I only needed a small quantity, and they did not make me feel badly as a female for needing only a small amount, compared to the large pallets they were lifting for other customers. They hauled it to my car, and when I asked the price, I was told to not worry about it because it was their pleasure, and the small amount was not worth them charging me for it. This type of kindness is rare these days, and I just want them and other customers to know that when someone goes out of their way, it is worthwhile to give positive feedback. Inside the store is going thru a remodel so items are not out for viewing. I did speak with a sales representative and was able to see what they stock and what they can order. On the floor I did not see anything I liked. I was given a catalog and a business card with a url for a website they can order "custom" screen doors. Jeff and his crew built a very simple and small raised patio for me in April 2024. Initially, some…read moreof the pavers were unlevel and crooked, so he came back and reinstalled them, resulting in an even worse appearance. By June, the entire patio had shifted with pavers lifting and sinking as it was deteriorating from the ground up. The patio was built on an existing concrete slab and having had no rain there was no reason the patio should have been falling apart so quickly. I called in a licensed inspector who determined from the construction pictures I had taken that it was not built correctly from the beginning. Everything about the construction was wrong - from using the incorrect gravel to the compaction method, leveling technique, and sloppy paver installation. The inspector's opinion was that this patio could not be fixed but needed to be completely rebuilt. He called it a "bad do-it-yourself" project. I had Jeff come back to see the mess and he actually hung his head in shame, said he was embarrassed, and admitted it was a disaster. Because the work was still under warranty, he offered to fix it or replace it. As I told him, I had no confidence that he had the knowledge, skill, or crew to rebuild it. He then offered to refund my money, which I thought under the circumstances was the right thing to do. However, his business partner insisted they "fix it under warranty" and rescinded the refund offer. I spent a lot of stressful, sleepless nights agonizing over how to resolve this. While I realized that providing the warranty work is all they are legally liable for, I could not foresee the next year of dealing with a rebuilt patio that would likely be a second structural disaster. The pictures show only small examples of the sloppy work and do not capture the overall rollercoaster appearance of the patio. In the end, I hired another contractor to rip out the patio, haul away the six-month old inferior building materials, and rebuild it. The difference in the two patios is astounding and I have now a beautiful patio that is sound and solid. While Jeff is a nice and likeable person, this was the worst contracting experience I have ever had in forty years of dealing with contractors.
