The care, or lack thereof, received at Grace was horrendous. Incompetence was the order of the day and even Donni Dubert, the Director, agreed they didn't have adequate staff. I lived out of town and traveled frequently to Memphis while my father was there. On several occasions I brought to their attention that he had bed sores and they went weeks without treatment. For example, we found a bed sore on his heel that wasn't dressed and in direct contact with the sheets on several occasions. The facility uses a wound care specialist that the staff described as "too slow". Too slow as in never showing up. Each time I showed up my father hadn't been shaved (for days) or bathed and on several occasions had been left on the bed pan and had to yell for several minutes to get people's attention. His toenails grew very long and I was told they required a podiatrist to trim. I discussed with the Dr. and head of nursing Julie Atkeison and both said they would schedule. It never happened. I had long conversations about his care with Donni Dubert to no avail. For several days we tried to simply get a catheter replaced because the urine was cloudy and clumpy we were told there could be an infection. I found the urine bag so heavy on several occasions that it couldn't be hung. The office staff who was supposed to assist with medical forms was equally incompetent. Bottom line--do not let your loved ones be subjected to the uncaring and incompetent staff of Grace. Elderly people can go downhill quickly when they could, otherwise, recover. This place may only serve to accelerate the process of death of your loved one.

The food quality seemed to be good. When it rains, water comes in the building. This has been going on for years, I was told.. Patients had to be moved. At night, it was hard getting them to answer, or get them to give you pain medicine, or anything. I had to walk to the Nurses station, on more than one occasion. My bed was never made up. One of the lady's would leave sheets and towels. Bad service and treatment. I think this water , coming in the bldg , is a health issue. Will not go back there.

I plan on sending a complaint to ever establishment that needs to hear this. I journaled single issue I had. I felt like I was in jail. Sometimes I even thought I was in hell. I have names, dated, times, issues with the pharmacy, and problems with the entire time staff. I was there and Lakeside in 2018. I already suffer with PTSD but what happened to me there made my PTSD. Obviously since I am still traumatized. It may have been 2018 but I am still affected buy the memories and nightmares. Once I pull my notes and journal together, I will write more on another review. Wait for it. Thanks for reading. I'd love to hear all of your experiences other than the reviews out here now. Beth H. Formally Middleburg, Florida Currently Fleming Island, Florida.

If your looking for a rehab/summer getaway for tweens , then you found the right place. Bunch of little kids who had one bad evening and ended up here. If they don't agree with what your saying in group , fire alarms are immediately pulled. Just childish scenarios that distract you from what your actually there for. 3 people that I knew personally, committed suicide shortly after their stay at la Paloma. This place is toxic, I'm just here to warn that person who might be at the end of their rope, there is hope , I promise you , its just not here. Trust me.
