I normally review breweries but I have missed out on coffee shop reviews. I travel for work and hit local breweries and coffee shops when in town. I arrived in the morning and had a couple hours before my meeting so I decided to find some local coffee instead of beer. Service and flavor: Ordered at the counter then found a good spot and got my laptop going to catch up on work. Coffee was delivered with a cool cup (no plastic) and extra carafe. It was so good I ordered refills. It is so much fun to try local roasts that differ from the mainstream., My server was super nice and took care of me. God bless Texas! Ambiance: I felt so at easy there. Several others like me were working. Wasn't too loud but not a library either. I will be back in town in a couple months but will be sure to plan my trip to spend an hour or so here. read more

High quality coffee and house made pastries. The coffee is exactly what I was looking for, great quality with complex flavor. The really enjoyed the pastries. Not the best pastries I have ever had but from what I could tell they were house made and they had some unique options. I selected the savory spinach empanada and the pistachio roll and I would order both again. Bandera coffee is really top notch! As you can see from my pictures, I've been here a few times whenever I'm visiting from out of town and from the first time to the most recent a few things have changed. What hasn't changed? The quality of their drinks! Bandera continues to be consistent in delivering a wonderful experience from their friendly baristas to their quality drinks. The seating area is cozy and this most recent time they had a DJ to add some life to the vibe. The matcha latte and pour over were both fantastic and is a great place to stop by if you're heading back north out of the valley or if you're just in the area. Parking and seating are pretty fair given its size, and Bandera sets a vibe where you can work, catch up with a friend, or just simply enjoy a great cup of caffeine to elevate your day. read more

Bandera Coffee is located right before the bridge to South Padre Island, which was very convenient. We went on Easter Sunday, when it was quite rainy. I'm not sure if the barista was upset or tired, but she didn't seem thrilled we were there. We got some sort of horchata latte and an americano. The latte was delightful and tasted like the holidays. The americano was smooth, but I wasn't happy with the vanilla syrup that I added. I typically get sugar free, but I didn't see the option on the menu. There was a minimalist, rustic vibe inside the cafe, and it appeared like they had a few baked goods for sale too. I would return, but I'd order differently. read more

I come here whenever I visit Harlingen to either see friends or chill. There are just so many great things to say about this place. The people are always really nice, it hardly ever feels crowded, and the atmosphere is so cozy as well. Not to mention, their coffee, matcha, and desserts as well as their drinks are really good here. If you're thinking about trying this place, stop thinking and just try it. read more

Been here only a handful of times when I am in town. Simple modern vibe/aesthetic. I've only ever had iced vanilla lattes and they always did the job. I've heard they had other specialty or seasonal drinks but haven't had a chance to try them. I had their chocolate pumpkin scone and thought it tasted good as well as being a decent portion. I went on a Saturday morning during thanksgiving break and they didn't have a lot of pastries which I was bummed about. Service was friendly! read more

Coffee shop was very cute, super friendly staff. But what really bothered me was seeing a barista pour milk that was already in a frothing cup back into the milk gallon from which she poured it from. Not only that, but when I was handed my iced latte, my cup was super dirty and had black stuff in it which is probably coffee grounds. Coffee also tasted really Smokey/burnt. Such a cozy coffee shop!! Whenever it's a rainy day I run over here lol because they know how to set the mood. The drinks are like a hug in a mug and the quality is always excellent. They recently renovated their space and it's an even nicer vibe. The patio is cute during nice days but the wifi signal isn't the best out there, so I tend to stay inside when doing work. The baristas and the owners are really chill and friendly! They always bring your drink out to you and I love the work they put into making a beautiful drink presentation. read more

Found this cute coffee shop while visiting Harlingen. I was so impressed with their drinks! We got the Goth latte (hot) with oat milk- its a creamy, coffee latte which just tastes fantastic. Also ordered the Tropical Matcha with oat milk - it's drink with matcha with guava. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was so good! The matcha is not over powering, the guava is subtle and adds a really nice tropical flavor. They also have vegan baked items and empanadas. The crust is flaky, the filling is great, you can't even tell it doesn't have dairy. Also tried their matcha, and ube cookies - which were not too sweet, just perfect. Their pistachio roll was amazing- great flavor and not too sweet. The first experience was so good that we came back for the next 4 days in a row - all if my stay while in Harlingen. They drinks were consistently great which does imply great quality. The servers are friendly too. The ambiance is great, especially nice for working. They serve in mostly eco-friendly compostable containers for to go orders Stop by for their drinks, vegan baked items, lovely ambiance and great service. You won't be disappointed. read more

I really like the coffee. Like the interesting menu. Service is generally quick and friendly. What makes it hard to give four or five stars is the way the staff dresses. I don't want to see someone's midriff or breasts when I'm grabbing coffee. The other day I had my grandson with me and he was staring at the staff girl's see through white top with nothing under then commented to me about it. Makes for a very uncomfortable ordering experience when I can see more on the server than I'd see at a pool. read more

Recently I've been starting to frequent more locally owned coffee shops and as I was visiting Harlingen Texas I found this little gem. It's on a cute little street and I was greeted immediately upon entering which is always appreciated. The barista recommended the Tormenta which is an espresso/horchata fusion which is a such a delight. It does have dairy so be careful if you are sensitive to dairy, however it seemed pretty worth it to me. She also recommended the oatmeal pie to satisfy my sweet tooth and I am blown away at house delicious and fresh everything tastes. Ambience is also lovely, It's definitely a cafe vibe but not overly populated and somewhat quiet with some soothing music. The perfect place to enjoy a snack, a coffee and get some work done. We were visiting from Houston and like supporting local shops with good, quality coffee. Unfortunately, those are a rare find in The Valley. We were lucky to stumble upon this gem, though! A very spacious, open shop, with a low-key hipster vibe, quality standard as well as original coffee drinks. They even had a unique Ethiopian coffee that we were able to purchase for home brewing. Our crew ordered two Tormentos & a Dirty Chai & we would recommend them all!! Stop by if you're going through Harlingen or a local that likes good coffee. Amazing local coffee shop! I'm currently obsessed with their matcha latte (it's amazing), but their other drinks are also great! They serve different sweets and treats from local vendors too which is great. They have a great space for gathering and shows, which will be great to have open again in the future! You can also buy bags of some of their roasts. I also love the art they have for sale at the shop: poster prints, hard enamel pins, shirts, totes, hats, and bandanas. They have a design theme based off of lotería and everything looks so dope. All the staff seem really cool and everyone I've interacted with has been super nice. The shop is really plugged in to the local community, which is think is great and you won't find the same with the big chains/franchises.
