While we stayed in Manarola, it was a short 10 min train ride from that town and we had planned to hike back to Manarola via the Via dell'Amore. Since it was an early morning we were the first customers, so they had plenty of fresh focaccia ready to eat. They have a large variety of focaccia with toppings to choose from, I picked the pesto and tomato focaccia and it was delicious! I would definitely recommend giving this shop a try for focaccia.

This little cafe is a one-man operated shop with only a few small tables as well as a narrow counter. English is not spoken or understood here so we had to point to what we wanted. Behind the counter were about 5-6 different kinds of pastries, about 2 of each. They looked old and dry so we thought they were just for display. After picking a few items, we were surprised he pulled them out from behind the counter. There was a menu on the wall for drinks. Hubby ordered a cappuccino and being that I'm pregnant, I selected a decaf option, the cappuccino decaffeinato-d'orzo-ginseng-soia. The cappuccinos were delicious and pastries were good. The strawberry croissant with cream is what I ordered for myself and it was the best of all pastries we got. The cream was so good! I believe it may be freshly made. Our 3 pastries and 2 drinks cost €6 which is about $6.50. Such a great deal!

Breakfast is included if you're staying at the hotel and the selection is wonderful, especially the desserts. There is a station with a variety of fruits and vegetables where you can make your own juice. We scheduled a cooking class with Chef Francesco and are so happy we did, it was definitely worth it. He is talented, passionate and runs a tight ship. After the cooking lesson, we toured the kitchen and saw how clean and well organized it is. All the vegetables used are organic, fish is extremely fresh, pasta is made daily in-house and every dish we had was delicious! We hope to return to Portovenere soon. I definitely recommend this restaurant over all of the Cinque Terre.

Although it is a small cafe with not many seats or tables, we were lucky enough to get one and it was very cozy and perfect for a rainy morning in Genoa.
