On a recent visit to Italy, 3 companions and I visited bar all'Isola for lunch. I had heard that they had a good Tavola Calda (hot food served cafeteria style. Wow! Great selection, very well prepared, delicious hot dishes, served up in generous portions. It's a fixed price lunch (14€ on the day I was there). After being down to your table, you simply go to the counter where the food is on display, and tell the lady behind the counter which items you'd like, as many as you'd like. She dishes up generous portions of each. I had wonderful meatballs, braised veal with peas, grilled peppers, onions, and zucchini, eggplant in tomato sauce, and sautéed spinach.
