Amazing. At the time of this review there was very little presence on Yelp. So when our B&B owner…read morein Bourgueil recommended this place with high marks, we hesitated. This restaurant is amazing. Casual setting in a charming town but turning out high quality, bib gourmand/Michelin star quality food that you would expect in Paris. The service was delightful and friendly with my limited French speaking skills. Menu changes seasonally, and I'm almost certain it will be unexpectedly good. Great value. Great wine selection. Our two course meal was €32. Wow wow wow. If you're within 20 minutes from this place, HIGHLY recommend.

When you read the reviews and the prior accolades one expects a Michelin less than 1 star…read moreexperience. This is not what we found. This location is very isolated and it takes 31 minutes to drive to from our home in chinon. In the same time we can be in bourgeil or saumur. Both are better places to eat. When we came for the price formula lunch there were three entrees, three plat and two desserts and a fromage (goat cheese). We ordered two of the entrees and two of the plat. We ordered both desserts. First of all they spoke English and French which means they had a new serveuse. She was nice but a tad I overwhelmed and she forgot our bread and really took a long time to even take our order. Most people there buy wine by the glass but we wanted a bottle of chinon so we had to get up and look at the wines available at the far side of the restaurant. We found nice bottle at 68euros. It was a tad overpriced. But we hit it and it was excellent. As for the entrees there were three choices. A terrine which we saw being served and looked not so good and what they called the perfect egg carbonara. Three of us got that and one got the pumpkin soup with sautéed mushrooms. The soup was just ok. The egg carbonara was weird. The eggs were chilled and served with sautéed onions and a crunchy Parmesan topping. It was not perfect! It was not that nicely plated either. This restaurant prides themselves on plating and presentation. Both were just average. So the entrees were average to bad. And then the plat was three choices. An andouille sausage with strong mustard flavor which the waitress said we would either like or hate. So two of us ordered the veal shoulder chop which was excellent and just ok plated with butternut squash and a minimum dash of sauce. There were also some sautéed onions also just ok. The salmon en papillote was served in a cellophane bag fastened with a wooden clothes pin. It came as a bag of fish with turmeric veggies. They were soggy. The salmon was mi-cuit which I was perfectly tender. The problem was the plating. There was none and serving your food with clothes pins is a little ugly. So overall the food was 3. The desserts were actually 4. Both the Sicilian lemon pudding and the fondant with homemade raspberry sorbet was perfect. Delicious and the fondant had a molten center in one of the two desserts. Again the lack of consistency was a fault. The ambiance is just ok. There is no bar you can sit at. Well there could be one or two stools but this is not a bar. I did not take any pics because the food was not that photogenic. Oh the restaurant has no view of the seine. Dome reviews say you can see the seine. But not from the restaurant! On the drive there yes. Do not rush to go there.
