The casino was a nice size for people who get overwhelmed easily as the pathways are clear so it is easy to learn the layout and the noise isn't too bad so it doesn't feel intimidating in my opinion. The restaurants inside are convenient but there are not really any options for vegan/vegetarian eaters which was disappointing. I had a very unpleasant experience with a fellow player next to me being wildly inappropriate as soon as my partner went to go cash in his tickets. It involved what you might guess. He was pulling his pants (my nice way of saying what he was doing) and trying to get my attention which was terribly uncomfortable and disheartening. This isn't the fault of the casino but maybe since there are cameras everywhere they would be wise to discontinue to entertain people who do things like this. Overall, a decent place to stay for us as we live about an hour away so it is a potential staycation in the future depending on how I process the unsavory experience I had with the crappy crotch monster.

An amazing summer evening for a concert at the waterfront pavilion aka Maine Saving amphitheater…read more We were invited guest to the concert with glam rockers Vince Neil, lead singer of Ray, and the always amazing Brett Michaels. Parking was every where but our host is a season pass holder and drove to the VIP parking lot behind the venue. A short walk up a gentle incline and we were at the gates. The pavilion's web site gives clear instructions on what is and is not allowed. They checked my small bag and off we went. Tickets read the doors open at 6:30p but due to some heavy partying one band had not even done their sound check yet. They opens the gates 15 minutes later. We made our way to the way back of the theatre where the VIP section was. Showed our tickets got a bracelet and off to the VIP area where they have two full bars, 3 small fire pits with ample chairs and on the upper level couches and tables as well as bar stools to enjoy your beverage. We got our drinks and off we went to our seats. We were seated behind the orchestra section with the whole box to ourselves. We sat down for maybe 10 minutes and the show started. Ratt was OK but slow, they must have been the ones hung over, they sounds sluggish. Only knew one song they sang so glad they were not the head liner. A break for bathrooms and more beverages with some free popcorn. Then Vince Neil came on. He was good. Danced to a few of his songs from Motley Crew. The lighting and effects were great, really energized the crowd. Another intermission found it my turn for drinks. Two beers, a small box of wine, and a THC drink to the total of $58! WOW! $72 with tip ouch! The headliner was Brett Michaels. He was AMAZING! Energetic, talking to the crowd, and singing clear and strong bravo! Over all a great experience and will return when able

I was on a panel about suspense and the influence of Stephen King, and it was fun to have that event in the heart of Derry/Bangor. The theater was attractive, with a nice stage and a spacious seating area. There were some cool chandeliers that looked like crystal jellyfish. I gather that the theater is a town landmark and important cultural institution, putting on a full roster of shows when it isn't hosting one-off literary events. There was a little bar off to one side of the theater, apparently called The Stage Door. I hung out there with friends and new acquaintances before and after the panel. I got to try two cans of local beer, the Orono Tubular Hazy IPA and the Sacred Profane Dark Lager. Both were delicious beers that I never see at home. I had a lovely time at the Penobscot Theatre Company and am glad I got to visit on my first trip to Maine. I'd recommend it for all your Bangor theater needs, as well as any events about the great Stephen King.
