adulthood. WOW - what a pleasant surprise! The office is very comforting, clean and interesting! The staff are extremely pleasant, knowledgeable, and constantly check to make sure that your experience is the best it can be! Dr. Mizell is professional, personable and extremely gentle while she works. I must say that my visits, both for cleanings and to have work done, have been the best visits to the dentist I've ever had in my entire life - and I'll continue to go to Dr. Mizell for all my dental needs. read more

I have been a patient at Dr.Mizell s since October of 2011 and never seen her. From the first visit, for a simple cleaning and exam, I have been rescheduled and cancelled on 6 times. When I finally had my exam, a different dentist did it and I wasn t even aware until it was over that it wasn t even Dr.Mizell. I was referred to another Dr who comes to their office only a few times a month, Dr.Ngyuen, for some pretty extensive work. He cancelled on me twice and just didn t show up at all the third time that I had taken a week of antibiotics for prior to the work being done and also taken a week off of work to recover. The receptionist literally said, He may not even know he has patients today. I ll try to call him. How reassuring. To top it off, they lost my x-rays and gave me another patients info when I was trying to go to another dental office. My quote for the work being done at this office, with dental insurace, was $2,900. I had it done for $296 at another amazing dental office. I only came to this office because I got new dental insurance through work but I will pay out of pocket without my insurance from now on as long as I never have to step foot in this ridiculous excuse for a business again read more

We were able to get an appointment within a week because of a painful tooth my daughter had. When we arrived, the office is actually a remodeled home. Limited parking was available. We were briefly greeted and handed paperwork when we entered. The waiting room had limited seating. We were called back in less than 10 minutes. Our visit took approximately one hour for cleaning and x-ray. We were under the impression that my 7 year-old daughter would have the work done for a filling/crown, but she was referred to a pediatric dentist for sedation, because she is anxious (but not resistant/combative). The hygienist we worked with was very attentive and friendly, my daughter enjoyed the visit and smiled the whole time. We only saw Dr. Mizell long enough to say she was referring us, so I really can't rate HER, but the rest of the staff was great. The office itself seems to be a work in progress-- while some parts look new, other were in need of aesthetic repair. There was also a DOG behind the reception desk, in a kennel, just FYI for anyone allergic! I am satisfied enough to Dr. Mizell's office with my children again in the future. read more
