We had property in Northern Presque Isle county and we interviewed several real estate agents. There are many in the area and some are also good, but it's hard to beat the professionalism and kind-heartedness of Margie Haaxma. I thought she was going to be fake because she comes across so sweet and kind. But she is a very genuinely caring person and most importantly a very seasoned broker. She was very accurate with respect to recommendations. We have sold many properties over the last several decades and would hire Banner Realty again. Even with a quarter million in cash, these people will treat you like human filth. BEWARE!! These Realtors for Banner commit fraud and they refuse to give property details which would reduce sale price. I.e. An oil pump next to your house and you have NO rights to the royalties OR capping/removal, also water well pollutant. 1. They put the prices too high and wont budge on offering. 2. They try to trap you into a contract, knowing the house is overprice and wont sell. 3. They lie and commit fraud by inaccurate drawn property lines, refusing official assessor reports. 4. Getting legal information from them was like pulling teeth. 5. They are extremely rude when you ask them why they are committing fraud. 6. They have no interest in the customers and will turn your property into a parking lot (hidden surface rights). On and on like this, this group at "Banner realtors" is likely to be sued for fraud. Working with Banner was the absolute worst decision I made. They will lie to your face and do not value honesty or trust in any way. They tried to interfere with the inspection to hide things that were wrong with the house, nearly made us LOSE the house by not staying in contact with the title company, and refused to provide money set in escrow for the repair of the house. We nearly owed an additional $2000 in taxes when the realtor did not inform me of the paperwork needed. Thankfully, when the city contacted me, the man was very helpful and the only thing he could say was "Who was your realtor? This should have been their job." Avoid at ALL COSTS. read more

DO NOT HAVE MY EARNEST DEPOSIT MONEY BACK EVEN AFTER 12 DAYS!!!! CANNOT GET ANYONE IN THIS OFFICE TO DO THEIR JOB!!! Extremely frustrated with this real estate company. As the potential buyer of property located in, Presque Isle, I signed a purchase agreement on February 25, 2019, and used $1,000 as earnest deposit money. Unfortunately, when the property was inspected one week later on March 2, 2019, it was discovered that the hot water heater had burst, and there was substantial water damage done to the home. The inspector/builder who was there to inspect the property with us said there was at least $30,000 in damage and 2/3 of the home had been affected. However, according to the realtor, the sellers were only willing to replace the flooring and would NOT use a licensed contractor to do the work. Fear of (1) mold in the crawl space and (2) insulated walls, as well as the (3) warping of the cupboards, and possible (4) collapse of the floor under the tub/toilet, we made the decision to terminate the contract as it was obviously not in the same condition it was when I signed the contract. As a result, I signed a mutual release agreement on Monday, March 4, 2019, @ approximately 4:00 pm to back out of a deal. My realtor emailed the mutual release agreement to Banner Realty's Kathleen (the listing realtor) on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. After numerous days of trying to reach Kathleen, Kathleen finally said that her sellers would not be able to sign the document that week as they lived out of state but that she would have them execute it over the weekend (March 8-9). The irony here was that they WERE able to sign the purchase agreement within the 48 hour required window even though they lived out of state. My realtor continually contacted Kathleen throughout the weekend but did not hear back from Kathleen until Tuesday, March 12 (and she STILL did not have the mutual release form signed by the sellers...even 8 days later). Thursday, March 14, I, too, tried calling Kathleen but have not heard back from her. 11 days later and frustrated beyond belief that I cannot get MY $1,000 earnest deposit money back from my realtor until the SELLERS have signed the mutual release agreement, I called Banner Realty's broker myself this morning. Margie claimed that she had not been emailed a copy of the mutual release agreement, even though my realtor had emailed it to her prior to my call. Wasn't it was Kathleen's responsibility to get information and/or the mutual release to her broker?? Or at least tell her on March 4, that the deal was no longer going through as a result of the water damage?? Isn't it the broker's job to oversee the ongoing activity of her realtors?? Margie was not happy that I called nor that I questioned the integrity of her office's responsibility to get the mutual release agreement signed by the sellers in a TIMELY fashion. And if not hearing back from Kathleen in a timely fashion or having to wait almost two weeks to get a mutual released signed and my earnest money deposit released wasn't enough, Margie, the actual broker, was THE most unprofessional realtor I have ever met. She even had the audacity to say to me, "Don't come at me like that, sister". What type of professional says that to a client?? First, I am NOT your sister. Second, I have been extremely patient in waiting for this executed document, which apparently needs to be signed by HER client before I can get my deposit back. It has been 11 days. Does this woman not think that I have a right to be upset about that?? Does she not think I should be questioning the protocol in HER office?? I've had enough. I just moved to northern Michigan. I called Banner Realty to ask for information about the upcoming tax sale of properties in the Presque Isle Harbor Association. I talked with Robert on the phone. I understand that the real estate business is competitive especially up here in northern Michigan and that it is a difficult way to make a living. That said, Robert supposedly was conducting searches online while we were talking. He said he was going to email me lists of properties that had recently sold. I guess to use as a guideline. Well, I never got his emails. I realize now that he was being very sarcastic and rude. It would have been much better if he had simply stated "sorry I don't help people with tax sale information". BTW the email I sent to the Harbor Association asking for the same information bounced. That is why I contacted Banner Realty. I will never have any more dealings with Banner Realty. In the future I might be looking to buy a house in Alpena. Robert and his agency lost a potential long term client because of his unprofessionalism and attitude. read more
