Melinda who at the time was at reception provided with the type of customer service that is expected in this industry, but not often enough is provided with that level of customer service. If it was not for Melinda coming in and assisting to rectify my matter, the teller (Friday May 4, 2018 between 3:00pm-4:00pm) that I had would have irritated me even more with the obvious lack of interpersonal skills she showed that day. I did not get her name as she had popped out around the corner to let me know that there is essentially nothing she can do for me. The Asian girl who was actually the teller whom I was serviced by initially had enough sense to not respond to me in a patronizing tone. Let me just say this, you know how good a company is when something goes wrong and see how the customer is treated, when it was really and truly not the doing of the customer in the first place. Again, this was my late mother's Estate affairs that I was dealing with for months, so I was at my wits end as to why I was still on a "merry-go-round" with getting closer to resolve my matter. I want to take a moment to express my extreme dissatisfaction with RBC…read more I wanted to open an unlimited account with them for their iPad promotion which ended on October the 1st. I was not aware of the end date of the promotion at the time that I called to make an appointment to speak with an advisor about opening the aforementioned account. I normally don't open accounts or give personal information over the phone and prefer to do these things in person, which I mentioned to the agent I spoke to on the phone. The day I happened to call was the 1st of October. I asked to make an appointment the next day, but there were no appointments at the branch I wanted, so I booked on Tuesday, the 2nd of October at another branch. Through no fault of the branch, the power went out while I was waiting for my meeting on the Tuesday and had to subsequently reschedule on the 4th of October. It was only on the 4th, in the meeting, that I found out the promotion had ended on the 1st. I requested to escalate the situation to make an exception. 24 hours later I was called by the branch manager and told he could not do anything but offered a complaints number which I called when I had the time. The first person I spoke to was abrupt and combative and I had to forcefully request a review of the situation. I was told I would be contacted between 48 and 72 business hours later. I was only contacted a full week later by a person named Brenda. After reviewing the initial recorded phone call I was given the flimsy excuse that the promotion could not be honored simply because I did not mention to the person on the phone that I wanted the iPad promotion. I was subsequently told that *if* the promotion comes back in the spring I could take advantage of it then. There was no apology or understanding on the part of either of the people I spoke to on this "complaints" number. Given the treatment and reticence to make a happy new client I have zero desire to EVER do business with RBC. This after having a constructive discussion with an agent at the branch I had my meeting wherein we had discussed the potential of investment accounts, savings and other things. Consider this a fair warning to anyone who potentially wants to open an account with RBC. Lastly, I want to say that my interactions with personnel at this particular branch were exemplary and my dissatisfaction lies with RBC bank as a corporation.

Overall, I've gotten great service from this branch and they've always been helpful when I come to…read morethem with questions. Unfortunately though they recently renovated the interior and simultaneously changed the functions of the branch. As a result, they currently don't have any tellers. If you want to make any transactions (withdrawals or deposits), you have to do it at the ATM. The good thing is that the CIBC further south on St-Charles (2959 St-Charles) does have tellers, and great ones too! So, if you do need any help with your transactions you don't have far to go.
