Deep breaths + sigh of relief... did you hear that?…read more I am writing this review after having my first colonoscopy procedure yesterday... As a routine check due to my age, my general practitioner recommended I do so. I procrastinated a bit but finally scheduled it and am on the other side now. Phew! DHS was recommended to me and when I said I'd prefer a female provider, Dr. Suzanne Skoog was recommended. After scheduling, I spoke to a member of the staff about the preparation and had my questions answered about the procedure. I followed the detailed instructions and got through the prep (not fun but not as bad as I expected), and arrived at this office at my scheduled time. Thanks to my driver / husband for the ride and the company. Upon arrival, I completed the paperwork and was escorted back to a changing room by Cassie, who took vitals, went over the paperwork and procedure, and prepped me with an IV. From there, I met Dr. Skoog... She has a great bedside manner and made me feel comfortable. I then went into the procedure room and the team (Kelly, Laurie and Natalie) took great care of me. I woke up, recovered, and was given a cold water. The results were clear thank goodness, so I don't need to return for another 10 years! For anyone reading this that is curious, I belive the new guideline is that regular screening, beginning at age 45, is the key to preventing colorectal cancer and finding it early. If you have family history, it may be even earlier... If you are seeking an office to have this done, I do recommend Digestive Health Specialists. Good luck!

Unbeknownst to me but I'm on taxi duty for my bride all day…read more So far, so good!. I'm just glad I'm not the patient, Yet; I guess I'll be next!

This clinic is wonderful. The staff is kind and knowledgeable. I have never had to wait more than 15 min., and Dr. K is easy to talk to, willing to partner with us crusty old people--and he is a reassuring presence when you most need one. They have their own out patient surgical clinic and, yes, they will probably recommend that you have testing there. My experience was that the testing was the key to discovering the real problems. I did not ever feel that they were doing more than was needed in order to help me. The results pretty much support that impression. I can make social commitments and know that I will NEVER be humiliated by an uncontrollable bowel again. They gave me back my confidence, and I cannot thank them enough.

Dr Stein and the medical staff were great. The admin and their system is where things seem to break…read moredown. They changed my first name to a letter. Literally. They claim they can't list me by my actual first name, because it's abbreviated on my insurance card. My insurance knows it's abbreviated and they have my full legal name. And even if their system is that complicated, there's no preferred name option? Really? So they will refer to me as a single letter instead of my actual name. I've never run into this problem before at a medical provider office and I've been to many using the same insurance card. Imagine being taken back to have a procedure done under anesthesia and the assistant you've never met tries to greet you but doesn't know what to call you because your name is missing on your paperwork, and it's just a letter. Imagine they try to call your driver back after you're done, and they don't know what to announce. Imagine you get texts after your procedure, referring to you as a single letter instead of your first name. That's exactly what happened, and I was really surprised. It's poor customer service. It creates confusion and discomfort when you're already in a vulnerable position. I work at a medical office and I can't imagine treating a patient like that. It's such a basic standard to call people by their name. I let the office know my concern and they said they can't do anything about it. I'll go elsewhere next time.

They call to check to see how I am doing and continue to give care and tell my wife how to care for me at home. I have never received care like this ever. I will tell anyone the care I receive is the best by far from this medical group. Thanks everyone so much.

It was very quick and little discomfort. Overall experience was great with both her staff and herself. I would go back and recommend her.

I have never had a care provider be so obviously annoyed at seeing her own patients…read more I was 30 mins early for my appointment and waited over an hour to be seen. No one in the office even acknowledged it! When I got to the exam room, the doctor had asked me to pull down my pants with her watching. This was weird to me and gave me pause. Dr. McConnell was apparently annoyed at this because then she herself, grabbed the waistband of my pants and started tugging to pull them off, so hard that I almost fell off the exam table. I've never had a provider do this to me. To stay in the room and not provide a cover or gown was distressing enough but when the Dr tugged on my pants I shut down. She proceeded to tell me all about the procedure she was recommending, I asked her about how far out she was scheduling and she rolled her eyes and said, "talk to my staff." At check out I was told I would be able to schedule in the office for the procedure. I was living in extreme pain every single day and I had already waited a month for the consult. We scheduled the procedure for two weeks out, which was a really long time to wait in agony. She did not call in any medications. She did not give any directions. The day before surgery they called me and cancelled my procedure and told me I didn't meet the requirements to use their facility after all. I pleaded with the nurse about how I was living in excruciating pain and all she said was,"I don't make the rules." Dr. McConnell was cold, disrespectful, unprofessional and unwilling to provide any pain medication after surgery. Doctors and surgeons have a duty to provide pain relief after a procedure, to dismiss and belittle pain and suffering is not being a good care provider! The behavior of her staff I also found unacceptable and rude. It's easy to apologize for running behind on appointments. It's easy to have empathy when you hear a patient is in pain. I have been a veterinary nurse for 10+ years, I can't imagine being so heartless if a patient was suffering or in pain. We treat dogs better than I got treated here! I found a great surgeon that did my procedure, treated me with compassion like a human being, AND provided pain relief!!! All in 3 days after they cancelled on me last minute! What a concept!
