I just moved to the area and my child doesn't have a dentist yet. Unfortunately he chipped a tooth so I came across this dentist because they say on their website they offer emergency care. However when they called they said they only way for me to get an appointment would be to make a appointment for a cleaning and full exam. Unfortunately it hasn't quite been six months since his last exam so I wasn't sure if my insurance would cover the cleaning yet. When I described the problem again they told me if I didn't do the cleaning I couldn't get an appointment until February. Obviously with a chipped tooth you shouldn't wait that long to receive any care--and honestly their staff should be telling people that so that the child's tooth doesn't get more damaged. I'm totally fine if they just didn't have an opening (and in fact we ended up finding a really nice office). However, I just think they should remove the claim from their website that they do emergency dental care because based on my conversation with them they basically don't.

The hygienist said the dentist was in a procedure while we continued waiting after the cleanings of the other 2, far beyond a reasonable amount of time. Our three appointments were at the same time and I'm not sure how another procedure could have been added in between them. More concerning was the mishandling of medical records afterward. When requesting my children's records to transfer care, the office repeatedly failed to send them correctly and ultimately sent another family's children's records to me, while sending some of my children's records to a different parent. This serious HIPPA violation was only acknowledged after I pointed it out myself. The combination of excessive wait times, poor communication, and careless handling of sensitive patient information made us lose confidence in this practice entirely.

He asked what my child eats in a very judgmental tone, and then made a snarky comment implying that cavities are caused by "too much McDonald's," which felt unnecessary and insulting. On top of that, they wanted to redo X-rays we had already completed just a week prior, which felt like poor planning. If they needed new images, that should have been communicated before making me come in, instead of wasting our time. The whole experience left me feeling uneasy and judged rather than supported as a parent. We will not be returning, and I would not recommend this office to other families looking for a kind, professional environment.

We always thought Dr…read more Neel was very thorough but now that she is older and has received other opinions, my thoughts are a bit different. At her first adult dental appointment, they asked why she had never received any orthodontic care and said she needed to see an orthodontist ASAP. Severe overbite and significant overcrowding that had been getting worse over the course of several years. She is now almost 20 and multiple doctors have told us that she needs 1-2 years of braces and corrective jaw surgery to fix her mouth. I'm not sure why this was overlooked since we asked Dr. Neel several times if she would ever need braces from the time she was little and he always said no. When she was older, we asked about certain things that were abnormal with her teeth/bite and he told us multiple times that there was nothing wrong. I wish he had referred us to an orthodontist while she was under his care so we could have dealt with this earlier. We feel a bit confused on why this issue was never addressed and why this was able to go untreated for so long.

While Dr. Chen and staff are personable their conduct was clearly a case of malpractice! After…read moresending me to another dentist for five root canals with temporary fillings that subsequently are required to have crowns constructed by Dr. Chen that was not done even though I had many other visits to the office for other issues. As a result one tooth broke off entirely leaving the post that is inserted after a root canal extending from the root that then had to be removed by a dental surgeon. The side fell off another of the teeth exposing the post but it could be saved by another competent dentist who crowned the remaining three. As I said, this process took several years and many visits to Chen's office when the crowns were not done. The cost and damage were extensive and the responsibility to crown teeth after root canals requested by Chen was, and is, clearly his.

I will speak my truth over and over again. After all was said and done I had a horrible dental abscess that caused the most excruciating pain that I have ever experienced in my life, and I blame this dental practice. Dr. Murphy spoke with me over the phone while I was in debilitating pain and had the nerve to suggest that he would "fit me in tomorrow for a trigger point injection". I blame this practice for being a poor representation of the dental community and whole-heartedly blame them for making me unnecessarily suffer because they have lost their way in patient care.
