We arrived at Rizzo's on Dodge and New Road to find its doors closed (gasp) at the end of March. We took the advice of the sign and travelled to Banchetti's on North French Road. It seems pleasant enough inside, although the slab patio left a bit to be desired, having passed the Ale House's jam-packed and inviting patio en route. We were promptly greeted and seated (there was one other couple in the place at 7 pm on this Friday night, a foretelling?) and warm bread and pesto was placed on our table. Our friendly (albeit a bit overly so) server took our drink order and upon delivery, we placed our food order. Unfortunately for one of us, they were out of lasagna this evening. Before he left, I felt obliged to question why my glass of wine was not even half-full. He assured me, pointing, THAT was a serving and skittered off. Meanwhile, the nearby table received their wine order and yessir, a full glass indeed. I asked the server why the other diner's wine glass was full. He claimed he did not pour THAT glass. Note these were your everyday small wine glasses. Not even half filled. At $6 a pop, that would be a miserly pour. If I had a measuring cup in my purse, I would estimate the wine in my glass would have nicely filled a 1/4 measuring cup. The salads arrived, fresh and crisp (except that darned plastic-like tomato that restaurants insist on serving). Ah. The main meals came, one order of ravioli and one of spaghetti. My guest, for the FIRST time in his life, politely sent his plate back, it was inedible. He saved the "rubber pillows" comment for out of the server's earshot, but insisted the meal was obviously sitting around a while and then some hot sauce was thrown on it. Worst texture. The server apologized and returned promptly with a new plate of ravioli, and asked if he'd like peanut butter or chocolate. Pause. Cake, peanut butter or chocolate cake when dessert comes. For the inconvenience. No, but thank you. The spaghetti was also evidently in the pot next to the ravioli, hanging out a tad too long for it had that enlarged, waterlogged texture and lack of flavor (forget al dente), I mean did he not see I indeed have TEETH??? Not wanting to seem like complainers, we really are not (we are reasonable people, truly), I just couldn't bear to return my plate, too. It was reminiscent of that spaghetti in a can, Franco American? No thanks on the take-home box. Guest said at this point, he'd gladly pay just to get out of here. Round two of ravioli was better, less rubbery, but still, ah, the worst meal he'd ever had. We'd ever had. Perhaps at this point, the server realized he'd lost us, and as he laid down the check, he pointed out that he took the cost of the wine off the bill for the inconvenience. The service staff did a very good job being personable, friendly, and outgoing. The ice water was good. This restaurant experience could have been better, in so many ways. One should never leave an establishment, saying "that was awful" or "worst meal ever". read more

We used to have so many great places to go for brunch buffet. Tuscarora Inn in Lockport was amazing, but they're closed now. Templeton Landing in Buffalo did an amazing job, but they stopped. I have tried a some other places, such as Becker Farms and the Basket Factory... but none of them have hit the mark for me. This is the closest I have found in the mean time. The selection is huge. You will find your brunch staples like a carving station and waffles, but also eggs benedict. great selection of pastries and desserts as well. It's a little more expensive than I would like, but I don't think it's outrageous for hat you get. read more

St Joseph's Table was an excellent food fest. The annual feast around St Joseph's Day 3/19. Long history about a town that prayed to st joseph and were granted their wish. It is usually a meatless dinner with many pasta and fish dishes. There were a great amount of dishes prepared at this buffet style dinner. Too many dishes to mention but very well prepared and service was good considering the massive amounts of people being served. Hopefully it will continue next year. read more

Wow....just received yet another phone call from Claire and she repeated everything she said to me last week. Maybe she needs to retire, just had the same conversation last week. We have $4000 tied up with them. She acts like she is doing me a big favor offering is pizza and wings for my daughters sweet 16 party and we only have to pay$7.50 a person. What? Why would I pay when they have my $4000. Absolutely rediculous. And as I told her last week I will never step foot or eat at their businesses and I will tell everyone what crooks they are. We should have gone to IHOP! I'm so disappointed. My family and I went here for Mother's day brunch and we were all so let down by the lack of very simple things being done. Food that should have been hot or warm at best was cold. Items like maple syrup for waffles, ketchup, and dressings for the salad were left in regular degular bowls with a basic ass spoon for serving. Their whole presentation looked like we paid to eat someone's leftovers from the previous party Banchettie's had the night before. Just TRASH! For the price we paid...We should have gone to IHOP, at least then my food would have been hot and not stale. read more

The pasta was good but the chicken parm was just ok it was very greasy. I would recommend this place if you like Italian food kind of. Did the Sunday brunch and everything I ate was delicious. Well supplied buffet tables, a variety of options in addition to the usual breakfast items, and an extremely helpful, and I do mean extremely, helpful staff. Go hungry because there is so much to try that you can't get away with out eating a bit too much. The Brasciole delicious and a surprise, the marinated chicken, awesome! We had our wedding booked in the grove, initially for July 17th, but because of covid that couldn't happen. We rescheduled for next July but after much debate decided to do a backyard ceremony instead 2 weeks ago. We had contacted Banchetti's many times and after many games of phone tag finally went over to talk about getting at least part of our deposit back. The contract we have is for 150 people minimum, which obviously isn't safe or allowed, Banchetti's has spend $0 on us, have spent 0 time on our wedding, and have plenty of time to rebook the date. Due to the pandemic we were hoping for at least part of our deposit back but they have refused. They gave us a gift card for part of the deposit to use there and flat out kept the rest, but as an RN I don't feel it is safe to repeatedly visit the restaurant and risk exposing their staff and other guests. Many companies have been understanding and given refunds but beware before booking anything here, they are absolutely not willing to give anything back or even discuss it. Don't risk your wedding or event here!!! read more

I recently attended a Christmas party at this banquet facility and my experience started at disappointing and went down from there. The facility was not decorated for the holiday season. This is December. Thanksgiving was early this year and they did have an extra week to decorate. This lack of attention to details says a lot about the owners. Appetizers. All were frozen purchased from some large food distributor. Precooked frozen meatballs put in some barbeque sauce as an appetizer. WOW. Main buffet line had a great relish tray of olives, pickles etc. All from cans. The main meal had a dish of yellow squash from a bag. Flavorless. Some white pieces of meat that was supposed to be chicken. But again, it was precooked somewhere, frozen and then just reheated. It was chicken that you would get at national fast food place. It was advertised as roast beef. But it was drenched in some canned gravy you could not tell what it was. The desert table again was filled with premade deserts purchased at a big box store. But their website states they have a bakery to make special items. It is obvious they do not have chefs or bakers on site. The photos on their website do not reflect what was served. The bartender was inattentive. He did not want to be there. A telltale sign that our guests were disappointed in the food is when the servers cleared the plates and a lot of food was left on the plated that they could not eat. It is sad to hear that several attendees to this event were going to get something to eat because the food was unappealing. But All is not negative. All Most of the attendees to this event learned of a facility not to host a corporate or family event. Had an awful experience with ordering a wedding cake from here - so I would steer far and clear of doing that if your not booking with one of their venues. Additionally while their food is pretty good and I enjoy their soups, it often comes out with something missing or wrong and they changed their soup size to a size for a child. read more

Dinner at Banchetti's on Valentines Day. Had one of the Valentines special. It was amazing! appetizer of mushroom with crab meat was so good. Very generous with the crab meat. Went there for their restaurant week special, and to celebrate our anniversary. Had made reservations and still had to wait, which was a little annoying. Once seated, our waiter was very attentive and polite. The food was very good and plentiful enough that we will each get a second meal. read more

My family had Easter buffet dinner at Banchettis. What a mistake. They had many rooms of seating and buffet tables. We were seated in the back room. The service was horrible. Unlimited Mimosa's for $2.75, unlimited because they never came back to inquire if we wanted another. Food was cold, soup was stone cold. We had no idea what anything was, they should have had everything labeled. Roast beef was tough and dried out even though it was medium rare, pork chops were so dried out couldn't even bite them. Easter dinner with no ham?? At the end of the meal we went up to get desserts which were gone and the meat carver was gone, but what was on the carving station but a ham, with no one to carve it. The couple at the next table asked to see the owner to complain about service and the food. As we were walking out of the many rooms of seating we noticed many desserts on the other buffet tables and many more varieties of food than what we were offered. read more

needs new cooks. I have had several banquets at Banchettis over the past few years. It has steadily gone down hill. I still like it and think it has much to offer people. But this last event forgot to put out gravy and never did, and salad dressing which came out but the salad was not replenished. That is a lack of management not training the young serving staff. They were nice the staff but not knowledgeable of what people needed. The chicken picata was not like before. In the past it was pounded and thin as it should be this time it was more thick curled up in parts and it showed a lack of prep from the kitchen. Further more the sauce was not that good so it really was not the dish it was intended to be. mashed potatoes were good and baked pasta fine. Food temps were also a bit low needed to be hotter. Once again poor kitchen chefs/cooks. I envisioned cooks back there who just did not care about the product. So will I give them another chance if the occasion arises yes maybe but it but I will be more inistant on what was wrong in past and be assured they can correct it, or the deal is off. Finally the visitor office where you go in and pay bill, select menu etc is a hot mess. Get rid of the boxes etc, make it more professional and less sloppy. The entrance hallway carpets show stains that either need to be repaired cleaned or replaced. It is a pretty building but you have to keep it up or it will fall apart. I enjoy the location the menu the pricing etc but its slipping for sure so I hope MR Rizzo steps in and pulls it together it is apparent that it needs some guidance and quality control read more

I attended a fundraiser for a friends daughter a couple weeks ago and was disappointed because the spaghetti was hard and the rolls were stale. It didn't look like they had enough settings as some guests were standing for a bit and eventually had to get their own chairs from another room. As this is their mainstay I assumed it would have been run more professionally. I hope the fundraiser is somewhere else next year! read more

My family held a retirement party for my mother this morning at Banchetti's on North French. Our family has attended events here in the past and have generally been impressed with the quality of the food and service. Today, however, was an abject disaster. We arrived on time to the facility and had 34 guests in attendance. The room that was reserved for us was well set up and in good shape. After confirming with the manager that we could start at the buffet we were shocked to find that more than half of the buffet items were empty and most of what remained was down to less than a quarter of the serving tray. A lot of this was burnt or otherwise poor in quality. Most of our guests wandered from table to table gathering what was left which likely would not have been chosen at all had their been a full selection to pick from. The serving station was manned with one poor individual who was tasked with making to order omelets, carving the roast beef and making waffles. The hodge podge that I ended up "choosing" for myself was all cold. Once back in the room we summoned the manager who apologized and mentioned that she would address our grievances. 30 minutes later another trip to the buffet found things in worse shape than originally. Even the cut fruit station was empty. The single buffet server had disappeared. One or two servers occasionally brought out a tray of food but it was readily apparent that the kitchen was short staffed this day and they could just not deliver what they were contracted to deliver. Most of our guests, as well as, others who had held events at this facility by this point had commented on their disappointment with the situation. As a final insult, the dessert table ran low and eventually out of any meaningful selection. The cutout cookies that remained were stale. My parents, who paid for and therefore hosted the event were embarrassed and felt it necessary to apologize to their guests for the day. The entire afternoon of conversation at our table was completely dominated by the disgust we felt at the service. Despite the fact that our special occasion was completely ruined we initially had some hope that their management would make things right. Sadly this was not to be. The manager on site came back with an offer of 10 free brunch tickets. That was an insult. After sending her back a third time we insisted on speaking with someone higher up. We were eventually placed in contact with the owner via phone and he ended up offering to charge us for 24 seats (we were contracted for 38). This took an hour of our time to negotiate (at the expense of our guests waiting at home). We were offered an apology but it primarily consisted of a series of excuses. I left disgusted at the outcome. Not only was our celebration tarnished but having to endure the nickel and diming of a businessman whose business had clearly and without question failed to deliver was deflating. Most people can come to understand when a restaurant has a bad day, BUT to fail to own up to your shortcomings and still expect and ultimately extract significant payment from your customers is appalling. We used Banchettis for catering for my son's party. The price was ok, but the food wasn't. The chicken was some of the driest I've had in a long time, potatoes were undercooked and raw, vegetables were dry, meatballs were cold at the edges, and the pasta was cold at the center. We only live a few minutes away, so we weren't sure why it was cold. The salad had a nice presentation, rolls were delicious, and brownies were pretty decent. Gave them 1 star for the price, and another star for the side food. Lost 3 stars for cold pasta and meatballs, very dry chicken, and tasteless vegetables. Went for the Sunday brunch. They should be embarrassed and close up shop. They stopped taking out additional food around 12:30, leaving many empty bowls (e.g., fruit). The hot foods were anything but hot, and were dried out. Staff brought out a water pitcher filled with hot tomato sauce and poured it over the dried out cold pasta. Yeah, that'll fix it. DO NOT EAT HERE. We attended a Wednesday night Groovin at the Grove for some food and to listen to the band with some friends. Food was horrible. What was listed on the menu as a barbecue chicken sandwich looked and tasted like a leftover chicken sandwich from the weekend before's wedding. After screwing up the reservation and making us wait 40 minutes for a table for brunch, we got a 15 second rundown on loa=cation of foods, ONE lousy and soon cold, cup of coffee and then NOT ONE single server until it was time to pay. The food was cold and tasteless. I did like the scrambled eggs, the Sara Lee type mini pastries and the chocolate cake. The rest, to be blunt, SUCKED. Cold pancakes, Italian Bread french toast(Please!) that was dry and tasteless. We never even GOT any water or coffee refills. I went and got my own at the server station. The layout is confusing as well. On top of everything else, they already ADDED an 18% tip to the bill, even though there were only two of us. She DID NOT DESERVE an 18% tip and would not have gotten one from me. Nobody Asked us how were doing during the meal. Nobody asked us if we wanted more coffee or if we might want water. You get a tiny 4 oz. cup for juice that you have to refill yourself. This was without a doubt the worst banquet/buffet I ever ate at. NEVER, EVER again. We should have followed our first thought when they screwed up the reservations and gone to Ponderosa. It would have been cheaper and better. read more

I just went to Banchetti on North French Road for my friend's wedding reception. The interior is elegant and clean and the air conditioner was blazing, which makes me glad even though it's early autumn, because there are a lot of warm bodies burning up food and dancing on the dance floor! It was nicely organized, and the food was better than I've seen in some other wedding receptions. The waiters and waitresses were efficient and professional, and the dance floor, sound system, and disco lights were all in top condition. I've been to other events there too over the years, and it was always a pleasant experience. I've never been in charge of a big event like a wedding, but from the perspective of a guest I'd have to say it's very nice. read more

I wrote a thank you note to Mike Rizzo after Banchetti's hosted our 40th class reunion. The compliments continue to this day and the staff, food, and service were outstanding. Clare was a delight to work with and we would recommend this restaurant for any catered function. We were fortunate to have great weather and the outside pavilion was perfect for our nearly 200 classmates and their guests. Our next reunion is a ways off but we will strongly consider them the next time around. Thanks !!!! read more

Came here for Mother's Day Brunch. The construction was done and the new facility was beautiful. They had two lines one to check in with your reservation and another to pay ahead of time. Other than that confusion, everything was great. They offered unlimited mimosa's for a certain price and then they have a juice station set up and the waitress could bring soda's if you paid a head of time. The food was well cooked and all the perfect temperature. They had a wide variety of pasta's, fruit, meat and breakfast foods plus the desserts were awesome! I would definitely recommend this place. Maybe before construction they had some issues, but they definitely had a crowd of people and while looking around everyone seemed to be enjoying their brunch....my family definitely did. We will definitely keep them in mind for future events! Check them out! read more

8/15/10 We had our Vow renewal/25th.Anniversary party here in April this year. Our Lucky night we had a manager in training on duty. I thought as the main manager had all details, everything would be ok---NOT. Set-up was not complete when guests arrived. tables were numbered wrong, didn't have right sized tables per side. It wasn't set up so I had an isle to walk down. We had the buffet, that was set in middle of dance floor and had to be moved for first dance. All guests were not offered coffee and rolls at dinner. Servers served themselves from buffet, then everything ran late. Guests left before desert (Wedding cake was cut after first dance earlier) We didn't have a Wedding the first time around, this was our do over-we were very disappointed. We can't re- do a do over. We planned this event for 6mo. like any other Wedding. Would never recommend for any event. Food was average. Best part was bartender, she was very good. This is not an inexpensive venue, so I would suggest looking around! read more
